Rachel has a birthday today.  I think I am just thankful she is home from Kenya safe and sound.

So why haven’t Opie & Andy been kicked off the air, even if they are on satellite?

It looks like three of the five “porch kittens” are going to survive, I hope.  The big news of the day is there is a possibility Miss Piggy has decided she is not going to hate me!

Once again I am theme blogging.  I don’t think it takes any less time, though.

MAY IS MELANOMA MONTH:  It is possible that people with melanoma have dysfunctional immune systems. Now this is very interesting, and makes sense.  I have a weird immune system.   The Melanoma Research Foundation was created by Diana Ashby, the late wife of Shuttle astronaut Jeff Ashby.   When he learned I had been diagnosed with melanoma, Jeff called and read the riot act to me - about secondary diagnosis and second opinions.  If Diana had sought a second opinion she might have survived.

JUST NEWS

Below the Beltway has the really important news – there may be 2 new Star Wars movies – but no Skywalkers.  That’s okay, as long as I get Han Solo!

“…But of course, we were most interested in talking with George Lucas, the affable genius film director who occasionally graces us in New York with an appearance. Lucas is absolutely one of my favorite people, a lovely guy who seems unaffected by his enormous success. Lucas is currently preparing "Indiana Jones 4" with Harrison Ford, Blanchett and Shia LaBoeuf. The latter plays Ford's son, which means his mother was possibly the character Karen Allen played in "Raiders of the Lost Ark." "I can't say," Lucas said when I brought up Allen. Lucas says that Sean Connery still hasn't signed on, but his character, Indy's dad, is in the script. Other than that, his lips are sealed. "Steven thinks we can keep the whole thing a secret," Lucas told me. "I explained to him that it's impossible nowadays. We can't live like that." So then, tell me more about "Indy 4," I suggested. "Oh no," replied Lucas with a smile. Lucas told me he has seen all the summer movies since his company, Industrial Light and Magic, does most of the special effects. The only one they didn't work on was "Spider-Man 3." What did he think of it? "It's silly. It's a silly movie," he said. "There just isn't much there. Once you take it all apart, there's not much story, is there?" Well, it's not "Star Wars." "People thought 'Star Wars' was silly, too," he added, with a wink. "But it wasn't." Lucas, by the way, says he is readying "Clone Wars," an animated series for TV that's derived from "Star Wars." Many "Star Wars" characters appear in "Clone Wars," but voiced by other actors. And here's a little news: Lucas tells me he will make two more live-action films based in the "Star Wars" era. "But they won't have members of the Skywalker family as characters," he said. "They will be other people of that milieu." The two extra films will also be made for TV and probably be an hour long each. But, like "Clone Wars," Lucas doesn't know where on TV they will land….”

 Brawl at the Boston Pops

Thomas Sowell’s excellent NRO commentary about bookstores.  I agree.

Lindsey accepts a petition by service members about Iraq.

There are criticisms about the idea of a ‘baby hatch’ where parents can drop off unwanted infants, who will then be loved and given to an eager adoptive family.  I think it is a wonderful idea.  Maybe it would cut down on abortions.  I think as an adopting parent I would much rather adopt a child who comes into the world this way.  There is no legal way a birth parent could return and try to take back the baby.

The idea would really catch on if parents could bind, gag, drug, and drop off annoying teenagers!  I know of at least three who would be on the fast track!  This includes my niece, Laura, who is graduating from high school in a few days and is quite ‘full’ of herself.

Flopping Aces has excellent information on the Fort Dix Terror Cell

If the FBI has the names of 4 other potential terrorists, then this is not an isolated incident.  I want to know what is going on in their mosque.

And why is the media after the informants.

MY RANT OF THE DAY

Immigration

Before I begin my rant, I need to settle several things with which REASONABLE people will agree.

1.       What occurred at Ft. Dix has absolutely nothing to do with illegal Hispanic immigration.  Let me back-peddle a little, in many ways it does, but not the way you think.   There is a logical difference between an illegal Hispanic (read Mexican) migrant looking for work and illegal immigrants who are here to promote terrorism.  To date no Mexican illegal migrant has been remotely connected with Jihad and terror.

2.       There is a difference between ‘honest’ illegal immigrants from Mexico and drug dealers, drug runners, and MS-13.

3.       There is a difference between an illegal immigrant who commits a criminal crime (other than entering the US illegally).

4.       Yes, we need to stop the flow of people across the border BUT…

5.       We also need to stop the movement of people who are here on expired visas, etc.  As much priority needs to be paid to this as to ‘rounding up’ illegal workers.

6.       We must come up with a way to track people who are here.  Rudy Giuliani has an excellent idea.

7.       It appears as though ICE is targeting illegal Mexican workers more than they are Illegal Islamics who are here illegally.

