My regular readers know I completely disagree with Malkin on immigration.  BUT, I agree with her on most other things.  Today’s posting, Why I Believe the US Army…” is absolutely MAGNIFICANT!  I think with all the Dem pandering (another word for prostituting) for anti-war votes, this is the perfect time for her to write this specific column.  And then she hits the Dems for their lies about the armor problem in Iraq.

THE GREAT CAT SOAP OPERA

For some strange reason Miss Piggy’s once very white tummy is now gray.  The only logical explanation is the fact that she’s been exploring something she should not explore.  She is getting this gorgeous collar of long fur around her neck, and taking on all the attributes of a ‘show’ Weegie.  It is too bad her pedigree is so dubious or she hit the feline beauty pageant circuit.  On a sad note, Brunhilda has stopped eating.  I’m afraid we are dealing wit the beginning of the end.  I don’t have the heart to take her to Dr. Franklin.  Two years ago Friday I took Clancy in because she was in pain and I never saw her again.  She had a crushed vertebra and at her age it was inoperable. She’s buried in the little pet cemetery in my parent’s courtyard.  And I just realized it is two years ago today that I adopted Ronald Rumsfeld Reagan Reidhead.  As I just emailed his godmother, his behavior  has not improved one little bit since that day!

Global warming is nothing compared to a big asteroid hit.

I have a question, if the DHS has noted that the conditions in the ‘detainment camps’ for illegal immigrants are sub-standard, why isn’t O’Reilly taking note.  He gave the whole process a pass the other day, because the ACLU is complaining.

TODAY'S RANT - THE DEMS NEED TO ACT LIKE GROWN-UPS!

Years ago, when Ronald Reagan was still POTUS and there was still a Soviet Union, I decided I wanted to go into the jewelry business.  By now you have probably figured out that I can’t do anything the ‘normal’ way.  I couldn’t sell just any jewelry.  I had to make periodic trips from South Carolina to New Mexico (anything to go ‘out west’) at least twice a year buying jewelry. Well…I was looking for lapis heishi.  I ended up at this ‘trading post’ i.e. jewelry wholesaler in ABQ over on Central.  There were two men working behind the counter.  Before long another half dozen came in, all interested in talking to me.  I don’t mind admitting they were a little spooky.  But, me being me, I started asking questions.

They were either brothers or cousins, all from Afghanistan and members of the Mujahideen. That made me even more curious, so I began asking even more questions.  They were very polite and had excellent manners.  One by one they began telling me stories of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, and the effect on their very large extended family, that lived in that mountainous region near Pakistan.  (I hope you are getting the picture of just who I was talking too).  They told how they would discover large deposits of lapis, then set up what looked like a military camp.  The Soviets would come along and bomb it.  They would go back in, pick up the lapis instead of mining it, then caravan it into Pakistan, where they would pack it up and one or two of them would bring it to their shop in ABQ.  There they would sell it for a large price, take the money, buy guns, then those two would go back to Afghanistan to “Fight the Rooskies”.  Then the process would begin all over again.  When my friend Paul, who had a wholesale business a few blocks from then discovered where I was he had a fit.  “Do you have any idea who you were talking to?”  I was informed, very succinctly, that they were gun-runners and very shady characters with some very questionable contacts back in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and a few other places.  I was also told before it was over, we would be at war with them, that  he thought more than fighting the ‘Rooskies’ was going on with them.  That in his way of thinking he felt they were into some strange religious practices. (I think I still have a piece of jewelry I bought from one of them).

Rewind back to the Ford Administration.  My sister was dating a guy from Iran.  He was trying to get her to marry him.  His family had Persian roots that went back about 3000 years.  The family had been living in the same location for nearly 2000 years of that time.  He was extremely aristocratic, his father a good friend of the Shaw of Iran.  So, when Carter did not have the guts to but a bullet between the cold-blooded sociopath eyes of Ayatolla Khomeini, we lost tack of my sister’s friend.  For years we tried to find out information about him, but could only get nebulous tidbits.  Years later I saw him when I was in France.  It was a shocker, but there he was sitting at a table next to me on a nice little outdoor restaurant.  (I am not saying where, nor am I giving his name).  We think he is still alive, living in exile.

