ALIPAC PUSH POLLING IN IOWA

Jonathan Martin of the Politico is wondering if Huckabee can hang in there in Iowa.  He rightly attributes Huckabee’s drop on the candidate himself.  Digger, is contributing Huckabee’s drop to all the wonderful things the anti-immigration zealots are doing with their push polls, especially ALIPAC.
“…Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC) released the initial results of their informative poll of Republican voters in Iowa which asked, "Do you support or oppose Mike Huckabee's touchback amnesty plan to allow the illegal aliens to leave the US and return legally in one day?" with initial responses showing GOP voters reject Huckabee's plan by a factor of 6 to 1.

Of the thousands of voters that responded to the automated poll, 65% said they opposed the plan, 25% were undecided, and only 10% supported the plan.  "It is hard to say which reading is more telling," said William Gheen. "The 65% opposition is a devastating result for any campaign, but the 10% support level should send a clear message to Mike Huckabee and Mike Pence about how Americans feel about touchback amnesty."  ALIPAC's William Gheen, Dan Smeriglio of Voice of the People, and Peter Gadiel of 9/11 Families for a Secure America are on the ground in Iowa spreading the word about Huckabee's Dec. 9th comments about letting the illegals return in a day. They are conducting many talk radio interviews, while the phone bank poll continues to contact voters. ALIPAC is considering buying radio ads and launching volunteer phone calls to further warn voters.  "There is absolutely no way that Mike Huckabee can be in the lead in Iowa among Republican voters, unless they are in the dark about his record and stances on immigration issues," says Gheen who is a veteran campaign consultant. "Before our team leaves Iowa, we will have done our best to rectify the situation."…’

Voice of the People  (some of them) is also taking part in the push polling in Iowa to take out Mike Huckabee.
“… Also on the very same day, I am extremely happy to announce that I (Daniel Smeriglio) will be joining our good friend William Gheen of ALIPAC and Mr. Peter Gadiel of 9/11 Families for a secure America on the crusade against the illegal alien loving presidential candidate Mike Huckabee! If you are not aware Mr Huckabee is currently leading the polls in Iowa with an eight point margin and that is 100% unacceptable! So Mr Gheen is leading a group of anti illegal immigration leaders to the great state of Iowa so to spread the word to all of the great residents of the state as well as all the media outlets from Iowa about Mr Huckabees lies and deceit that he is now trying to use in order to win in the state! We will be in Iowa from December 26 through December 30th going door to door, making phone calls, media/radio interviews, as well as holding a press conference from the state as well. It is hard work that will be required of us but if it needs to get done then it needs to get done! No exceptions! So shortly after our press conference I will be taking off for Iowa representing Voice of the people USA and the great citizens of Hazleton PA as well! It is an honor and a privilege to be included in this action and god willing we can stop another politician who supports illegal's to slip through the cracks and get into the white house.….”

IS IMMIGRATION THE CLINCHER?

It all boils down to immigration folks.
From The Prowler
“…Romney has flip-flopped on the immigration issue, the one issue that Tancredo drove during his long-shot presidential bid, and a number of advisers to Tancredo on the immigration issue had been pressing him over the past three days to endorse former Sen. Fred Thompson, whose illegal immigration policies are more in line with Tancredo's. In fact several months ago, according to an influential anti-immigration-reform adviser to Tancredo, as well as other conservatives, Tancredo was prepared to endorse Thompson if he came out in support of Tancredo's specific anti-illegal-immigration policy proposals. But Thompson was not yet in the presidential race, and Tancredo instead decided to push forward with his own campaign. "We're all scratching our heads a little on this one," says the immigration adviser. "It isn't the one we would have had him made, but Bay is extremely influential with him and clearly her advice carried more sway than our opinion did."

A member of Tancredo's campaign says that while Buchanan's opinion might have had greater influence than others, Tancredo's main criterion was electability. "Romney has made the better showing thus far, and Tom wants to have a influence in the Republican Party beyond Iowa," says the adviser. "Romney was just the smarter pick."…”

UNMITIGATED ARROGANCE
I wish I would simply get over being filled with shock and awe at the constantly unmitigated gall the anti-immigration Nativists show.  Do they get worse or am I just annoyed with them?  So now, by basically unethical push-polling they are now declaring that THEY are setting the agenda and are going to be the ones who decide who Iowans are going to be voting for in a few days.