8.       Any idiot knows there is a greater danger from Islamic Jihadist who here illegally than the migrant worker from Mexico who is just trying to feed their family and get a break.

9.       The primary danger in the illegal movement across the US-Mexican border is from drug dealers, not migrant workers.

10.    If anti-immigration forces would include people from other ethnic groups besides Mexicans in their constant harping about illegal immigration they would have more legitimacy.  This constant commentary about people from Mexico, as opposed to those of other nations is indicative of abject racism and bigotry.

11.    Anyone who knows anything about the Hispanic culture knows they are gradually ‘melting’ into our society.  Islamic immigrants are not assimilating into our society.

12.    Ignoring problems created by other ethnic groups and concentrating on Mexican migrants gives no legitimacy to any anti-immigration movement.

13.    We have a serious problem with Islamic migration in this country.  Unfortunately, because of political correctness, even within the right, we are ignoring the problems that exist within their community.  Instead of harassing the Mexican community. ICE should be concentrating on the Islamic population.  Mexicans are not known to commit terrorists acts against the United States.  Islamic have.

14.    We are constantly told to be tolerant of women who insist on wearing head-scarves and burkas here in the US, but have no tolerance for the innocent Mexican who speaks very little English.

15.    Until drastic social changes are made in Mexico, we are NEVER going to solve the illegal migratory problem.  Within the decade, Mexico is going to do the way of Venezuela.  When this happens, the problem with illegal border crossings is going to be unstoppable.

16.    We could do more to solve illegal immigration by forcing social change in Mexico by treating the powers that be in Mexico the way we do any rogue nation.  The ruling plutocracy in Mexico has no desire to change.  Until we force their hand, we are going to be subsidizing their lifestyle, which rivals that of the Russian aristocracy before the USSR.

17.    Anti-immigration supporters must be forced to comprehend that the vast majority of illegal drugs that come into the US come through the El PasoJuarez sector.  To hand-cuff BP agents by mandating they chase migrants to the point of ignoring drug running reeks of corruption and mega-million dollar pay-offs.

18.    It must also be recognized that in its current condition ICE and the BP are violently corrupt and are the tools of the AFL-CIO.

19.    Illegal migrants who have done nothing ‘illegal’ but come here illegally, MUST be allowed to keep the money and property they have earned and purchased while here.  Currently, like any other ill-gotten gain, it is confiscated and the money goes into the agency making the arrest.  This is horrendously immoral.

20.    We must recognize that if we are to return all the Mexican citizens who are here illegally, we must be prepared to accept responsibility for the vast humanitarian crises that is going to occur in Mexico.  We must also accept that this crises could be enough to tip the precarious government in favor of Hugo Chavez.

21.    Mexico is one of the most corrupt nations on Earth.

22.    When the humanitarian crises develops after the return of millions of people who WILL NOT be able to find employment, Mexico will refuse to provide any kind of humanitarian assistance.  They will look to us, and will we do it.  Consequently, the same rules conservatives use to support the War in Iraq must be applied to Mexico.  If we force millions of people back across the border, with no way to support themselves and their families, we are going to be advocating mass starvation and death.  We must be prepared to accept the consequences that will follow.

23.    It is strategically safer for the US to provide a limited amnesty for illegal migrants from Mexico who have committed no other crime and have ‘roots’ in a community than forcing them to return to abject depravation in Mexico.  They will return, and then they will be armed, and working with Al Qaeda.

24.    Jingoistic xenophobia is not going to solve the border problems with Mexico.

TO BE CONTINUED…..

A MINI RANT

Giuliani and Fibromyalgia

Did you hear the one about the Giuliani  campaign ‘snubbing’ an Iowa family because they weren’t worth millions?  Sounds a little overblown to me.   “…I just got in touch with Deb VonSprecken, who told me the story's accurate "word for word." To top this all off, she also told me that she's got Fibromyalgia….”  This clinches it for me.  There are two kinds of women who have fibromyalgia.  There are those who use it as an excuse to fall back on if anything goes wrong and they become invalids.  I have it.  My mother has it.  She has a severe case but is not an invalid.  Heck, you live with it.  I’ve never used it as an excuse…except when I was in high school and used it as an excuse to cut class.

FIBROMYALGIA is not a handicap.  Any woman who makes it one is seriously disturbed.  I have fibromyalgia so I can say exactly what I think.

The one thing I don’t understand, but yes I do.  The Fibromyalgia as handicap excuse proves it.  The offended party is making a big deal about something that is no big deal.  Yes, she is disappointed, but campaigns do themes.  She should have waited for confirmation before going over-board on the invites.  Now she is crying about it.  The thing about FIbromyalgia is often a women develops it after going through a trauma or is ‘high strung’.  Most of the time women who make a big deal about it are just plain nuts. I’m sorry, and people are going to be ticked with me, but I really don’t care.
