THE GREAT CAT SOAP OPERA

BIG NEWS:  Redford is now at the pediatrician waiting for surgery and perhaps a manicure.  I’m not sure about the manicure yet.  I’m still not sure which gender is Redford.  When I filled out his admitting form I also noted, that we were experiencing some, “gender identity issues.”  Let’s just say if the poor feline is male he is gay and if female then a lesbian.  I don’t even know if Redford knows for sure.  I do know, and Harold Hutchison over at Called As Seen will probably be emailing me by morning.  Maybe it will help if I tell him I feel like a jerk, already.

I’ve never seen a cat cry before.  I swear Redford was crying.  There were tears in his/her eyes, streaking down his/her face.  Catching the poor thing wasn’t a pretty sight.  Raymond grabbed him by the tail and lowered him into the carrier.  He settled down immediately. I’ve never felt so bad taking a child in to be ‘fixed’ before.  If it weren’t necessary I would go pick him up in the AM.  I’m still not convinced about the manicure.  Bat Masterson is a chair scratcher.  It was necessary with him.  Redford isn’t.  Doc isn’t.  The only thing Doc uses as a scratching post is Rumsfeld!

After consulting with the pediatrician’s assistant, we think Miss Piggy has severe seasonal allergies.  Dr. Franklin was out all day.  I’ll take her down another day.  She seems to be doing find.  CUTE ALERT:  Oh, this morning she was playing with Rumsfeld.  She was on her back doing the cute kitten thing she does so well.  Rumsfeld backs up and sits on her tummy.  Bat Masterson starts growling like, “leave my baby sister alone”.  Rumsfeld ignores him.  He stands up and Piggy grabs hold of his tail as he pulls her across the tile floor.  She then would do the same with his ears.  Bat Masterson finally had enough and basically threatened to beat Rumsfeld up if he did not leave Piggy alone.

I was going to do a major rant today, but I have so much information today, I am going to wait until tomorrow.

THE HEART OF GEORGE W. BUSH

This came from a friend.  If true, it is a perfect example of the man we have as POTUS.  I think the thing that truly bothers me is we will, in our lifetimes, probably never see the likes again.  It’s sorta like watching Johnny Bench from April of his rookie year to the day he stood there with his HOF plaque.  There will never be another.  And, thank heavens, the story is true!  Today while I was running errands, thinking about this piece, it made me quite sad.  I've realized we're only going to be blessed and honored with this great man as President of the United States of America for 22 more months.

“There is a man at Ridgecrest who is an ABI (Alabama Bureau Investigation) officer. He got up last night and told us about having the honor of being paired one of the secret service men who were with President Bush Saturday in Enterprise. He said when they started walking through the rubble at the school they came upon four students waiting for the President. They were in an area where on the floor there was a emblem that read EHS Class of 65. When the President approached the students he asked which one of you are the president (I assume president of the student body)? One of  the girls kind of raised her hand and said I am then she hung her head and started to cry. President Bush wrapped his arms around her and the other three joined them. Barry, the ABI officer said President Bush started to cry and said "It's tough being the president isn't it." Barry said he talked with them a little longer. He said he was very close to the President but couldn't hear every word that was spoken, but he could tell that the President was quoting scripture. After a while the President started walking again and said he wanted the emblem preserved whatever it took. The Mayor then spoke up and said they would take care of it and President Bush turned to him and said "I was speaking to the President." I bet that the Mayor closed his mouth then!!! and then President Bush said "by the way where are my children"? The four students who were lagging behind came running up to him and walked the rest of the way over to the church with him. The media were sent to a different area Barry said. When President Bush got inside the church to meet with the families of those that had been killed the secret serviceman turned to Barry and said this is as far as we go. This is his time with them. Barry then asked him if the President was protected and the secret servicemen said yes, he is protected, but not by us. Barry could hardly contain himself as he was telling us this last night. He said he told the secret service man that he wished everyone could witness what he just did then they could see that the most powerful man in the United States was just another human being, a father, a comforter, a friend and had true compassion for these people. However the media does not portrait that, big surprise! Of course I don't tell this story with the humility that Barry did because he was there, but I thought you might like to hear it.”

