PRIMARIES 2008
I think this debate was a big let-down if you want to know the truth. I like it better when the GOP candidates are up against an antagonistic group of questions. You aren't going to see me do any "live-blogging" which seems to me to be more a question of ego satisfaction than actually accomplishing anything. Face it, what are you going to do, listen to the debates or read the live blog feed? No brainer. I think Ron Paul was shameful. Giuliani looked Presidential as did John McCain. Romney looked even more plastic than usual.
A MINI RANT
I don’t think there are few things in this world that annoy me more than the “undecided voter”. Of all the STUPID people in the world, the undecided voter is the stupidest (I know, it isn’t a word). I was listening to some of those whining little twits on FOX before the debate (which I think is a dud). What the heck do these people want, to see Ronald Reagan rise from the grave, walk on water, split the atom, and whistle the Battle Hymn of the Republic? All I hear are belly-aching conservatives who are acting like spoiled little brats because they aren’t getting their nasty little way. I’m so sick of the candidates pandering to these little snots by arguing about who is the most conservative
I could barf.
There are other people in the GOP besides conservatives!
Back to the undecided voter – frankly, I think they ought to be disenfranchised or something equally as obnoxious – as obnoxious as they are. They think they are smart and sophisticated. Then, did you here those apri debate intellectual giants pontificating about what they wanted to see. Lord have mercy and give me a break! Idiots – abject idiots.
JOHN MCCAIN
Outside the Beltway
Seems to be getting his 3rd wind. He’s gonna need it. Now he’s taking out Romney. Wizbang
“…With these few words, McCain reopens the wound that is Romney's fatal weakness in seeking the nomination. Changing one's positions on life issues or moving "right" on other issues important to the Republican base can be easily forgiven, because we want to see people moving in our direction on these fronts. However, distancing oneself from Ronald Reagan makes conservatives think, "What the heck is wrong with this guy?"…”
BARACK OBAMA
Why is the guest list of that big London gig so secretive.
Darth Vadar’s cousin is no Ronald Reagan.
Obama’s bundlers.
RUDY GIULIANI
Competitive in Iowa
Giuliani V. Dobson, round 2 -
Rick Perry endorsement
On the really important things of life – baseball.
“…The well-known Yankees fan said he weighed in Thursday on Torre's departure "because I'm a big mouth and I have to insert myself into issues." Giuliani said it was "a very sad day" and praised Torre as a "class guy," joking that he would pick Torre as vice president if they both weren't from New York….”

The Politico on the FRC speech
Captain Ed has a very good and reasonable commentary about Giuliani and “Christian” conservatives.

TLB has more.
Flap on the Giuliani speech.
The speech.
Ahead in TX polls.
BILL RICHARDSON
Race 4 2008 has the latest Zogby on the “electability” factor. Only 34% say they would not vote for Richardson. This is a very much ignored poll. In other words, if he had the money, organization, and publicity, Bill Richardson would be the most dangerous candidate in the field – for the GOP.
Huckabee is right above him at 35%, and the terrifying factor is Obama at 37%. In other words, Bill Richardson is the most “likable” person in the whole race, which makes sense.
TOM TANCREDO
The Tancredo Watch says our favorite xenophobe will probably soon be quitting this quest for the Oval Office and running for re-election.
MITT ROMNEY
Once upon a time a BJU endorsement was the kiss of death. Is this a sign of how far right the GOP is going?

Serious problems with money
Eye on 08 picked up on a nuance of the Romney marriage.
As usual there are charges of Romney staking the VV straw pole.
Liz Mair on Romney’s purchase of yet another straw poll.
MIKE HUCKABEE
Did very well this weekend.
Race 4 2008 gives it to Huckabee.

The LA Times article
“…Dishwashers, waiters and others whose jobs and dilapidated home addresses seem to make them unpromising targets for political fundraisers are pouring $1,000 and $2,000 contributions into Clinton's campaign treasury. In April, a single fundraiser in an area long known for its gritty urban poverty yielded a whopping $380,000. When Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.) ran for president in 2004, he received $24,000 from Chinatown.
At this point in the presidential campaign cycle, Clinton has raised more money than any candidate in history. Those dishwashers, waiters and street stall hawkers are part of the reason. And Clinton's success in gathering money from Chinatown's least-affluent residents stems from a two-pronged strategy: mutually beneficial alliances with powerful groups, and appeals to the hopes and dreams of people now consigned to the margins.
Clinton has enlisted the aid of Chinese neighborhood associations, especially those representing recent immigrants from Fujian province. The organizations, at least one of which is a descendant of Chinatown criminal enterprises that engaged in gambling and human trafficking, exert enormous influence over immigrants. The associations help them with everything from protection against crime to obtaining green cards….
… The Times examined the cases of more than 150 donors who provided checks to Clinton after fundraising events geared to the Chinese community. One-third of those donors could not be found using property, telephone or business records. Most have not registered to vote, according to public records.
And several dozen were described in financial reports as holding jobs -- including dishwasher, server or chef -- that would normally make it difficult to donate amounts ranging from $500 to the legal maximum of $2,300 per election.
Of 74 residents of New York's Chinatown, Flushing, the Bronx or Brooklyn that The Times called or visited, only 24 could be reached for comment. Many said they gave to Clinton because they were instructed to do so by local association leaders. Some said they wanted help on immigration concerns. And several spoke of the pride they felt by being associated with a powerful figure such as Clinton….”

RON PAUL
His libertarian friends
The creepiest political ad ever
The interesting thing is Allahpundit finally “gets it” about Ron Paul.
“…The media’s starting to chatter about the peculiarities of some of the Bircheresque Crank’s more crankish, bircheresque supporters, but they’re always quick to qualify it by noting that Paul hasn’t sought their endorsement — which isn’t true, incidentally, in the case of Truthers, whom he’s deliberately wooed by appearing on Alex Jones’s radio show. But let’s grant that it’s true in the case of the three examples given above. Question: Why isn’t Paul being pressed by the media to denounce garbage like this the way Rudy Giuliani, say, surely would if he was the one acting as a troll magnet? If, for whatever reason, Giuliani had a strong following among Holocaust deniers, you’d better believe the press would be curious to know (a) why that is and (b) what Rudy planned to do to communicate to them that they should kindly bugger off. Have either of those screws been put to the Paulnut yet vis-a-vis Truthers, I wonder?...”

Is he really going over, or just going?
