Almost Perfect!  Mark Buehrle throws the year’s first no-hitter.  If it hadn’t been for a walk to Sammy Sosa he would have been perfect.

Miss Piggy the kitten diva, is developing nerves of steel.  She did not budge today when Jody was banging, hammering, and putting up shelving.  Maybe she opened one eye, and glared, but that was about it. The main book shelf is finished!  The one I had Jody put up today under the bar in my dining room is wonderful.  I checked and the rest of my shelving and brackets are due to be delivered on the morrow!  With luck, Sammi and I can get everything put in place Sat. afternoon.  Sammi is working for a stereo system (5 hrs work @ ten bucks an hour!).  Next week we start on my office!

MY MINI RANTS FOR THE DAY

I was talking to one of my best friends today.  She teaches 6th grade here in town.  She was telling me the school system has spent the entire week doing lock-down drill and working on ‘code yellow’ alerts. Evidently the kids are a wreck, not from the VT shooting, but the local response.  These things are nothing new.  When I was in high school (Nixon was in office) we had bomb scares every year around this time.  A few kids would know about it so they could skip class.  I remember one time when Mr. Puckett (one of the GREAT all-time journalism teachers – I’m a writer because of him) was so mad he marched back into the school and hauled these two kids out by the scruff of the neck!

Patrick Haynes over at Ankle Biting Pundits is having heart palpitations because 78% of American citizens support a half-way decent path to citizenship for law abiding illegals.  While this sounds like a contradiction in terms, it isn’t.  How on earth can you penalize a person for wanting to give his/her family a better chance at life.  Let’s also face the fact that only an idiot would remain in a place like Mexico working a week for what his/her illegal relative here in the US makes in a day!

I posted this over at GOP Progress: I think the poll #’s are significant in two ways:

1.  It completely disproves the hard-line conservative anti-immigration sentiment.

2.  Is this a sign that “hard-line” conservatives are losing control?

These #’s are absolute disaster for conservatives who are anti-immigration.  I think they prove exactly where people stand on this specific issue.  Considering all the anti-immigration hot air that has contributed to Algore’s global warming theory, I think conservative Republicans has best step back and re-examine their stand on this issue.

If I were “conservative” I would be very concerned about these numbers.  I do truly feel sorry for people like “Digger” who are so far behind the curve on immigration.  Peter Brimlow is exploiting the VT shooting to further his xenophobic anti-immigration agenda.   Digger mentions a Frosty Woodbridge News With Views piece.  What you need to know is that Woodbridge is one of the most racist, anti-Hispanic, hysterical, henny-pennys of all the anti-immigration wacko “celebs”.  Woodbridge is just play incomprehensible, with his cross-country bike tour, to point out all the evil illegals among us.  He is also a shill for John Tanton.

Brent Bozell has an excellent article over at Townhall today. I have my differences with him, but I think he has something with his piece about the Pulitzer and why young ‘conservatives’ rarely go into journalism.

Mark Noonan at Blogs for Bush has a very interesting and I think must read post about the Holocaust, deniers, and the EU.  (Dingy red-head laugh – have you noticed that “EU” rhymes with “Pee-U”)

“…There is no room in our civil society for people who adhere to or apologize for Nazi ideology - a three year sentence for denying the Holocaust is, in my view, only the least we can do in such circumstances. There is no debate about such things as the Holocaust - anyone asserting that the fact of its happening is an open question is either insane or evil and in either case locking them up is the only sound thing to do. There is no debate that Nazi ideology is evil from start to finish. There is, therefore, in my view no need to debate about what to do with people who advocate Nazism...no less than there would be no debate on what to do with people who advocate slavery or cannibalism.”

I keep going back to that book I suggested my readers purchase, The Sociopath Next Door which is part of The Pink Flamingo Reading List. I’ve also posted an Amazon link which should appear on the left, fairly close to today’s post.  Today, while I was trying to avoid putting books on my shelves that are FINALLY finished, I was listening to a forensic psychologist on FOX who was discussing the shooting and shooter.  I think I am right that we are dealing with a sociopath.  I’ve also heard “experts” discuss the ‘hurt’ and ‘pain’ in this guy’s horrible words.   I agree with Malkin  about the Cho’s sister, but the more I think about it, and what I know of parents going out of the way to take care of their children with problems, I think Cho’s parents are fair game.   It is obvious Cho was not attending school on a scholarship.  He was not working – so it is highly probably the parents were holding his purse-strings.  If so, they could have put some limits on his behavior and monitored it.

Over the past 5 years I’ve had about 24 certificated course hours on the subject of abuse, sexual abuse, and child abuse.  Everything we are learning about Cho is screaming “abuse”.  Tonight on H&C I was listening to Bill Bennett discussing how the RA’s need to be more observant.  PAPA COW EXCRETIA! Cho’s behavior in college was a continuation of his behavior in high school.  If you want to start shooting blame paint-balls, let’s start with his high school teachers.  New Mexico law requires the behavior that Cho exhibited from high school on be reported.  He showed all the signs of an at risk person.  In fact, here in NM, if you are dealing with a minor who shows Cho’s characterizes, and do not report it, and something happens to that child, you are at risk of persecution just as much as the person who harms the child.

I listened to some of the ‘videos’.  Sociopaths are sometimes born.  They are often genetic.  They are also made by home environment.  There are characteristics that show markers of behavior.  Cho exhibited all of these characteristics as a child.  If you also pay attention to what he said, he was constantly railing at ‘fathers’ and authority figures who were berating him.  What kind of home life did Cho have?  How was he treated at home?  Any other person who has done what Cho did is subjected to a forensic autopsy and a careful examination of his home life.  Is this being done?  Why are his parents being treated with kid gloves?  Look at the family of the Unibomber?  They turned him in to the authorities.

There is no way anyone who lived with this person did not know he was serious disturbed.  His parents knew he was disturbed.  Someone  has quite a bit of explaining to do.