CONSERVATIVES GONE BAD

I think this is the perfect time to highlight just what is going on with extreme conservatives.  I think today we will highlight Paul Craig Roberts, since a very disgusting piece from him found it’s way into my inbox.

First, Roberts wants GWB impeached.

The piece is found on Lew Rockwell’s site.  Rockwell is very much anti-war.  Now, blessed Ron Paul is the candidate they are promoting.  If anyone needs to be kicked out of the GOP it is Paul.     In this piece it is though he is calling for open rebellion in the military.

This is the offending piece from Roberts.  If anything exemplifies the serious problem the GOP faces from the “right” well – here it is.    With conservatives like this, who needs liberals!  I am waiting for things like this to be denounced by the whacko wing of the conservatives, but I am not seeing it.

“…The first confession released by the Bush regime’s Military Tribunals – that of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed – has discredited the entire process. Writing in Jurist, Northwestern University law professor Anthony D’Amato likens Mohammed’s confession to those that emerged in Stalin’s show trials of Bolshevik leaders in the 1930s.

That was my own immediate thought. I remember speaking years ago with Soviet dissident Valdimir Bukovsky about the behavior of Soviet dissidents under torture. He replied that people pressed for names under torture would try to remember the names of war dead and people who had passed away. Those who retained enough of their wits under torture would confess to an unbelievable array of crimes in an effort to alert the public to the falsity of the entire process.  That is what Mohammed did. We know he was tortured, because his response to the obligatory question about his treatment during his years of detention is redacted. We also know that he was tortured, because otherwise there is no point for the US Justice (sic) Dept. memos giving the green light to torture or for the Military Commissions Act, which permits torture and death sentence based on confession extracted by torture. Mohammed’s confession of crimes and plots is so vast that Katherine Shrader of the Associated Press reports that the Americans who extracted Mohammed’s confession do not believe it either. It is exaggerated, say Mohammed’s tormentors, and must be taken with a grain of salt.  In other words, the US torture crew, reveling in their success, played into Mohammed’s hands. Pride goes before a fall, as the saying goes. Mohammed’s confession admits to 31 planned and actual attacks all over the world, including blowing up the Panama Canal and assassinating presidents Carter and Clinton and the Pope. Having taken responsibility for the whole ball of wax along with everything else that he could imagine, he was the entire show. No other terrorists needed. Reading responses of BBC listeners to Mohammed’s confession reveals that the rest of the world is either laughing at the US government for being so stupid as to think that anyone anywhere would believe the confession or damning the Bush regime for being like the Gestapo and KGB.  Humorists are having a field day with the confession: "’I’m a very dangerous mastermind,’ said Mohammed, who confessed to the kidnapping of the Lindbergh baby, the Brink’s robbery, St. Valentine’s Day Massacre, and the Lincoln and McKinley assassinations. Mohammed also accepted responsibility for spreading hay fever and cold sores around the world and for rained out picnics." If there was anything remaining of the Bush regime not already discredited, Mohammed’s confession removed any reputation left….”

The problem with Roberts is the fact that he has ‘respectability’.  He is a regular over on Newsmax, so has credibility.    My problem is anyone, and I do mean ANYONE who regularly contributes to Peter Brimelow’s racist and white supremacist VDARE should have no credibility.

What disturbs me most is people don't realize what a danger these far extreme right conservatives pose, not only to the GOP but to themselves and the country.

Can a third party conservative candidate be viable?  You’d better hope this bunch does not get their way.

IMMIGRATION

Strata on exploding the immigration myths.

The Real Cost of illegal immigration.

And the minuteman, et. al. crime watch continues.  Maybe they should be looking for illegal misappropriation of funds inside their own organizations before looking for illegals.    I’m loving this!

