JOHN TANTON & MICHELLE MALKIN

NOTE:  This a rant and a posting gone wrong and in a completely different direction than originally planned!  I was going to base it on Tanton, but after reading one of the Dawn Patrol links, I've basically lost it.

I found a fascinating little posting over on Malkin decrying Planned ParenthoodI would be in full agreement with her on the posting EXCEPT for one thing.  It seems like John Tanton is one of Planned Parenthood’s most ardent supporters.  That would be fine and good except that John Tanton is also the power behind the anti-immigration movement. You will find quite a bit about this in my Blog Critics piece about John Tanton.

Malkin also reports on the idiots who are having their tubes tied to save the planet.  I agree with her.  They are idiots.  My problem – Malkin is inconsistent.  She constantly uses nativist incorrect material from the various John Tanton front organizations like Numbers USA, FAIR, etc. and never bothers to connect them to Tanton and his extreme environmental stance.  This whole thing is a scam by Tanton.  Get rid of those nasty Mexicans.  Stop immigration.  Limit the Population in the US to 90,000,000 genetically superior humans.  Then stop having children in order to SAVE THE ENVIROMENT.

PLANNED PARENTHOOD
Malkin links to  Dawn Patrol.  I have no idea what the point behind all of this is, except that evidently the author doesn’t approve of Planned Parenthood.  I must be getting liberal in my senility because I really don’t see anything wrong with these Planned Parenthood campaigns.  I think the idea that good “Christians” can go to the Third World and preach chastity and abstinence is, in the words of Church Lady, “Special”.  It is also absurdly stupid.  I don’t see anything wrong with promoting birth control, condoms, and family planning – anywhere.  I would prefer abstinence, but I am bright enough to know that it ain’t gonna work.  It never has and it never will.  If we can’t get “Christians” to practice abstinence outside of marriage how on earth are we going to sell the message to a world where people are just doing what comes natural.

If Planned Parenthood would do other than abortion, I would be behind them, trust me. As it is we live in a world where there is tremendous over-population in areas to the point where people are dying, starving, and killing one another.  Women are sold as slaves.  They are raped, murdered, infected with AIDS, and treated as sub-human.  The way to start raising the status of women in the world is to limit their children and teach them they DO NOT NEED TO HAVE CHILDREN.  Give them an opportunity to use their minds, to go to school, to be educated, and go beyond barefoot, starving, and pregnant.  Frankly, I can’t see anything all that Christian about keeping women in that position.

Now, back to my John Tanton rant.  I absolutely adore the way our special little anti-immigration conservatives have found a way to dis-associate themselves from John Tanton and his Planned Parenthood agenda as long as they can embrace his anti-immigration nativist and very special little Social Contract friends.

Ain’t it beautiful?  Now I understand Dawn Patrol.  Check out just one of the links and you will understand why we cannot allow self-righteous “Christian” conservatives to get away with one more thing.  They’ve stolen the GOP.  They’re proving they aren’t very “Christian” by the way they are treating illegal migrants who only want a better way in the world.  Maybe they should to back and read The Sermon on the Mount.  (Don’t get me started!)

If you read the below, you will understand that in order to be a woman of virtue you aren’t to go to college.  You can take correspondence courses.  You aren’t to move out of your home or you may have sex outside of marriage.  You should dress modestly (read burka).  You should learn to be a good little house-wife and have lots of blessed children and submit to your husband. God forbid you want to be an astronaut, President, Senator, member of Congress, fighter pilot, soldier, scientist, banker, real estate agent, stockbroker, or anything else that requires a woman leaving the home, using her head, and maybe asserting herself a little.  After all, God crated man first, therefore we must submit.

It’s all just too much for this Episcopalian to handle.  I’ve always lived in a man’s world. I’ve also never found it compromised my “Christian” virtue one little bit.  Perhaps I’m just not that good a Christian and have never learned the world “Submissive”.  It doesn’t exist in my lexicon.

A DAWN PATROL LINK
I’m only including these because they frost my cookies.  We live in a modern world.  Women can be anything from astronauts to (maybe) President of the United States.  Why on earth do “Conservatives” think that in order for women to be “chaste” and feminine they must be submissive, abused, and good little home-makers.  The only thing I can think of is these men are completely fearful of strong women who use their  heads for things other than baking cookies.  To tie all of this BS into “Christian” women is another absolutely insulting and disgusting lie.  The Good Lord created us EQUAL.  He gave minds and brains to men and women alike.  He gave us the ability to think, grow, reason, and create (more than babies).  I truly pity women who fall for this gobbildy gook.  They are setting themselves up for emotional if not physical abuse and even death.  This is teaching women to be submissive and accept ANYTHING their husband would do them as the Will of God. Let’s put it this way, girls, just haul out the burkas the “Christians” have arrived.  Try  Ladies Against Feminist! This is one of the most disgusting sites I’ve seen.  It is literally promoting the “talibaning” of women in this country!  Bringing Christ back to Childbirth – (I always thought putting “Christ” in childbirth had everything to do with prayers for the mother and child for a safe delivery, and a healthy baby, but evidently there is much more too it.  As I have no children and never plan to have any, I’ll never know – PRAISE THE LORD!)

