This list cracked me up... even though I am one who does not use Mr. Linky. I tried installing it this past summer and my blog got so screwed up it took me until the early morning to get things straightened out.

As for my TT pet peeves, I have two main ones. I hate when people leave generic comments like "Interesting list. Happy TT." It makes me think that they didn't even bother reading my TT and are just trying to get their link out there.

Another thing that bugs me is when I do a list such as "13 of My Favorite Stand Up Comics" and people will leave comments along the lines of "You forgot (fill in the blank)" or "How could you leave (fill in the blank) off the list?" To cut down on those types of comments, I started adding a disclaimer giving the reasons why someone/something probably didn't make the list:

1. There are only 13 slots available
2. I'm not familiar with (fill in the blank) so therefore I don't have an opinion
3. I am not a fan of (fill in the blank)

I have never written about potty training on my blog. My kids will be adults some day and I don't want to embarrass them in the future.

Sometimes it is good to be a snark. I am new at this and I hope I am doing it right. I always add the links and try to get to everyone who comments, but like you say, sometimes it is impossible to post a comment unless you have the same blog. I don't seem to be getting any link credit through technorati when people use mr. linky...is it me? Thanks for the info!

Wow, hi Pink Flamingo...that was quite the list! I was howling through a fair bit of it...some great advice too.

I have had a couple times when I wasn't able to get around to blogs...for the most part though, if someone comments...I go to their blog, and I link their blog.

I enjoy funny stories about the participant...I love pictures too. I like weird bits of info that means something like a hobby or interest of the participant.

Um...I used to have Mister Linky's but when I updated my blog it got erased...and then I didn't update my blog, I had a friend help me...and I don't know how to load Mister Linky back in by my self...so I just type the html in a link format as each person comments.

Really enjoyed this list...you're a dark comedic mood today...

I really try to reciprocate, so it does bother me when I visit a whole lot more sites than visit mine. You would've hated mine last week though...it was positions I've caught my daughter sleeping in...cute and funny ones. Oh well.

Can I just say that I LOVED this list? And you can see that it's really been therapeutic for a lot of 13ers....

I agree with you about the cats---there's no such thing as a boring blog about cats.

I wish typepad would let me install Mr. Linkys without messing everything up. We try to give the link love by listing our commenters.

I agree about the writers---I like reading about what people are writing, but if that's all they write about then you never get to know anything else about them.

I always respond to comments on my blog, and I also follow up with a visit and a comment. I think it's completely discourteous not to. One of my pet peeves is lack of content. I want to know that you've put some thought into it, and I want to come away feeling like I now know something about you that I didn't know before. Oh, and you're not a pariah in my book!

I love funny, informative TT's but I also love the personal ones. Anyone who comments on mine can expect a visit and a comment on either TT or something else. :D

Even if you sign Mr. Linky, it's not the same as leaving a comment.

As for why my TTs are about my books, it's simple: they are more interesting than lists about my kids. If you don't like it, don't sign my Linky and run. I try my best to return every visit with a thoughtful reply, so please don't eat up my time. There are other TTers out there who you clearly would rather be visiting.

I always reciprocate comments...and I always visit all the people who comment above me on the T13 site. Then I look at the people who've commented after me and if their T13 looks interesting, I'll stop by. I love people who say what their list is about that week! I've noticed, tho, that there is one person in particular who NEVER comments on my T13, and I comment on his weekly. Hmmm...he's commented here, too, I see. Interesting!

You're dead on with many of these. I enjoy the range of personalities and interests that people share. It's good to get a mix. With this and WW and Weekend Snapshot, it's a fun treat to receive a comment later in the week in response. Seems to me the point is to connect and communicate, and if it's a different day maybe that's even better.

I have to admit that I've gotten a bit lackadaisical about my TT commenting rounds the last few weeks because of the lack of reciprocation. For a while I was visiting 100-200 TTs and I'd only have about 20 comments on my own.

Plus, I get the feeling that no one is on the receiving end of the contact form at the TT site. I've applied for the blogroll 3 times and sent several contact messages and got no answer.

So, I'm suffering TT Depression.

I work very hard on my TTs and I like reading other people's TTs, but like you, I could care less about reading lists of why people love their husband or how they potty trained their child and I really am frustrated by the few that require registration -- I already have enough passwords to remember and I don't like anyone's blog enough to register to comment.

I will say this. I only leave comments on those TTs that I truly enjoyed because I know how disappointing "Great list! Happy TT!" is.

I've taken to deleting anyone who adds themself to my TT list who doesn't have a TT but has listed themselves on TT itself. Someone who randomly wandered in and didn't know what it was about I'll let off as it's an easy mistake.

My biggest pet peeve about TT though is the decline of real links. Mr Linky is handy but in the months since I started TTing you get fewer and fewer who go to the trouble of putting up real old fashioned html links.

Amen to 4, 5 & 9! I've started to keep a running list of those offenders and I'm not even clicking on them! Some sites make my computer go crazy so I can't go to them. My computer freezes. Happy TT to you...

I'm a new TTer, but I love to comment on others' posts. I think this is my favorite blog day. :) Some people are so creative!

You know and yesterday I was clicking through some of the people who'd posted to the TT page and there are people who post that their's is up and there is no TT to be found at all. I don't get it. I wish there was a place to report links.

This is a great list! I agree with you on a lot of those. I always pay return visits to all my commenters, even if I'm very late like now.