The whole tawdry Gilchrist dog and pony show goes to court on Wed.

A source forwarded a ‘private’ internal minuteman top secret email begging support for Gilchrist.

Dear Minutemen, see info below on the Rally for Jim. If any of the links below don't work for you, go to http://www.JimGilchrist.com for the online version and rally updates. Thanks Minutemen...

WHAT: A Rally to Support Jim Gilchrist! WHY: See below. WHEN: Wednesday, March 21, 2007  WHERE: Superior Court of California Central Justice Center (CJC) 700 Civic Center Drive West Santa Ana, CA 92701
TIME: 2:00-2:30pm: Suggest supporters begin arriving at the front of the Court  House 2:30pm: Rally to Support Jim Gilchrist!

There is no telling how long the hearing will take. We hope that the judge  will make a final decision in court on Wednesday.  I'm sure Jim will stop by to visit with supporters at the rally and make a  few comments after the hearing.  SPECIAL NOTE: Many of us are very upset and angry with all that has  happened, thanks to the hijackers. This rally is not about them, nor is it a "protest" against them - it is  rally FOR Jim Gilchrist! Keep your signs and actions positive.  If you see the hijackers, please  follow this strict policy: Do not shout, argue, or interact with them in any way. If they pass you  by, the best thing you can do is ignore them or better yet, turn your back  to them. We do not need to create a spectacle for the media. Shunning the  hijackers makes a strong statement - right now, at the rally, and in the  future.

DETAILS: -- Bring signs supporting Jim Gilchrist and lots of American flags! -- Also bring digital and video cameras to record the event and remember  to send me copies for the website! -- As with all MMP rallies, we can expect the open-border anarchists and  communist meddlers to show up. -- We expect the media will cover this event. -- There seems to be plenty of paid parking [see parking map], but if  possible try to use public transportation. WHY: A Rally for Jim Gilchrist? Because its time for us to stand strong for Jim! The hijacking of the Minuteman Project organized by Deborah  Courtney/Peterson, Paul E. Seilski [Courtney's boyfriend], Marvin Stewart  and Barbara Coe [CCIR], has put our entire national effort in a  standstill. While many of us have fought against the open-border policies of Congress  and the Clinton, Bush I and Bush II administrations, let's remember that  it was Jim Gilchrist who put this issue in the headlines of newspapers and  cable news shows across the nation - and kept it there. Jim Gilchrist  brought more national awareness to the illegal alien invasion crisis in  two years than all the other activist groups combined have done in 40  years. "That" is an unprecedented accomplishment! It was just over two years ago, when Jim sent a simple email asking  patriots meet him in Tombstone near the Arizona border.  He asked them to  bring binoculars, law chairs, cell phones and a determination to help him  do the job government refused to do: secure our borders and enforce U.S.
immigration laws. He expected only a few dozen Americans to join up. Yet thousands came to  stand watch with him during that long hot month in April 2005. Today there  are hundreds of thousands of Minutemen across the USA. Many affiliated  with the Minuteman Project, while others are independent organizations -
but all of them got their start thanks to the vision of Jim Gilchrist. Now Jim Gilchrist needs OUR help.
Despite what the hijackers claim, Jim Gilchrist was never paid one dime  out of Minuteman Project funds. He has never, taken anything for himself.  He is, in the truest sense, a 21st Century Minuteman, giving everything
for the Cause.  How this could have happened to a dedicated patriot like Jim Gilchrist is  mind boggling. All of us are still stunned. We know now that our greatest  mistake was putting trust in impostors who viewed the Minuteman Project as  a gold mine… and to capture it, devised a sinister plan to get rid of Jim,  and put themselves in his place. Friends, for over two years now, Jim has given up his personal life to  build the Minuteman Project and educate Americans and Congress about the  dangers of unsecured borders. He has never asked anything for himself.  On Wednesday March 21, he will be in the Superior Court in
Santa Ana,
 California
as a plaintiff.  He will demand a permanent injunction against  the defendants [Coe, Courtney and Stewart] to stop their hijack attempt. We are asking all of you to come to the courthouse to show your support
for Jim Gilchrist.  This is our chance to let him know that we stand by his side. Stay tuned to Jim's website at: http://www.JimGilchrist.com for any rally  updates.  Remember to bring your cameras and video recorders, and please send me  copies for posting on the website!