Can I use some colorful metaphors now.  I can’t imagine anything so STUPID.
“…It makes me angry that women are sold lies that say we should be equal to men.  Our Creator had such wonderful and specific purpose for making us feminine.  If we want a definition of feminine, we should look to the Bible--to the woman rising early to labor for her family or to the woman who had the privilege putting oil on Jesus’ feet….”
What the H-H-DOUBLE TOOTHPICK is going on here?  This is putting woman back 250 years.  Somehow this just isn’t my version of CHRISTIAN VIRTUE it is my version of HELL ON EARTH!

Oh, and for Christian Singles – we need to be dedicated daughters improving our domestic skills at home. I sure blew it there.  Someone needs to tell this poor woman we live in the 21st Century and the 1100’s.  Women today can be ANYTHING they wish.  To promote this BS is the worst example of “Christian” I’ve ever seen.
“…I just think we all should remember that only several generations ago, it was unheard of for a young woman to 'move out and do her own thing'; daughters, no matter how old, normally remained under the authority and protection of their fathers, finding a variety of useful and productive pursuits to keep them busy and happy at home. They trained in the arts of homemaking and perfected them, until they met a man who was suitable for marriage – and until then, they were a blessing to their families, siblings and communities in countless ways.

Basically, in her unmarried years, a daughter should seek training in the areas which will be important to her as a future wife and mother. I don't mean only practical homemaking skills; what's even more important are the character traits she will need as a virtuous wife, as opposing to the character traits our culture says she needs: gentleness and submissiveness versus rebellion, generosity and selflessness versus selfish self-fulfillment at all costs, mature acceptance of authority versus seeking doing your own thing in whatever possible way.

The list of creative, interesting and useful occupations a young lady can pursue from home is endless, and in the following posts we will try to explore them. From autodidactic learning to canning fruits and vegetables, I promise you: once you have your vision clear, you won't have lack of things to do! But it does require a vision. I know twenty-something women who don't know how to boil an egg or operate the washing machine; who haphazardly clean once in a while and are bored to death at home. Why does this happen? Lack of example, learning and vision. I know – I used to be one of them.

Most young women go to college right after high school and enter a cycle of unorganized, self-indulgent campus life. This is especially prominent when a young lady attends college away from home (more on that in the next post), especially a secular college with a high dose of immorality. Think about it: those crucial years after the young woman first crosses the border to adulthood, when she first starts seriously contemplating marriage and is supposed to be preparing for it, are spent in an environment that supports it less than anything you could think of. I just don't see the logic in sending a young girl away to a corruptive environment for a few years and expecting her vision of marriage and motherhood to remain untainted.

Pushing single women towards the path of college and career resulted in disastrous consequences for our society. In the past, while an adult daughter had many responsibilities, she still typically had more free time than married women who had their own husbands and children to care for. Unmarried women had the gift of time to be there for the needy – the sick, the lonely, the mourners; they had the time and energy to visit and comfort, to give help and encouragement. Just think about the possibilities, and how much we're currently missing out on. Think about the stress, rush, frustration, anxiety and disappointment that slowly crept over our lives since women in general, and adult unmarried daughters in particular, were pushed out of their homes.
…”

I would love for the author to meet my niece Rachel who, after working in some of the worst slums of the world, picking worms out of the heads of starving children and helping women who were infected by AIDS, she ended up on the border between Kenya and Somilia documenting war crimes.  Oh, I forgot, women are to stay home and be happy home-makers.  My 21 year old niece was able to document what Al Qaeda was doing in Somilia and in the Congo.  She was able to make a difference in the lives of people who needed help.  You can't do this if you are a good, submissive "Christian" daughter.  FYI - Rachel is Catholic.

The Merry Future Home-maker:
What a recipe for abuse!
“…Will we have learned to be happily content in doing the everyday things in life—caring for the sick, changing diapers, washing dishes, doing another load of never-ending laundry, reading the same book to a child for the 100th time—for the glory of the Lord and rejoicing in serving Him? Would the lifestyle away from home encourage and build a heart attitude of serving others, working together as a family, making memories to last a life-time? Or are you missing Johnny’s first step, Rachel reading her first book, watching Rebecca mature into a lovely young woman, family vacations or day trips, etc. because you had to study or go to work? Is that life as free as we thought—free from “care,” free to do things with our family, free to minister to others, free to travel? Is it encouraging a life of serving others or ourselves, equipping us with tools for a life as keepers-at-home, giving us contentment under our father’s authority and covering? One never stops learning. From the time we are born to the day we pass on to the next life, we are always learning. Knowledge is something that the body craves and thirsts after.

What are some alternatives to further our education? One way might be correspondence courses. There are many Christian colleges that offer this kind of study method. On the whole, there is flexibility in the time we can study, we are safer from culturing an independent spirit, we are learning how to manage our time, to be others-centered rather than self-centered, finding contentment in home life, and, most importantly, we are remaining under our father’s protective covering….”

THANKFUL FOR MY HERITAGE
After reading this do-do, I truly Thank God I came from a family where tradition had literally demanded women be as good as men, as well educated as men, and treated equally.  The tradition in my family started back with William Marshall who had only daughters and decreed they be educated as men and treated equal to men.  It continued through Sarah Johnson who, in 1691 became one of the first abolitionists in the New World and demanded women have a say in the affairs of their community.  My grandmother Reidhead, her mother, and her sisters continued the tradition as they marched for rights for women and were some of the very first women to vote in the state of Minnesota.   On my mother's side we were taught that if a woman could be the Queen of England then there were no limits on any other women.  And - I came from a devoutly Christian family.  We still are, only we believe that to follow Christ does not require woman to be sub-human and subject to the whims of the men in their families.
