WEDNESDAY'S HERO

This Weeks Soldier Was Suggested By Jenn

Capt. Alan B. Rowe
Capt. Alan B. Rowe 35 years old from Hagerman, Idaho 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center September 3, 2004 The Perfect Marine. That's how many describe Capt. Alan B. Rowe. Respected and dedicated to the Corps and still able to be a husband and father. Rowe, who was on his fourth deployment since joining the Corps in 1985, died with two other Marines, Lance Cpl. Nicholas Wilt, 23, of Tampa, Florida, and 1st Lt. Ronald Winchester, 25, of Rockville Center, N.Y., when a remote-controlled explosive device detonated as they returned to their vehicle after inspecting a bridge in Anbar province, near the Syrian border. "He was a quiet, humble person and extremely polite," his widow, Dawn, recalled from their early days of dating. "He was a traditional type of gentleman. My mom was surprised to meet such a ... perfect-picture Marine." "He did a great job balancing a pretty intense Marine Corps career with also being a great husband and father. He worked extremely hard to balance it." "He was so dedicated to the Marine Corps. He was really driven and believed in what he did. He was a Marine’s Marine. Tall, blond and fit. Kind of the mental image you think of when you think of the Marine Corps." A week after his death, Capt. Rowe was posthumously promoted to major. He leaves behind his wife and two children.

LOCAL HERO IGNORED BY THE RUIDOSO NEWS

One of the Hondo Valley’s own has given his life for his country.  20 year old Steven Michael Chavez gave his life for his country last Saturday.  Only the piece of trash called the Ruidoso News isn’t paying much attention to it. A Marine gives his life for his country and they can’t even honor him.

Spring has finally sprung.  If you detest winter and winter clothes you share my absolute elation at being able to pull out the pinks and pastels and pretty colors and pack up all those nasty old winter drabs.  I wore pink today with a skirt that had yellow, pink and blue in it.  It felt absolutely wonderful!  I also wore my really cute pink sandals with the huge fluffy flowers on the top.  I’ll freeze before getting out the winter clothes again!

Miss Piggy has developed a cough.  She’s doing to the pediatrician tomorrow when I go down to pick up Redford.  It could still be an allergy, but I’m inclined to think there’s more too it, now.  Rumsfeld had an interesting day.  Vicki, from the poodle parlor, brought him home for me.  I left this AM at 8:15, did not arrive back home until 7:15.  After I returned home Rums completely trashed the condo, hitting the TP, cat box, tissues – total mess.  He’s now in bed sleeping it off.

I’ve decided, since I blog every day, that I’m going to take one day a week to ‘blog lite’. Today is that day.  Did you catch the Governator on Rush today?  He cleaned Rush's clock, and turned him into a fool.  I need to do a rant about it, but it is getting late and I have a different rant in mind.  Bottom line here is the Governator definitely exposed Rush, Hannity, etc. as “conservatives” with no party loyalty or actual identification with the GOP.  This is a very serious problem.

I am attempting a link to the Open Trackback Alliance.  I’ve not had a ‘trackback’ register with me since Friday.  Blog Harbor is working on the problem.  For once it is not me. I apologize for any problems this has caused for anyone.

The new Earp movie exhibit opens at the Hubbard Museum near where I live.  Naturally they are not planning to carry my books.

MY RANT – OR SERMON – OF THE DAY

Yesterday, when I was working on my rant about the Beatitudes, I came across a commentary about the how we are to bless those who do things unto us that we don’t like.  In other words, when people hurt you, do wrong by you, and generally make your life a living hell, we are to BLESS THEM!  It then dawned on me when I started blessing those who have truly harmed me I ended up praying for their salvation.  BINGO!  I get it.  When people harm us, we are to bless them.  By blessing them, something within us is healed enough for us to begin praying for their soul, for their salvation.  And, maybe that’s why they were allowed to harm us.  What if that person who has been bad-mouthing me had done so because I needed to stop and bless him.  I needed to pray for his soul.  What if I am the only one praying for his salvation?  To me this is very liberating.  So many things in my life now have an explanation for why I am where I am.