Fast-forward to my gallery in South Carolina.  The one thing I always noticed was when the liberal university professorial types would come in with their kids, they were absolute monsters.  They touched everything.  These were the kids would inevitably break something, usually expensive.  When one of us would confront their parents, we were insulted.  Why their kids would do noting like that.  Even if they had, we should not have had the item where I child could break it.

So now we are finally getting around to the point of my rant and rave for the day.  Way back in the tacky 1970’s Jimmy Carter “broke” Iran by allowing the Ayatolla Khomeini to take power and allowed the Shaw to be deposed.  Let’s face it, we are still trying to clean up the mess he made.  He broke it, but the Dems, the true liberals that they are, don’t have the morality to fix it.  I won’t say Bush ‘broke’ Iraq, but because of Carter’s mess in Iran, Iraq is ‘broken’.  We Republicans (well those of us who are grown-ups want to stay and clean up the mess.  The spoiled brats that they are, the liberals once again want to walk away from their mess, the same way I would do when I was five year old and would trash my cousin Michael’s bedroom.  (He had more interesting toys than I did).  My aunt would tell me I need to help Michael clean up the mess.  “I think I hear my mommy calling,” and I was outta there.

The liberals are the very same way.  “I think I hear my mommy calling,” and they are running in the opposite direction.  The difference is the fact that I grew up and started cleaning up my own messes.  The difference is I am a grown up and understand the need to stay and finish what we started.  Too bad Hillary doesn’t understand this.

Is there no end to their defeatist attitude?  The only reason Hil can possibly be demanding we begin pulling out of Iraq in 90 days is because The Bush Surge is working (so far – knock on wood).  (The Mudville Gazette)  There could be a whole lot of little cut and run Copperhead Dems and fink GOP turncoats (we have your names and now which district you represent) who are going to come out of this looking like the fools they are.  In order for them not to do this, and in order for them to completely turn GWB into a total looser, they must turn potential victory into a very serious defeat in the war on terror.

I just don’t understand.

Oh, I do.  Hillary is pandering to the gentle anti-war souls on the far left, but when does political pandering become a crime?  Let’s face it, prostitution is illegal in every state but Nevada, which explains why Dirty Harry Reid can get away with what he does, but let’s be serious for a moment.  If this women does not have the courage to stand up to the liberal anti-war base, she has no business even being nominated for the most difficult job in the world.  I’ve said it before and will say it again, the woman lacks personal courage to make the serious and consequential decisions.

Captain Ed has an interesting constitutional take on it.  If Hillary and the Dems were to demand a troop pullout in 90 days and try to cut off funding, we all know GWB would take them all the way to the SCOTUS.  If this is the case, what will Lieberman do?  Will this be enough to cause Lieberman to switch parties?  If so, then the whole Senate Democrat house of cards comes crashing down with a whoosh and not a thud.

But there is more.  Now the Senate Dems promise to keep up the anti-war pressure.    Surely they are seeing what has happened this week in Iraq.  According to a recent Ipsos poll, 63% oppose the surge, but yet 60% do not want to see a cut in funding, so what’s up here?  The only thing that makes the least bit of sense to me is the fact that the Dems fear a Bush victory more than they fear a stunning setback and defeat in the war on terror.  Maybe I’m expecting honor out of men and women who have none.  What would they be doing if anyone but Bush were POTUS? That’s the real question.

“…Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., told Democrats, "You want to be seen in history, I guess, or for the next election that `this wasn't my idea, this was Bush's folly.' "If you believe half of what you're saying in these resolutions then have the courage of your convictions to stop this war by cutting off funding. But no one wants to do that because they don't really know how that's going to play out here at home."

