The Pink Flamingo :: When Did Espionage Become an Immigration Issue?

I’ve been watching the Nada Nadim Prouty story for several days now. As is my new policy, I decided not to comment on something that everyone else would be posting about. BUT – after reading Wizbang today, I have a question: When did an obvious planned espionage become “anti-immigration”? Yes, Prouty is here illegally, but my gosh it quite obvious this woman came here On A Mission From Allah! Is anyone even addressing the fact that she has been here since 1989 on an obvious mission of espionage and fraud – and this was a “long term plan”?

Let’s be honest here, to even equate her presence here with illegal immigration is not only irresponsible, but it is just plain old STUPID. Wizbang’s headline is “Foreign Waitress Scams FBI, CIA, INS”. This isn’t a scam. This is serious spy game stuff. The woman was in Iraq interrogating prisoners. Who knows what damage she did there. It is quite obvious she had worked her-self up into an excellent position. This isn’t a simple case of a migrant crossing the Rio Grande for work.

“…In August 2000, Prouty's sister, Elfat El Aouar, entered into a marriage with Talal Khalil Chahine, the owner of La Shish Inc. In September 2000, Prouty, while employed as an FBI special agent, used the FBI's computerized Automated Case System (ACS), without authorization, to query her own name, her sister's name, and that of her brother-in-law, Talal Khalil Chahine. In addition, on or about June 4, 2003, Prouty accessed the FBI's ACS and obtained information from a national security investigation into Hizballah that was being conducted by the FBI's Detroit Field Office. According to court documents, in August 2002, Prouty's sister, Elfat El Aouar, and her brother-in-law, Talal Khalil Chahine, attended a fundraising event in Lebanon where the keynote speakers were Chahine himself and Sheikh Muhammad Hussein Fadlallah. Sheikh Fadlallah had previously been designated by the U.S. government as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist based upon his status as a leading ideological figure with Hizballah. In June 2003, through a series of false representations and use of her fraudulently procured proof of U.S. citizenship, Prouty, then known as "Nada Nadim Prouty," voluntarily left her position with the FBI and obtained employment with the CIA. It was also a prerequisite to CIA employment that she be a U.S. citizen….”

MALKIN’S ANTI IMMIGRATION SPEW
Malkin naturally takes the low road on this. Instead of commenting on this serious breach of security, and the absolutely breathtakingly long-term planning for this scam, she is harping on immigration. This has no more to do with immigration than Walmart has to do with high quality merchandise.

“…The Bush administration’s cavalier attitude toward illegal aliens in its employ should be no surprise, of course. The Pentagon has allowed known illegal alien fraudsters to remain in the military as a matter of policy. And remember the illegal alien working in the White House who got his picture taken with the Cheneys?...”

Malkin goes on to pat herself on the back for the usual dribble that anti-immigration wonks use, equating the migrant worker crossing the Rio Grande for a better life with “terror”. I’m getting sick and tired of this old, absolutely useless piece of blather.

“…[I]f his own guardians can’t keep low-level, illegal border-crossing impostors out of the White House backyard, how in the world can we count on his administration to keep far more sophisticated, illegal alien evildoers…out of ours?...”

She quotes another hysterical anti-immigration partner, Michael Cutler from the CounterTerrorism Blog with this disingenuous spew designed to promote hysteria among the usual Group Think sources.

“…What we need to know is what is being done to create a system that possesses true integrity where the granting of immigration benefits is concerned. In point of fact, little is done to ferret out the fraud in the immigration benefits program. This must change. Immigration is not simply about building a fence on the border or even going after employers who knowingly employ easy to exploit illegal aliens. For immigration enforcement to be truly effective our government must also create an immigration benefits program that possesses meaningful integrity that identifies those who commit fraud to deter future such criminal violations. This would require that ICE employ many thousands of additional special agents who conduct effective proactive investigations into immigration benefit fraud. To ignore this critical component of immigration is to leave the door open to this sort of situation.”

