RONALD REAGAN’S UFO’S!

"We were very social at the that time. We loved to go to parties and have people in...One night we went to Bill Holden's for dinner, and it was fun at first, but we couldn't eat until two of the other guests arrived, and they were almost an hour late. The tardy two were Ron and Nancy Reagan. Desi had time for a few extra cocktails, and was sailing by the time the Reagans arrived. They were all out of breath and so excited and said they couldn't help being late because of what happened. Are you ready? They saw a UFO and stopped to watch it. After he was elected president, I kept wondering if he'd have still won if he told everybody he'd seen a flying saucer." Lucille Ball "Lucy in the Afternoon" page 122-123

A QUICK MINI RANT
These past few weeks we’ve been treated to a number of conservatives who are just plain old hilarious about Dennis Kucinich and his UFO.  Check the posting from Hot Air, Ace of SpadesNeoconNews, then Glenn Beck.    I wouldn’t even comment on this, except for the fact that once upon a time Ronald Reagan spoke about at least two UFO encounters.  I think it all just proves my theory that anything liberal = bad and anything conservative = good.  Naturally the usual suspects are going to completely ignore the Ronald Reagan UFO.  Heaven forbid their conservative “god” would have the same experience that Dennis Kucinich or Jimmy Carter once had. It’s all rather interesting and is getting to be very predictable.

To me it all goes back to the fact that today’s extreme conservatives who worship at the altar of Ronald Reagan don’t even know what the great man was all about. Heck, half of ‘em weren’t even old enough to have truly experienced the Reagan years.  But that doesn’t matter.  They take the do-do spoon fed to them by Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, and associates, who have taken Reagan’s message and almost perverted it to the point where it is unrecognizable.  Same thing holds true for the “Christian” conservatives like Richard Viguerie and his values voter friends who are trying to crucify the Giuliani campaign.  If you go back and start reading what they were all about when Ronald Reagan was President, you will discover they treated him as badly as they treat George W. Bush and are treating Rudy Giuliani.

Things never change, do they?  The only thing that actually happens is conservatives become more and more extreme and then dishonor the memory of people like Reagan by distorting who they were, then lie about how much they supported him.

Ronald Reagan on UFO’s
White House transcript of "Remarks of the President to Fallston High School Students and Faculty," December 4, 1985.
"... when you stop to think that we're all God's children, wherever we may live in the world, I couldn't help but say to him, just think how easy his task and mine might be in these meetings that we held if suddenly there was a threat to this world from some other species from another planet outside in the universe. We'd forget all the little local differences that we have between our countries and we would find out once and for all that we really are all human beings here on this earth together."

Speech to the United Nations General Assembly, Forty-second session, "Provisional Verbatim Record of the Fourth Meeting", September 21, 1987.)
"In our obsession with antagonisms of the moment, we often forget how much unites all the members of humanity. Perhaps we need some outside, universal threat to make us recognize this common bond. I occasionally think how quickly our differences worldwide would vanish if we were facing an alien threat from outside this world."
From a speech with President Mikhail Gorbachev, in 1988. He made almost the same comment on many occasions.
"I occasionally think how quickly our differences, worldwide, would vanish if we were facing an alien threat from outside this world."
"I was in a plane last week when I looked out the window and saw this white light. It was zigzagging around.  I went up to the pilot and said, "Have you ever seen anything like that?" He was shocked and he said, "Nope." And I said to him: "Let's follow it!" We followed it for several minutes. It was a bright white light. We followed it to Bakersfield, and all of a sudden to our utter amazement it went straight up into the heavens.  When I got off the plane I told Nancy all about it. But we didn't file a report on the object because for a long time they considered you a nut if you saw a UFO..."

Reagan had more than one close encounter.
“…There might be a deeper reason for Reagan's apparent interest in the idea of an alien threat.  There is an unconfirmed story that before he became Governor of California, Ron and Nancy had a UFO sighting on a highway near Hollywood.  The story was broadcast last February on Steve Allen's radio show over WNEW-AM in New York.  The comedian and host commented that a very well known personality in the entertainment industry had confided to him that many years ago, Ron and Nancy were expected to a casual dinner with friends in Hollywood.  Except for the Reagans, all the guests had arrived.  Ron and Nancy showed up quite upset half an hour later, saying that they had just seen a UFO coming down the coast.  No further details were released by Steve Allen…”

