THE GREAT CAT SOAP OPERA

Evidently when Miss Piggy hits a growth spurt she sleeps.  This afternoon she’s been doing the kitten bounce all over the place.  I’ve noticed the markings on her face have expanded.

 

CAUTION:  LITTER BOX DISCUSSION  I’ve also discovered B(r)at Masterson doesn’t like a dirty litter box.  I’d put off changing out the litter (I like those smaller crystals you can get at Wallyworld for about $4 a bag.  We have two litter boxes, one upstairs and one down.  Evidently they like the upstairs box for ‘big stuff’ and the downstairs one for piddle.  I find it rather humorous.  I’ve also noticed that Bat won the race to play in the clean litter.  Cats are so funny that way, just watching and waiting to see who is going to get there first!

 

FYI:  Rumsfeld likes dirty gin martinis!  He managed to get a little sloshed last night, then – well, this discussion isn’t for the innocent and could be “R-Rated”.  Well, Mommy Cat is in heat again.  This is a very good thing because it tells me she isn’t pregnant!  Well, I think you get the picture considering the past history between the two.  I swear the little stinker had a buzz going on.  He was running doggie laps around the living room, jumping from one piece of furniture to the other.  Then the feline fem fatal showed up and – well (CENSORED).  I had to break it up several times.  I can’t believe they had the bad taste to engage in this sort of thing right in front of baby Miss Piggy!

 

I just love baseball.  Today the Padres are having a Military Opening Night!  The Padres are going to wear camouflage uniforms to honor the military.  Have you heard about Cooper Brennan?  He served two tours of duty in Iraq and is now in the Padres system.  The Marines from Camp Pendleton unveiled one of the largest US flags ever last night and received a huge ovation.  I thought the voters had spoken and the Dems know exactly what we want – to get out of Iraq and dishonor our military. 

 

EASTER THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

First off, my friend Josie will be able to drink in a few hours.  She gave up adult beverages for Lent. 

 

To us, today, Saturday is just another day. Here it is very chilly, at 32 degrees with show frosting the tops of the mountains.  I expect a little of the white stuff before the evening is over, thereby thwarting my plans to wear a cute pair of new white sandals to church tomorrow.  The snow has just started.  Funny, but here in Ruidoso we have as great a chance of having a White Easter as we are a White Christmas!  I finally broke down and turned the furnace back on.  It is 55 degrees in the condo!

 

I’ve been giving much thought to that first Easter. We talk about Good Friday and Easter, but how often do you ever hear a sermon or read a commentary about that horrible day between the two – the day the whole universe was in mourning.   (Dr. Roy’s Thoughts) Can you imagine being there in Jerusleum the day after Christ Died on the Cross?  You would be quaking in your sandals, hiding somewhere, waiting for the powers that be to come to take you away.  Faith – that’s gone.  Hope, a thing of the past.  Future – what future?  Everything was gone.  You hopes and dreams of defeating the Romans, of re-establishing your homeland were gone, dead, just like you were going to be.  

 

Your life was over.

 

Imagine the terror and the horror, the heart-break.  

 

It was the blackest day in history.  Reality had begun to set in.  

 

There is a horrible bleak night.  Passover ends at sunset.  The night is endless, punctuated by an earthquake.  The women want some of the men to go with them to finish the traditional preparations of the body but the men, too terrorized refuse.  They have lost all courage.

IMMIGRATION

For those who are new to The Pink Flamingo you need to know my stance on immigration and illegal immigration.  We have a problem with illegal immigration.  As has been illustrated on the Canadian border we have a serious security problem there.  I do not approve of the in-humane anti-immigration organizations which have grown up around the Minutemen and anything remotely related to John Tanton or Right March's out of control William Green.  For the most part we are dealing with a hand-ful of seriously disturbed individuals who have, like sociopaths, manipulated those who are eager to believe the worst, especialy when it comes to our Hispanic and Mexican population, tapping into an under current of pure, abject racism and hate, that is threatening to destroy not only the Republican party but the things this nation stands for.

