The Pink Flamingo’s 53rd Edition of Thursday Thirteen
Thirteen Things I Need To Do
(Before my party tomorrow night)

1.  Pack up Christmas wrap – done

I need to slide the container down 1 more flight of stairs then figure out how to stash it under the bed in the guestroom.

2.  Clean up “desk” – in progress (always)

I need to open Christmas cards, stash books, go through my new date book, and find a place to put that blasted ultimate cat toy 18th Century antique candle dryer or turn it into a festive centerpiece.

3.  Hang pictures given to me for my birthday, by the friend coming tonight
     (Where are the blasted pictures?)

While I’m at it, I need to hang the pictures she framed for me last Christmas!

4.  Sort through and put up birthday presents (from Dec 2 party) – in progress (sort of)  Fix a stack of things I am ‘re-gifting’ back to Sydney when she turns 9 next summer. (She and her mother gave me a ‘treasure’ box full of stuff like squirt guns, pezz, poppers.  Sydney will be on the receiving end of much of it.  I’ve already warned her mother.

Speaking of Sydney for Christmas I gave her a pair of marshmallow guns.  Her mother is thinking of ways for revenge as I type.  Just wait until she sees the gift my mother has for Sydney tomorrow – a case of 10” confetti poppers.  (If she opens on in my condo tomorrow night, I’m taking back the guns).

5.  Wrap Christmas present for Miss Beverly Sills’ godmother’s cat
(Tinsel balls soaked in primo c-nip)

Write Thank-You note to Miss Beverly Sills’ godmother for her nifty toy.  It is a little sonic wire with a couple pieces of paper on the end.  “Bubbles” and the adult cats are going nuts when I play with it.

Write Thank-You note to a friend for a gift – note paper on table beside me.

6.  Lord Have Mercy!  Clean off my kitchen bar!  Find a place for the teapot my    mother gave me for Christmas, along with the antique spoon holder and Waterford toothpick holder!  I also need to find a place to put the iris pattern collector plate.

7.  Finish putting bar ware back in dish-washer where they had been removed by mistake before they were clean.  Go somewhere and pick up a gallon of cheap white vinegar to dump in the dishwasher in the rinse cycle.  I need to have this done by early tomorrow so Maggie can help me unload the dishwasher and put the glasses back on the rack – by my 6:30 party.  (I have a 1:30 beauty shop appointment with Leroy tomorrow, so need to be ready to sail through things when Maggie comes).

8.  Make my specialty tropical ‘dressing’ balls, then figure out how to cook a few dozen of them in my little toaster oven. If I get around to it, make some filo dough appetizers.  This may not happen. I have cream cheese for a nifty new recipe, but we all know I’ll never get around to it.   I did pull the ‘family secret’ frozen yeast rolls out of the freezer.

9.  Remember to buy ice!  I also need to remember to ask the parents to bring me a few gallons of water.  I use their RO system.  It’s a heck of a lot cheaper than buying it.
10.  Come up with something to lift poor little Rumsfeld out of his post-Season, kitten induced depression.  The poor little guy is pathetic.  It’s too cold for me to take him out today when I run a couple errands.  I feel so sorry for him.  Yesterday he was like a sugared up three year old on Christmas.  He was so naughty at his grandparents’ yesterday that he earned a well-deserved two hour time out back in the guest room with his cousin, Fred (the cat).

11.  Keep the cats out of the plants until the party is over!

12.  I need to remember to throw the stick of butter, that was on the kitchen counter, out, or check to see how much of it Miss Beverly Sills licked.  I must put her on the counter to feed her canned cat foot.  No place else is safe from Rumsfeld, who doesn’t need a steady diet of Fancy Feast no matter how depressed he is.  I need to use the butter this afternoon on the yeast rolls!

13.  The only way I can describe the impending “pick-up” of kitty and poodle toys and Christmas gifts is a round-up.  They are everywhere! (the gifts not the cats).  I’m halfway tempted just to leave them scattered all over the floor.
