Thursday was not a good day for me, technologically.  My trackbacks were all screwed up.  I know not why.  Then, my server dropped some important mails.  They showed up on my Blackberry but never made it to a download.  I know not why.

Miss Piggy has a sneeze.  I do not know if it is allergy related or something else. I think she and (auntie) Doc are going to go for a check-up next week.  Today Piggy learned how to jump into the bath-tub, sans water.  Once in, she just sat there, “Okay guys.  I figured it out.  But, what’s going on?”

It just dawned on me that I have no rant for the day.  I had a number of ideas, but ran out of brain power.  Maybe it was the daffodils.  I had a little tacky snit today at Albertsons.  First I was bundling up a few daffys (okay 18 bunches – 10 in each for $1.99).  As I am gathering my precious prize some woman comes over and complains I’ve taken most of the daffodils.  I explain they are my favorite flower and I get them a grand total of once a year.  Then the moronic check-out dimwit decides to charge me four bucks a bunch.  I quickly stopped her, but was a little testy.

I’ve never experienced road rage before, but….if you happen to be from Texas and are driving a brand new – very clean – white Excursion around Ruidoso this week, when I see you, you are going to get one nasty blast of my horn.  I turned on my right signal nearly a half-block before my turn, slowed, and you were driving too fast.

Captain Ed has made an interesting announcement (kudos) and wonders when the hobby became the profession.  I think I can ask the same thing.  I am spending so much time working on this blasted blog I no longer have time for my ‘writing’ the way that I should.  Something needs to either change or give.

Lindsey was in on that hearing at Gitmo the other day.

Was the 9/11 mastermind abused during interrogation? Lindsey’s comment.

 LYIN' DEMS

How could something so simple as a President’s right to fire someone he appointed be blown out of proportion?

From Dick Morris Reports today.  It seems like he has the same idea I do about why the Dems are attacking Gonzales.

“…THE TOTALLY PHONY US ATTORNEY SCANDAL…Meanwhile, the Democrats are trying to dominate the media – now that Bush has good news from Iraq – with the phoniest of all scandals since the Valerie Plane leak. They are outraged that Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales fired seven US Attorneys. But these officials serve at the president’s pleasure! He can fire any of them anytime for any reason. If he didn’t like their hairstyle, he could bounce them. In fact, their four year terms had all expired and they were being carried on month-to-month anyway. So what is the big deal? The Democrats (and some confused Republicans like Senator John Ensign of Nevada) say that Gonzales fired the prosecutors for political reasons – that they failed to be sufficiently aggressive in prosecuting certain cases such as voter fraud prosecutions. Well, so what? That’s why we have political appointees in the US Attorney jobs. If we wanted nonpolitical figures, we would make them civil service positions. We have an appointed Attorney General and appointed US Attorneys precisely so that the president can impact their prosecutorial decisions to conform to his policy and program priorities. But watch the Democrats use this crazy issue to attack the Administration – especially after they couldn’t pass the Iraq troop withdrawal.”

 PRIMARIES 2008

Does Romney finally have an opinion on immigration?

What would a Fred Thompson run do to the polls?

Rudy leading Hillary in Rasmussen.

From the same Dick Morris Report, why are we seeing a coordinated attack on Rudy?

“…THE CLINTONS DUMP ON RUDY…It all started when Rudy’s son complained that he was estranged from his father and bitter over his divorce and remarriage to Judith Nathan. Then a 1989 film clip of Rudy endorsing Medicaid payments for abortion suddenly was all over the internet. Back when Giuliani had hair – sort of – he backed government aid to women seeking to terminate their pregnancies. Then the New York Times published a story that Rudy’s Houston law firm Bracewell $ Giuliani represented the Citgo Petroleum Corporation, the American subsidiary of Venezuela’s state-owned oil company controlled by Hugo Chavez. The firm was paid $5,000 per month to lobby Texas state government on “tax, environmental, and permitting issues” according to a Citgo spokesman.

How did the Times learn about the Citgo relationship? Apparently some enterprising soul went through the filings of the Texas Ethics Commission to find this juicy nugget. And, last week, coincidentally, the US Attorney’s office leaked to the media that it had explored a possible plea bargain with former New York City Police Commissioner and Giuliani associate Bernard Kerick who became known nationally when President Bush nominated him to be Homeland Security Chief, but then had to withdraw the nomination. Kerick has been found guilty of a state misdemeanor. How did these four stories materialize? Our bet is that the Clinton Secret Police – the detectives Hillary has at her beck and call – have been working overtime to dig up dirt on Rudy to derail his candidacy. Hillary knows that Giuliani is her most formidable possible foe and is determined to throw mud at him to put obstacles in his path. Her ‘enforcer’ Howard Wolfson refused to respond when one interviewer asked him about whether the Clinton campaign was looking into the backgrounds of other candidates...”