As Jim always says, "Come on, Americans.  Let's roll!"
For the Cause, Linda
PS -- I know this is short notice for a rally, and it's in the middle of a  work day… but this is for Jim! I hope you can make it and please pass this  note on to all!

This is so much fun.  Read this article and you will discover maybe Barbara Coe is distancing herself from this bunch.

ISLAM, TERROR, IRAQ, IRAN

I was going to simply leave this category out today until I read Malkin’s very disturbing account of an Iraq vet living near Atlanta that was forced to shoot in self defense after being assaulted by Islamists.  It is disturbing because I am terribly afraid this is a sign of things to come.  Are these people now going to begin hounding our returning vets?  If so, what are we going to do about it? Jawa

Jawa has a report that this same Atlanta neighborhood has Islamics who have made death threats against ‘offensive’ bumper stickers.  It is entirely possible this isn’t isolated and is the sign of things to come.

Along this line is a posting from PowerLine about a bully tactic of the “flying imams’ who are planning to file a lawsuit against anyone they feel threatened their religious freedom.

PRIMARIES 2008

Rasmussen 2008 GOP match-ups

Rudy on Citgo.

Rudy on Citgo from the Giuliani blog.

Considering the Dem field and his previous standings, maybe Richardson has made the greatest gain according to the latest Rasmussen.

Why Hillary fears Obama (the messiah).

Excellent pro-Giuliani commentary from RCP.

My fears about Peggy Noonan have been realized.  There is talk she is going to work for Romney.

The real Giuliani.

McCain blames the Club for Growth for the 2006 GOP loss.  You know, I just might agree with him.

A major endorsement for Giuliani.

Evidently Thompson is serious. Maybe.

Why aren’t more Republicans stepping up to endorse Giuliani.

Is Obama too hard-line against Israel?

Is Romney a great communicator or just dishonest.

This was in today’s Opinion Journal Political Diary by John Fund.   At least we now know one of the sources for the hits on Giuliani.

“George Marlin, former chairman of New York's Port Authority, once ran against Rudy Giuliani for mayor in 1993 as the candidate of the small but influential New York Conservative Party. His contention then, as now, is that Mr. Giuliani is a man of great gifts, but one should never forget that he is a hopeless liberal on too many issues to ever secure the trust of national conservatives.  Now Mr. Marlin, author of a seminal work on the influence of Catholics in American politics, is back with a new anti-Rudy effort. His Web site www.rudysreallyliberal.com is chock full of eye-popping Giuliani quotes over the years, including many quotes that voters in New Hampshire and Iowa can expect to hear frequently repeated in coming months.

Among the extensively documented quotes: On abortion, he told New York Newsday in 1989: "I'd give my daughter the money for it [an abortion]." On Bill Clinton, when he was running for re-election in 1996: "Most of Clinton's policies are very similar to most of mine." On conservative icon Barry Goldwater, as quoted in the New York Daily News of 1997: "[He was] an incompetent, confused and sometimes idiotic man."

The Giuliani campaign has declined to address each individual quote, making do with a statement saying: "People are entitled to their own opinions, not their own facts. The facts are these: Rudy Giuliani is a proved fiscal conservative with a long record of fighting crime, reducing welfare and lowering taxes, leading George Will to call his time as mayor the most successful example of conservative governance in 50 years."

Somehow I think Mr. Giuliani is not going to get away with that deflection for very long. At some point, he is going to have to address the lingering -- and in some cases growing -- concerns that his past statements and actions are creating among conservatives.”
