I think I’ve had all the global warming I can handle.  It is 54 today, with nearly 100% humidity.  I need to go and turn on the furnace again.  There is a chance, if this pea soup of clouds, rain, and humidity ever lift we will find more snow on the mountains.  Speaking of which, have you heard the latest global warming idiocy?  Trees in the northern regions contribute to global warming!

THE GREAT PET SOAP OPERA

The big news today is that Miss Piggy let me hold her!  Not only hold her, but we cuddled for nearly 15 minutes! In fact, Piggy’s dirty little secret is that she likes to be snuggled and cuddled.  All I had to do was rub and caress around her throat and neck.  She is so tiny and fragile.  Even though she turned 5 months last week, (the 11th for those who wish to remember birthday felicitations next month) I doubt if she weights over 4 pounds.  I would say she is about the size of a 3 month old kitten.  But, we also need to remember she was half the size of the other kittens in the litter when she was born, less than half the size. Her fur feels good and silky, long, beautiful.  She has the silky coat of a Norwegian  Forest Cat, exquisite.  It is long.  She is developing a gorgeous tail.  But, I am just not sure about her size.  Usually at five months or so, a cat has quite a bit of growth.  Her mommy is small, but still, we could be dealing with a very tiny cat.  I am also opting not to have her spayed right now.  I think she is too frail. But then, I may be still upset about Redford and overly concerned.

I do know there is some sort of a pet hierarchy here when it comes to the beds.  I have 4 beds, 1 poodle and 5 cats.  Piggy now is not allowed in the beds.  Little Joe is allowed, if no one wants one, or if she doubles up with someone.  I need to get two more beds, that’s for sure.

Bo Diddley hospitalized after a stroke.

James Joyner over at Outside the Beltway  has posted one of the most heartfelt and heart-wrenching things I’ve ever read about the death of a pet.  Considering what I’ve been through since the first of March, I have no sympathy for people who can’t feel for the loss of a pet.   I’ve lost GeorgieW, Brunhilda (who was 17.5 years old) and Redford who was less than a year old.  My heart goes out to anyone who is hurting over such a death.

Captain’s Quarters on why the Dems are allowing gas prices to climb.  Logical. Pure Vulcan logic. Fascinating. I don't think I've seen such rational, coldly-calculated logic as this since I watched a rerun of Amok Time a few months ago.  And if you do not know what I am referring to, you have a very serious problem.

I found a piece today that, if true, is sickening.  It is possible ICE is drugging illegal migrants to return them to their country of origin.   It is one thing to drug detainees because they pose a threat, but if this is true…   Okay, I know it is a liberal site, but what’s wrong with that?

MY RANT OF THE DAY

DRAMA QUEEN CONSERVATIVES

(Okay, I confess, I stole title idea from Strata Sphere)

I am so sick of this immigration do-do political wrangling that I could scream.  I am tired of blow-hards like Michael Savage, Mark Levin,  Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Bill O’Reilly who can’t see beyond John Tanton’s talking points and quake at every little threat from the ultra conservative base.  (UPDATE:  Hannity and O’Reilly have somewhat redeemed themselves this evening, so I have scratched them from the list, temporarily.

Who died and made conservatives God?

Or, maybe I should be asking AJ Drummond’s question, “When did conservatives turn into Drama Queens?”

I’ve had it.  Enough is enough. It is time for people to start thinking for themselves and using their whole brain and quit spouting pabulum that is spoon-fed to them by a half dozen or so super egos. I am sick and tired of having the ghost of Ronald Reagan rammed down my throat every minute of the day.  Ronald Reagan is dead.  Life goes on.  Conservatives need to get on with their lives and come up with some new ideas of their own.  If they can’t, then shut up already yet.

Harold Hutchison over at Called As Seen is on a roll today.    I think of everyone in the GOP blogsphere he and I seem to think more alike.  Today is no exception.  He takes on Red State for their fatwa against certain sources that aren’t pure enough and inability to see beyond their conservative noses.

Perri Nelson has an excellent Thursday Thirteen about what a conservative is.  I agree with this whole-heartedly.  The problem is there are so darn many “BIG L” Libertarians out there who have stolen the conservative theology as their own and have corrupted it that I don’t know if, today, we know what conservatives are.  If, as conservatives who worship at the altar of Reagan would have it, they follow Reagan, then they need to get a handle on manners, propriety, kindness, and tolerance.

Once upon a time I was a Ronald Reagan Conservative – and I still am.  The problem is today, those who call themselves “Conservatives” have absolutely nothing to do with Ronald Reagan.  I know for a fact they don’t recognize his words and thoughts when they are presented with said words, thoughts, and quotes without Reagan’s name on them. What Perri Nelson has penned in his Thirteen list is exactly and precisely what Reagan was.  I think a perfect example of this is the latest Dobson tirade against Giuliani.

Ruffini is asking “What does the conservative movement need today?” You know, I think they need Perri Nelson’s list along with manners, tolerance, open minds, common decency, a sense of humor, kindness, and a little self deprecating humor.

What does the conservative movement need today? That’s simple – Armegeddon, a few (more) funerals, implosion, rebirth, and a return to basic values that allow for human frailties. Conservatives also need to realize they are not the be all and end all.  They also need to learn that when they start having their juvenile little temper tantrums and threaten to leave the GOP they are hurting no one but themselves.  One day, when they grow up and learn how to act like adults, we can let them join us at the grown-up table.  Right now they belong in the basement so they can have their little food-fight and not mess things up for the rest of us who want to maintain rational discourse and

BORDER HYSTARIA

Rush was beyond reason today, basically telling Republicans to dump the party over this.  I hate to say it, but if Republicans did not ditch the party over Watergate, they aren’t going to desert it over immigration.

Fred Thompson is against it.  That takes care of him with me.

We all know where Malkin stands.  She has the bogus numbers of the costs fed to her from the Heritage Society which procured them (I used the word procured intentionally) from a Tanton based organization who pimped the numbers.

Okay, this is what I don't understand.  Malkin is a decent, honorable person.  I just don't see why she has been assimiliated into Tanton's lies.  Anyone who just scratches the surface can see the root causes of 99% of all the anti-immigration organizations and the pedigree leading right back to Tanton.

Ace of Spades has created a form so people can resign from the GOP.  All I can say to this is anyone who would resign from a political party over a single issue really doesn’t belong in that party.  Or, anyone who would resign from the GOP over this isn’t a real Republican.

AND THE TEMPER TANTRUMS

AND THREATS TO LEAVE THE GOP

I think much of this rabid anti-immigration fervor is being fueled by the Ron Paul libertarian branch of the GOP.  You need to check out his racist  anti-Semitic leanings, but then that whole bunch he associates with is quite anti-Semitic. If you’ve studied the anti-immigration movement as long as I have, you will begin to understand that it has been prompted by abject racism that has absolutely nothing to do with patriotism.  I constantly find myself wondering why good, decent people are swept up into John Tanton’s bright and shining lies.
