CONSERVATIVES AND ARROGANCE

Steve Maloney has an interesting commentary on his blog today about Mike Huckabee.  In may ways it reflects some of my own thinking about Mike Huckabee.  I left a comment on his blog about my thoughts.  Huckabee is getting just a tad arrogant.  There’s way to much “Buzz” going on around him.  Republicans, unlike Dems, don’t like arrogance in their candidates.  I just don’t’ see Huckabee playing well past Iowa. Steve has also done some fascinating research about something Huckabee put on his blog a few months ago.

The fascinating part is the fact that after Steve cited it, it has now been removed from Huckabee’s blog.  The article, by Dr. Laurence White, is entitled God and Caesar and can be found elsewhere. Maybe I’m just not bright enough to comprehend what Dr. White is trying to say, but it does tell us why Huckabee is surging in Iowa.

There is this self-righteous, purity that inhabits both parties in Iowa.  If I am insulting any Iowans, that is not my intention as Iowa is one of the best places to antique in the country. I’m also going to say that I think Iowa is a terribly boring place to drive through with beautiful farms and beautiful land. The most exciting thing going for them are the Presidential caucuses every four years which do a grave disservice to the rest of the nation.  This Republican is sick and tired of it.  I am thrilled to see that Rudy Giuliani is not in Iowa pandering and groveling the way Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee are.  It is demeaning, degrading, and just plain old downright disgusting.  My great wish is that who ever wins in Iowa and New Hampshire (for both parties) goes no farther in the race, simply to downgrade the importance of those two annoying little states of spoiled brats who think they speak for the nation.  I think the recent announcement that Giuliani is pulling out of New Hampshire is a welcome sign for those of us would like to see Iowa and New Hampshire neutered.

ATTACK AND COUNTER-ATTACK
We constantly hear of agents for Huckabee, Romney,  Paul and even Fred Thompson practicing their dirty tricks on one another, and anyone else who is ahead of them.  Funny, but aren’t they the “conservative” choices.  The irony is that the two “Moderate” choices, McCain and Giuliani are the only ones we’ve not heard campaign allegations of dirty tricks.  While I know this is not an indictment of the “conservative” end of things, it is rather ironic.

Who is behind the “Conservative” attacks against Mike Huckabee?  The conservative blogsphere and punditdom are all very well organized against Huckabee.  This bunch is also quite anti-immigration.  Is there a link?  As mentioned in my previous post, does anti-immigration trump everything else?  Is it necessary to sell one’s soul on immigration?  The uninitiated would assume (ass u me) that the conservative media would be intellectually honest about things.  The problem is the conservative media has been bought and paid for by two specific entities both working for a common agenda, consequently, when minuteman co-founder Jim Gilchrist steps out of line, Michelle Malkin is sent to threaten him in the pages of the Washington Times.

One can only imagine the hopped up, crocodile tears of the conservative blogs on the morrow when Joe Lieberman endorses John McCain.  It is a logical and reasonable endorsement from one of the few truly honorable Democrats who remain in the party for a reasonable and honorable Republican.  There is going to be a conservative feeding frenzy over the endorsement from Rush Limbaugh on down.  One can only imagine the cruelty Limbaugh will toss at McCain.  It’s too bad Conservatives are so good, decent, and honorable, or I would suspect a rather nefarious agenda.  But – conservatives are perfect.

WHY THE ATTACK?
I don’t like Mike Huckabee.  The more I see and hear of him the less I like him.  Conversely, the more I see and hear of John McCain the more I like him.  BUT – I don’t approve of this pack, group-think attack on Huckabee.  It is quite fascinating, though, leading to more than a few questions.

1.  Who ordered the attack?
2.  Who is the conservative group think crowd supporting?
3.  Who is their next target?
4.  Why are the attacking Huckabee?

We are all familiar with the Conservative Group Think attacks against John McCain, lead apparently by Rush Limbaugh, who hates McCain and Lindsey to the point where it is almost pathological.  Evidently these people think they have disposed of McCain, so they are going to ‘take out’ Huckabee.

Fasten your seatbelts.  It is going to be a bumpy ride.

FYI – These so called “Group Think Conservatives” have nothing to do with anything remotely resembling the Republican Party.  I am waiting for the day when they are driven out of the party and completely marginalized.  The beautiful part of all of this is conservatives are going a long way to marginalizing themselves.

Frankly, I am celebrating their demise.

Long live the GOP!
