THE GREAT CATFIGHT
Okay guys, read at your own risk. It’s time for some girly snarky cattyness. I am not apologizing for it. I feel like being a little catty right now. I have a specific reader who started all of this, and she knows who she is, and should congratulate her good taste with a nice extra dirty gin martini.
So, go change the cat litter, grab some Meow-Mix to munch on, and a saucer of milk.
Look, what else can you expect of me. I’m on gossip and catfight over-drive this week. What else can you expect when you’ve still not come down from the gossip high of your rector resigning after taking up with the town (cough – ummm “S” word) and head bar-tender of a well known theatrical establishment, and of questionable moral character - just 2 months after his divorce is final.
As a great actress once said, “Fasten your seatbelts, ladies, it’s going to be a bumpy ride!”
Meeeeoooooowwwwwww!
MICHELLE MALKIN
Okay, here’s the gossip. Mind you it is just juicy gossip, but I find it amazing that no “conservative” blog is even mentioning her ouster from FOX!
Fruitfly references Think Progress Comment #50!
“I’ve got a friend at FoxNews. Malkin was forced to resign because, in the words of my friend, she’s “batshit crazy.” She was skating on thin ice there anyway, and she knew it.
The over-the-top attack on the Frost family was the last straw for Fox management. Believe it or not, there are actually some people capable of sustained abstract thought in the upper-echelons there. As her shtick got crazier and crazier over the past 9 months or so management grew less and less comfortable with her. Even O’Reilly wanted her out.
She cried during the meeting where her “resignation” was accepted. Apparently she was largely successful keeping the weeping under wraps but at some point she broke into long, mournful sobs as she was being led out of the building by security. Very awkward.”

…”Waitaminnit — she’s not only out with Bill-O, but she’s out of Fox News altogether? Yet she said in her statement, “You can catch me on other Fox News shows…”Excessive spin on her part? We shall see if she really does show up on other Fox News shows or if Fox News has told her never to darken their door again. I never watch FN, but I’m sure there are plenty of blog sites to keep us informed….”
The Van Der Galien Gazette said she was not fired, but quit.
And Malkin’s version of the story.
JERI THOMPSON
Michelle Cottle has a Meeoooowwww profile of Jeri Thompson over at The New Republic, that only a woman could write. So, get out the c-nip and enjoy. Still, the article reinforces my original opinion of the Thompsons. She is the ambition behind the pair. I am not faulting her for it.
“…Even as she beats back the Lady Macbeth comparisons, Jeri is tackling the equally unflattering bimbo caricature. Since her May appearance before Virginia Republicans, she has undergone a low-key dowdying up. She has trimmed and darkened her bright blonde mane, and her wardrobe has grown more muted and less revealing. She still looks young, but no longer tarty--which should help in wooing all those conservative "values voters" contemplating Fred as their standard bearer….”
LYNN CHENEY
The Barack Obama bombshell.
“…In an interview on MSNBC Tuesday afternoon, Mrs. Cheney said that in the course of researching her husband's genealogy for her new book, "Blue Skies, No Fences," she discovered that the two public figures share an ancestor eight generations ago. "Think about this," Mrs. Cheney said. "This is such an amazing American story that one ancestor, a man that came to Maryland, could be responsible down the family line for lives that have taken such different and varied paths as Dick's and Barack Obama's." But is blood thicker than the partisan waters of Washington? Apparently not. Even though Obama is related to her husband, Mrs. Cheney said she is not supporting the Illinois Democrat's White House bid. Reacting to the news, Obama's campaign spokesman Bill Burton told CNN's Dana Bash with tongue in cheek, "Obviously, Dick Cheney is sort of the black sheep of the family."…”
JUDY GIULIANI
I heard a snip from Hannity’s interview with the next First Couple tonight. One thing that I noticed is that Judy Giuliani stresses over and over again – repeatedly, that she is not involved in politics and is just going along with hubby. We all know the Giuliani family is being harassed by the MSM, Left & Right like neither the Bush family nor the Clintons were – combined. Why?