All of this leads me here.  For the past few days I’ve been seeing hints on milblogs that we are not dealing with a civil war in Iraq, but are dealing with terror.  The Mudville Gazette   mentions it, along with a WTimes   piece about Al Qaeda.  Evidently they have overplayed the game and the Sunni tribes in the Anbir province are turning to the US for help, working with our troops. This is a very, very, very big deal, and we aren’t even hearing it on FOX.

“…By a U.S. count, 12 of the Ramadi area's 21 tribes are cooperating in the security effort, six are considered neutral, and three are actively hostile. That is almost the reverse of the tribal posture last June, when three were cooperative and 12 were hostile….”

If so, there is no civil war.  If so, the MSM is wrong.  If so the Dems are wrong.  And  now you know the real reason the Dems want to pull out of Iraq.  If is entirely possible GWB is going to pull this thing off, yet.  If so, BUSH – 1 DEMS – 0.  By the time all of this come down we’re going to be so far along into the 2008 election cycle it is really going to make  Read Mark Steyn’s column today.

And then read the op-ed from Investor’s Business Daily.

“…Jihad Jaara, a senior member of the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, said before the 2006 vote: "Americans should vote Democratic," adding that "it is time the American people support those who want to take them out of the Iraqi mud." The statement could have come from Murtha, Kerry, Hillary or any number of Democrats….We find it scary that the Democratic and terrorist game plans are indistinguishable…”

I like this:

“…Neville Chamberlain's naivete may have helped bring on World War II, but at least he supported his country when war began. Norway's Vidkun Quisling and France's Vichy government under Marshal Petain may have collaborated with the Nazi enemy, but after their countries' defeats, not before.  We'd have to go back to Benedict Arnold to find Americans as eager as Murtha & Co. to see an American defeat on the battlefield. They are working on the game plan of al-Qaida's No. 2, Ayman al-Zawahiri. In October 2005, Zawahiri outlined al-Qaida's plan in a letter to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, late head of al-Qaida in Iraq:  "The first stage: Expel the Americans from Iraq. The second stage: Establish an Islamic authority . . . over as much territory as you can spread its power in Iraq . . . in order to fill the void stemming from the departure of the Americans."John Murtha and his perfidious friends are working on creating that void and completing Zawahiri's first stage. They are the appeasers Churchill warned about who hope that by feeding the Islamofascist tiger, it will eat us last….”

When you bring up the name of Benedict Arnold, you are bringing up the name of the most infamous traitor in US history.  Does this say anything about Murtha, Reid, Pelosi, Clinton, Obama, & Company?

Outside the Beltway has a commentary on the issue.

Flopping Aces has a long term view of the War on Terror.

Wizbang has several good posts.  Just hit ‘em all.

I was under the impression the “Year of the Pig” was a bad thing.  Evidently we have been sold a politically correct crock intended to once again appease the bigots of Islam.  Instead, The Year of the Pig is a lucky one.  Maybe it is unlucky because The Year of the Pig signals those wascally infidels may deal a huge blow to Islamic terror?   We need to do something because the way it looks now, Islamic terror is spreading all across North Africa.  Any good historian can see a parallel to the early days of Islam, but we are living in an age of historical stupidity.

PRIMARIES 2008

I love it.  John Edwards, aka the Breck Boy, and Mitt Romney’s Dem flip-flopping counterpart, are now getting a little testy with one another.  This is fun. So who is telling the truth, Edwards or Kerry?  From the mind of Andrew Sullivan, “Romney’s Religious Bigotry”.  I think it is much, much more.  It just proves to me Romney truly does not understand the Constitution of the United States of America.  This is just more evidence.  Dick Morris on Hillary’s major weak spot:  Senator Stubborn. Evidently that $2 million mark was fairly close for Bill Richardson.  Why did Romney vote for Tsnogas?  Giuliani primary #’s. Romney flipped and flopped about taxes today. Was Romney a Dem in 1992?  Why is he lying about it.