A QUICK MINI RANT

This leads to the whole “SDI” Strategic Defense Initiative or “Star Wars” program that Reagan patronized, often being ridiculed because liberals felt the whole system, which we now know does work (re the missile defense systems).  Reagan fought tooth and nail for this program.  Then I find a quote from an author (granted, he claims to have been abducted by aliens, so….) that I find interesting.  It had to do with Dr. Teller, military spending, and Reagan’s patronage of advanced military systems.  All of this confirms something I was once told by someone very highly placed Senate aide who was dealing with some highly ‘classified’ DOD systems.  I find it even more interesting now considering a fascinating letter I once had from one of the editors of the now defunct, but incredible OMNI Magazine.  They were getting ready to do a mega issue on ‘real’ UFO’s and wanted me to coordinate and edit the “Washington” angle about UFO’s because of my contacts within this person.  I was fortunate enough to attend quite a few absolutely fascinating events where Dr. Teller was a featured speaker.
From Farshores
“…There is an interesting report, once classified as top secret, from Physicist Edward Teller, then involved in the U.S. thermonuclear weapons program and the Strategic Defense Initiative. Teller's memo urged President Reagan to support the development of "advanced technologies for defense against possible invasion" by aliens from other worlds.

In the report, Teller wrote: "As you must be aware, the Defense Department has initiated several space defense programs of vast proportions and at great expense. But there is a new and alarming development of which I am compelled to inform you of. A menace greater than the nuclear arms race exists. It does not originate here on earth but comes from space itself. The agent of mass destruction has no reasoning psychology other than the ultimate destruction of our civilization and our way of life as we know it."

Teller did not elaborate about this threat, but his memo suggests that the Russian government also was well aware of it, and was also spending money developing a defense program against possible invasion from other worlds. It suggests that the awareness by both super powers of a common enemy from space might have been the reason for the sudden end to the Cold War during the Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbechov era….”

NOTE:  Now about the time I do a copy and paste working on this, I scroll down to the end of the page where the author then blows all of it by discussing mutant interbreeding with humans, etc.  I hear a noise outside.  Rumsfeld starts barking, and I do one of those horror film jumps!

This YouTube Reagan clip shows how optimistic and idealistic he really was.
And a similar thought here.
“…What made Reagan's angle so compelling were his repeated allusions, as if he were speaking in code to the gatekeepers of classified operations. Because, like a lot of people who've seen these things, Reagan caught the bug, too.

Reagan's sighting occurred in 1974, when he was flying aboard a Cessna Citation as governor of California. He told the story to a Wall Street Journal reporter, and his pilot, Bull Paynter, provided additional details. What started out as a white light over Bakersfield, maybe several hundred yards away from the plane, began to "elongate" as it accelerated away at a 45-degree angle, around 10 p.m. "The UFO went from a normal cruise speed to a fantastic speed" Paynter said, "instantly"

The incident obviously stayed with him, because Reagan went on to employ extraterrestrials to his advantage during key moments of his presidency.

At the Geneva Summit in 1985, he told Soviet foreign minister Eduard Shevardnadze that if we ever discovered ETs were planning to attack, both nations would form a quick alliance. Shevardnadze agreed, and apparently for good reason.

As ABC's "Prime Time Live" related in 1995, for several hours on Oct. 4, 1982, residents of Byleokoroviche, Ukraine, reported seeing a 900-foot disc navigating the skies, then hovering over a nuclear missile silo with armed warheads.

To his horror, Lt. Col. Vladimir Plantanov watched as flashing control boards indicated the ICBMs were preparing to fire against the United States. A Soviet investigation confirmed that for 15 seconds, the base had lost control of its nukes.

"I couldn't help but say to (Soviet premier Mikhail Gorbachev)" Reagan recalled later in 1985, to a high school class, "just how easy his task and mine might be if suddenly there was a threat to this world from some other species from another planet"…”

Ronald Reagan was worried about an alien invasion?
“…I couldn’t help but - when you stop to think that we’re all God’s children, wherever we live in the world, I couldn’t help but say to him (Gorbachev) just how easy his task and mine might be if suddenly there was a threat to this world from some other species from another planet outside in the universe. We’d forget all the little local differences that we have between our countries and we would find out once and for all that we really are all human beings here on this Earth together. Well I guess we can wait for some alien race to come down and threaten us, but I think that between us we can bring about that realization. [4]…” Link does not work