Next thing: It appears to me like Judy Giuliani is going through undue scrutiny, far more than her other counterparts save Jeri Thompson. With Jeri Thompson it is more a cat-fight than anything else, but the way Judy Giuliani is being treated is different. She will be a completely different First Lady. She’s been through the wringer, single mother, dealt with money problems, and then landed Hizhonor. She is a professional woman with a viable career on her own.
Let’s face it, there’s no way Hillary Clinton can be described as having a viable career of her own. She’s spent her entire married career either propelling Bill into the spotlight or hanging on his coat-tails, depending on which story you believe. The bottom line here is she’s never had to do things on her own. Jeri Thompson went to Washington to bag her man, which she did, more power to her. But her entire career path was devoted to her Mrs. career options.
I have this feeling Judy Giuliani is the conservative woman’s worst nightmare. She is living proof you can have it all – family, career, and a powerful husband – and not scrape and bow to him as “lord and master” as good women of “Christian” virtue are required to do. I have this sneaky feeling this is one of the reasons “Christian” leaders like James Dobson and Lou Sheldon are so loath to even consider thinking about a Giuliani presidency. You get a First Lady like Judy Giuliani and all bets are off.
The dirty little secret in the GOP is the fact that women are to be neither seen nor heard. They are tolerated because someone needs to host the parties, round up the waiters, make sure the caterers get it right, and know how to properly cut the cake. It’s a thankless job, trust me, I’ve done it. You can be a good Republican Woman and raise money for charities, candidates, etc. But – unless you are prepared to pay the price for it, don’t step out of line if you don’t have political and candidate aspirations of your own.
I think this is one of the reasons “Christian” conservatives have a tendency to trash our elected GOP Congresswomen and Senators, unless they do the Libby Dole and Kay Bailey Hutchison thing and are the perfect Southern lady (not that there is anything wrong with that). They don’t know how to handle a Heather Wilson. Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe drive the ultra right batty because they don’t fit the mold.
Conservatives allow occasional Ann Coulter, Laura Ingraham, and Tammy Bruce to speak out, because they generate headlines and $$$$$$$$. We are in the process of watching Michelle Malkin crash and burn because of her own machinations that have nothing to do with Media Matters, or a Vast Left Wing Conspiracy. She has done it to herself. Coulter’s on a very slippery slope. Ingraham’s star is rising and I get the opinion that Bruce just doesn’t give a rip.
But aside from Phyllis Schlafly, who is a senile old bat, how many other prominent “conservative” or Republican woman can you name. The rules – they can’t be attached to a spouse. I’m talking about woman who have risen through the political ranks, are not an office-holder or a candidate, and are not riding their husband’s coat-tails?
SARAH PALIN
I truly hope Giuliani will take a woman as a running mate. Let’s face it, Sarah Palin is probably the best choice. Then again, she breaks the mold. All of this proves that Rudy Giuliani is not afraid of strong women in his life. He’s got my vote!
From The Political Insider
“…The Republican vice presidential picture is murkier than the race for number two on the Democratic side, simply because it is much less clear who the GOP presidential nominee will be. That said, a key factor for the GOP will be the fact that the Democratic presidential nominee is likely to be either black or a woman, and the GOP nominee a white male. Any Republican presidential nominee will feel some pressure to make a demographic pick.
Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison's interest is an open secret, and there has also been some chatter about Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. Also outside the "Lower 48" is Hawaii Gov. Linda Lingle, a popular moderate who would also be the first Jewish candidate on a GOP ticket. Connecticut Gov. M. Jody Rell could also be considered. None of the Senate's other GOP women are likely to get serious consideration -- Maine's Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe are too moderate, and North Carolina's Elizabeth Dole and Alaska's Lisa Murkowski both face political troubles of their own….”

So, pardon me if I don’t shed crocodile tears over Malkin’s fall from grace. She did it to herself. I do find fascinating the fact that very few of her conservative blogging colleagues have come to her defense or have expressed any sympathy for her current plight. Why? Is it the fact that she is a woman and has only been tolerated in the conservative world – or do they know she actually did over-step her authority. On the other hand, you will not see me mimicking her liberal ‘fans’ who constantly repeat the fact that she has achieved stardom due to her husband’s machinations. I think she’s a big girl and can take care of herself.