There is a difference between illegal immigration and espionage. To denigrate this story to one of illegal immigration is not only stupid, it is short-sighted and somehow manages to down grade the threat Islamic Terror plays. At least Little Green Footballs casts her as a Hizballah Mole.
This is SERIOUS espionage. This is long term planning. This is absolutely terrifying and should cause us to re-examine everyone who has Islamic ties (even though Debbie Schussel does point out she is not a Muslim) and is part of critical intelligence gathering.

And as Allah Pundit points out, it is a show peace about how absolutely antiquated and outdated the computer systems the government uses actually are. We all know I usually don’t agree with Allah Pundit, but this time this commentary is right on the mark.

Prouty illegally accessed the FBI system twice: once in 2003, a year after her sister and brother-in-law attended a fundraiser led by Hezbollah officials in Lebanon that triggered the feds’ suspicions — and once in 2000. The goal of the 2000 intrusion was to check the feds’ files on three people: her brother-in-law, her sister, and herself. Why was she so eager to know what the feds knew about her fully two years before her brother-in-law caught their attention? Well, probably because she was a spy from the beginning and knew what her in-laws were up to. Indeed, although she hasn’t been charged yet with passing information to anyone, Richard Clarke hears that the FBI and CIA are pursuing that angle as we speak. Isikoff and Hosenball are hearing the same thing and helpfully fill in a few of the remaining blanks, such as when the FBI finally put two and two together about her and Hezbollah — 2005, two years after her second tapping of their computers — and how she ended up getting a security clearance in 1999 when she’d been here less than a decade. The answer? The Bureau’s thirst for Arabic speakers….”

MY MINI RANT
This is a wake-up call if ever there once was one. Because the over the top, illogical, xenophobic anti-Hispanic anti-immigration atmosphere that permeates certain Group Think areas of the media and blog world we are ignoring the very big picture. Hot Air’s commentary on Lindsey’s primary challenger, blaming the Prouty incident on Lindsey’s immigration policy is a perfect example of the fodder that prevents us from examining this story the way we should.

This is a failure of the House and Senate – not on immigration – but a failure not to update our equipment. Spitzer’s NY proposal for driver’s licensees for illegal aliens is an excellent idea. It is a great idea, not because it is helping the poor illegal immigrant but it could be the perfect tool in helping us keep track of who is here. The whole program should be national, with everyone who has a driver’s license being required to submit fingerprints.

The failure – we are so stupidly short-sighted in this country when it comes to updating our infrastructure that we don’t have the computer system to handle what should be a somewhat simple program to put into effect, but because we are woefully living in the age of stone knives and bear-skins, we can’t do it.

Also, the anti-immigration conservative freaks are incapable of dealing with anything that might provide a workable solution to any number of problems. If we had such a system in place, the simple finger-printing everyone with a driver’s license, everyone who comes into this country LEGALLY, Prouty would have been caught years ago.

LOGIC, SIMPLE WORKABLE LOGIC

The problem is, when it comes to immigration, Conservative Group Think cannot allow simple workable logic. It would solve the problem then it would no longer be a political issue. If it is no longer a political issue then immigration cannot be used as a method for population control.

It is also a wake-up call. How many more Nada Nadim Proutys are out there? I have a feeling if we find them, they aren’t going to be “Illegal”. If they are, it will have been through skillful manipulation and good old fashioned James Bond spying.

Espionage is not Immigration. It is about WAR and the destruction of the US as a free society. The poor little migrant crossing the Rio Grande for a better life is not part of this problem. To make it so disparately harms our ability to win this war. We are fighting a War for Civilization. The first step in winning a war is KNOW YOUR ENEMY. The Hispanic migrant illegal is not THE ENEMY. Islamic Terror is. To even equate the two of them is – well, it’s almost criminal. It is also extremely counter-productive. Instead of Michelle Malkin blaming Lindsey Graham for this, she should be working with him to modernize our infrastructure. So should all our anti-immigration conservatives. But – that’s not the real agenda.

Heavens knows we must protect THE AGENDA at all costs.

The real problem is hatred. There is so much hatred on the part of the conservative anti-immigration crowd, they cannot see the real story. They are so involved in their cause they have forgotten that there is a big picture. Hispanics from Mexico are not the enemy. Islamic Terror is.
