BARRY BONDS (finally) INDICTED

Okay, I'm happy.  Need I say more?  You know I am.  Now, all I want is for Bonds to be stripped of his record, banned from Baseball for life, and have every one his records expunged. I don't want much.  I probably won't get all of my demands, but I remain hopeful that a few of my demands will be met.  I want Hank Aaron restored as the rightful Home Run King.

I think the whole steroid issue is far more damaging than anything Shoeless Joe Jackson ever did.  While gambling eats at 'the integrity of the game' I think steroids are far more insidious. Gambling is one thing, but doing something that makes you a danger to young people who want to mimic you, then I think it is far worse.  Gambling on your team is disgusting, but endangering the life of a young person is far worse.   I just hope the powers that be in MLB remember that very fact.

Smoking Gun has a copy of the Indictment
"...According to the five-count indictment, Bonds lied to a federal grand jury in December 2003 when asked about his use of steroids. During that appearance, Bonds, 43, repeatedly denied that his trainer, Greg Anderson, provided him with performance-enhancing drugs like human growth hormone and the illegal products distributed by the notorious Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative. Under oath, Bonds clamed that one cream proferred by Anderson was flaxseed oil. "And I was at the ballpark, whatever, I don't care. What's lotion going to do to me? How many times have I heard that: 'This is going to rub into you and work.'" Federal prosecutors apparently will seek to prove that the purported flaxseed oil was, in fact, one of BALCO's illegal salves, which were known as "the clear" and "the cream." That charge, the indictment indicates, will apparently be buttressed by results showing that Bonds has tested positive for steroids: "During the criminal investigation, evidence was obtained including positive tests for the presence of anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing substances for Bonds and other athletes." Bonds's initial court appearance is scheduled for December 7. If convicted of the felony charges, he faces up to five years in prison on each of four perjury counts and 10 years in the can on the obstruction rap. ..."
