Imagine my shock & awe when I started crunching Pink Flamingo stats and discovered the total hits, from October of 2005 until March 1 is – drum roll - 806,576!  In fact, I am already 100,000 hits over my total for all of 2006 and am only 5 months into my blog year!  Not bad at all.  I am well aware these numbers aren’t ‘big league’ but if things continue on their current course, The Pink Flamingo will have 1,000,000 hits sometime in mid-April.  My goal for 2007 was to push around 125,000 hits a month.  So far so good.  Thank you very much.  I only wish these numbers would translate over to TLB.  Blog Harbor does not have a public counter.  I wish they did.  Evidently there are any number of ways to translate hit numbers.  Blog Harbor uses transfer usage.

You know how various and sundry religious, new age, and liberal climate freaks are all predicting some sort of coming apocalypse? I may end up joining their ranks.  Okay, I know it could be a little Spring Training hysteria but the Braves have won their first two Spring Training games.  Should I begin to worry?  The only way I know things would be back to normal is if they lose most of their remaining games.  I know, the Braves have been one of the most dominant teams for the past 15 years, but they rarely have a good Spring Training – or that’s what it seems like to those of us who suffer through it.

Georgie had a very quiet, tasteful graveside memorial today.  I’ve ordered her plaque that matches the others who are buried in the ‘family’ cemetery.  Doc is still being annoyingly close.

I am still trying to figure out how a person can have a hang-over from a cheep cigar and half a margarita.  Maybe it was the chocolate truffle.   I was talking to a friend who said her husband is still trying to figure out why he had one and he only had one glass of wine and no cigar.  In other words, it was a very successful party.  I am still exhausted.  So is everyone I’ve talked to who attended.

I’m too tired to even come up with a decent rant.  I have a couple, but will get to it later.

Flap mentions something I heard today.  Ginsburg isn’t doing well.  I don’t know about you but I would love to see another GWB appointment. (If such a thing is possible today).

Litigation run amok.

Okay, I have a question.  If the polar ice caps are melting – on a planet where there are allegedly no humans on it, do we blame humans for causing global warming by sending probes?  Or – just maybe – global warming is caused by – I just can’t get over this (sarcasm) THE SUN!  If National Geographic states that the polar ice caps on Mars hint that the SUN is the cause of global warming on Mars – then doesn’t the same hold true for Earth, especially given the fact that THE EARTH IS CLOSER TO THE SUN THAN MARS!  This isn’t rocket science here (okay maybe it is).

Woe be to the scientist who looks for other causes of global warming than human.

“…Abdussamatov believes that changes in the sun's heat output can account for almost all the climate changes we see on both planets. Mars and Earth, for instance, have experienced periodic ice ages throughout their histories. "Man-made greenhouse warming has made a small contribution to the warming seen on Earth in recent years, but it cannot compete with the increase in solar irradiance," Abdussamatov said. By studying fluctuations in the warmth of the sun, Abdussamatov believes he can see a pattern that fits with the ups and downs in climate we see on Earth and Mars. Abdussamatov's work, however, has not been well received by other climate scientists.  "His views are completely at odds with the mainstream scientific opinion," said Colin Wilson, a planetary physicist at England's Oxford University…."The solar irradiance began to drop in the 1990s, and a minimum will be reached by approximately 2040," Abdussamatov said. "It will cause a steep cooling of the climate on Earth in 15 to 20 years."”

Yet another fascinating archaeological find in Athens.

If you want to deal with global warming, maybe consider what could happen when and if Yellowstone erupted.

Some of the Earth’s crust is missing!

And a volcano erupts on Io.

Did you hear the one about Switzerland invading Lichtenstein?

So the dimwit (would someone please find a better word for me to use – I’m begging you!) scientists, when presented with information that is contrary to the facts they want, palm it off as global wobbling on a planet’s axis.  Heck, that argument could even be used to explain what is going on in Antarctica.  My kingdom for a brain, please!  SC blogger Earl Capps some interesting observations.

DEMS & LIBERALS UNHINGED

What will the Dems do when they don’t have GWB to kick around anymore?

REPUBLICANS

Interesting behind the scenes of the Spartanburg straw poll last night.  I find the whole process a little strange and just way to complicated.  I also see where there was room for some ‘rigging’.  I know this sounds silly, but are the Romney people going to play by the rules? There’s an odor here, but I don’t know which way the wind is blowing.   In many ways I think the big loser is going to be 4th District Congressman Bob Inglis.   I believe the more we know about this specific straw poll the more the word ‘fiasco’ is going to be used.

CONSERVATIVES GONE WILD

So conservatives at CPAC is depressed.  The should also be embarrassed, humiliated, ashamed, chagrined, and penitent.  But, will they learn from past mistakes – nah – blame it on GWB.  Why not, everyone else does.   Dr. Sanity calls it Bush Derangement Syndrome.

Read Called As Seen’s take on the latest AC snarky remark.

PRIMARIES 2008

There is something beautifully ironic about Obama (the messiah) being descended from slave owners.

Psst, not only did Obama’s (the messiah) US ancestors own slaves, but so did his African ones.

Rudy at CPAC.

Evidently Romney is going to surpass Obama (the current messiah) as the new 2nd coming.

Rudy’s day at CPAC – an additional update.

Ruffini says Rudy had a packed house at CPAC with the doors closed 20 minutes before he was due to speak.  If this was the case, why do we hear that Romney had a bigger crowd?  Did he draw a different hall or is someone not telling the truth?  My money is on Ruffini telling the truth. So….

RedState on Giuliani at CPAC

The most revealing aspect of Giuliani’s visit to CPAC comes from Fausta’s Blog.  She mentions that everyone else had front people handing out stickers and buttons, acting like carnival barkers, but Giuliani and Tony Snow were the most electrifying speakers in attendance.

Dear Lord in Heaven!  The 2008 Presidential Election has yet to occur, but we are already experiencing our first recount!  In that Spartanburg straw poll, McCain now ties Giuliani, or is ahead by 2 votes.  Let’s face it, if McCain had not pulled even, his campaign would be in serious trouble, or would appear to so be.  None of this is good news for Romney who still came in fourth.  It all makes much more sense to me.  As I mentioned last night, Spartanburg is a little more ‘liberal’ than the other counties in the Upstate.