 

Last night I was watching (confession time) Michael Moore’s Canadian Bacon, which is an absolutely hilarious political satire.  If Moore were to re-work it and change “Canada” to Mexico, and have the inmates of the movie go after Mexicans instead of Canadians we would have a working scenario for today’s abject anti-immigration hysteria.   If you want a perfect example of this hysteria and pure unmitigated racist, xenophobic hatred try Digger’s Realm.   You want to read pure hate?  Try it.  Like I said, we’re dealing with a group of far right, off the scale conservatives who have so betrayed Reagan they no longer know what he was all about.  All they can do is focus on their pure hatred of anyone and anything Hispanic.  And, like the mindless characters in Canadian Bacon, they have allowed themselves to be brainwashed by John Tanton and his associates who spew forth false information, gladly received.  It is quite fascinating how quickly Gilchrist, Simcox and the rest are trying to divest themselves of any "questionable" connections.

 

Stories like this are disgusting.  Why hunt and destroy the lives of people who have been here for twenty years and are pillars of the community when there are criminal illegals out there?   This is a horrible story.  Where is the humanity? Seems to me when American Citizens are forced to leave their own country, something is seriously and horribly wrong.  Can you say – breeding tomorrow’s terrorists?  That’s what we are doing.  The worst part of it, is these people will now have everything they own confiscated by the INS.  This is theft and is immoral.

Now for the fun stuff.  The Gilchrist bunch of Minutemen, et. al just seem to keep falling apart.

  A few weeks ago the KKK crashed a Minuteman rally.

 

  This is quite a change from the time when he defended white supremacists against Alan Combs.  This emailed response from Gilchrist deals with the quote below.  Note how he misrepresents the SPLC’s coverage of the story.

 On Saturday, March 31, Minuteman Project National Rally Spokesperson Ray  Herrera, and the National Rally Coordinator Robin Hvidston lead a rally of  over 60 Minutemen/women to an illegal alien day labor site in Rancho  Cucamonga, Ca. to bring national awareness to the issue of corrupt  employers displacing citizen employees by secretly hiring illegal aliens
 as an alternative work force.  During the rally a handful of members of a racist group identified as the  White Legion Knights tried to infiltrate the Minuteman rally but were  repelled by the rally leaders. "We don't approve of standing anywhere near  racial supremacists…they're not with us, "said Herrera, a Mexican-American  from Victorville, Ca. "We're a multi-ethnic group…We do not mingle with  groups like that and we do not believe in their philosophy."  Robin Hvidston, Minuteman Project National Rally Coordinator, said the  rally was meant "to bring national awareness to the fact that employers  were taking advantage of foreign national workers." To avoid the potential  for a violent confrontation with the racists, the Minutemen took the moral  high ground by ending the rally early.

 "We have new protocols in place that will allow the peaceful assembly of  our Minutemen in the future," said Minuteman Project president Jim  Gilchrist. "We are planning to distribute a unique Rally Pass ID Card to  our members to make it more difficult for meddlers and troublemakers to  interfere with our rallies." This brings me to my rant of the day.  I’ve said nothing about the Brits taken hostage by Iran.  What can I say?  But, the thing that bothered me the most was the way  Faye Turney adopted a head-scarf.  Then, the clincher came when Her Most Royal Majesty, Nancy I sports a Gucci scarf there in Syria. http://www.hyscience.com/mt/mt-tb.fcgi/8295  I go back to something I’ve thought about for some time.  When the heck did Western women feel the need to adopt such attire?  I like the posting over on Hyscience:

I keep asking the question, when did Islam turn so violent and against women.  Once upon a time, when the world was young, Nixon was President, and I still wore a size 11, my best friend, Kay, and I went to DC to spend the week with her aunt and uncle, who was the new head of the SBA (Small Business Administration).  It was every teen’s dream trip, including rubbing elbows with Strom Thurmond (and avoiding his lobster like fingers and tendency to French kiss the girls), a behind the scenes White House tour, Senate Gallery where we heard and met Ted Kennedy (he and Thurmond got along well).  We practically took up residence in the Smithsonian, then were treated to a magnificent Chinese banquet by my late cousin who was very well placed in the CIA.  We had a blast.  One of Martha’s required stops was the magnificent Wahabi mosque next door to the Saudi Embassy.  I remember the outfit I wore, a tweed mini, off white stockings, and cute brown flats.  Naturally I sported a Trisha Nixon “flip” hair-do.  All we were required to do was chuck the shoes when we went into the masque, where Martha arranged for a VIP tour.  We were treated with respect, as the whole service was explained.  Today women aren’t even allowed in areas where we went, no head scar, no burka, just stocking feet.  It was the first of many trips to DC, leaving me with a feeling that I couldn’t get enough of the place.   (FYI – today I avoid it like the plague).
