Once upon a time in a sleepy little southern town called Seneca, two baby boys were born a few months apart. One was named Lindsey Graham. The other was named John Edwards. John Edwards is a Democrat who doesn’t support our troops. Well, John Edwards is mad at Lindsey Graham and thinks Lindsey should apologize. It is impossible to take the Dems in the House and Senate seriously when the talk about removing troops, de-funding, etc. considering their abject hatred of George W. Bush. They have put their hatred ahead of reason, logic, common sense, self-preservation as a nation. Start with Rich Lowery’s Townhall column and go from there. It doesn’t matter if we lose the war on terror. To them it doesn’t matter if we fall as a nation, as long as George W. Bush goes down in flames.
Hatred is a funny thing. It causes people to do things they might not normally do. If Bill Clinton were in office, fighting this war, they would be squarely behind him. He is not so they are not. When did it become vogue and acceptable to put the good of the nation ahead of personal vendetta? Hatred such of theirs leads to nothing good and only destruction of those who are doing the hating. It eats at the soul, sucking life, reason, kindness, and humanity as it goes. Hatred is a vampire. Hatred such as the Dems and liberals have for GWB, if unchecked, will suck the very life out of this nation.
Their complete contempt of the President as a person and his policy have seriously weakened this nation. They have degraded this nation in the eyes of our enemy. When do their actions cease to be ‘opposition’ and become treason? When do their actions cease to be oversight and through blind ambition and this hatred open the doors to genocide? If these people have their way, GWB will be destroyed and Iraq will be consumed with genocide. When are they held accountable for their actions?
If you want proof the Dems ‘just don’t get it’ read Peter Wehner’s RCP blog that is reprinted in the Opinion Journal today. I don’t know how we can treat their contempt for our military, the war, and GWB as anything less than total and complete dereliction of duty. They have sworn an oath to protect the Constitution of the US. Doesn’t look to me like they even give a damn. People get the government they deserve. In a land where the average person gets their news from the MSM and the average American woman voter falls at the altar of Oprah, maybe we are getting what we deserve. Let’s start with the little dust up on the border with US National Guards last week. Conservatives and anti-immigration and Hispanaphobics are making a huge stink about it, and thereby showing their abject ignorance. It is called The Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 . and anyone who is a student of the Lincoln County Cattle War or the Cochise County War knows exactly what it is. Enacted in 1878, the Posse Comitatus Act was expressly intended to prevent United States Marshals, on their own initiative, from calling on the Army for assistance in enforcing Federal law. The intention of using National Guard troops on our border falls into this category. Jim Pinkerton shows his abject ignorance of the law in this Newsday piece.
Let me try explaining this so that all you Hispanaphobics who think anyone who speaks Spanish, is Mexican, or has a peso in their pocket is the enemy of all that is holy. Once upon a time, in a far away land called New Mexico, very corrupt government officials called the Santa Fe Ring took the law into their own hands and started shooting, killing, and arresting honest and a few dishonest citizens of Lincoln County. After a gay English cattle baron named John Tunstall was gunned down by minions of the Santa Fe Ring, Billy the Kid took the law into his own hands. The whole sad state of affairs cumulated in the shoot out at Blazer’s Mill. After some very good men on both sides of the war were killed, Buffalo Soldiers from Fort Stanton were called in by the US Marshal and the Territorial Governor, Lew Wallace (who was writing Ben Hur at the time) to quell the situation. Once Congress discovered what was going on, the passed the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 to prevent this from occurring again.
Fast forward to 1882 in Cochise County, Arizona and back to our once upon a time fairy tale to a time when all the bad guys were either killed or run out of Lincoln County and were now living happily ever after in Cochise County, where they were stealing cows, horses, robbing stages, and conducting a war of terror on honest citizens who did not live in an area that offered protection against their depravations. The acting governor of Arizona begged Congress and the President to help him. But because of the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 the Deputy US Marshal in Cochise County, a ‘brave courageous and bold’ man named Wyatt Earp was forced to take matters into his own hands and go after the outlaws with the help of his younger brother Warren, Doc Holiday, Sherm MacMasters, Texas Jack Vermillion, Turkey Creek Johnson, Hair-Lip Charley Smith, and (I think) Luke Short. They began their ‘clean-up’ on March 18 (Wyatt’s birthday) in Tucson after another bad guy, Frank Stilwell fired a gun through the open window of a LA bound train where Wyatt’s older brother, Virgil, was sitting. Virgil had been seriously injured on December 28 by those same outlaws. On March 17 Morgan Earp had been murdered by Stilwell, Curly Bill Brocius, John Ringo, Ike Clanton, and a few others. In self defense, Wyatt fired a shotgun, point blank, at Stillwell, then informed a cowering Ike Clanton that (in the movie Tombstone) “Hell is coming and I am coming with it.”
These brave, courageous, and bold men proceeded to ‘clean up’ Cochise County, while the governor begged Washington to send help, but the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 prevented any sort of intervention. On Easter weekend, General Sherman and a large troop stopped in Tombstone in a movement much like the tank episode of MASH. They hung around for a few days and put the fear of Washington, not into the outlaws, but the corrupt county officials who were aiding the outlaws. By the time Wyatt Earp and his Vendetta Posse headed for New Mexico and then Colorado, where Bat Masterson and the governors of three states negotiated safe passage and kept the corrupt arm of the Cochise County Sheriff at bay, the deprivations of the outlaws in Cochise County were over, never to return. Once the terrorist cowboys were subdued the residents of Cochise County all lived happily ever after – that is until Chris Simcox and his smarmy band of minutemen invaded Cochise County and made it, according to my Cochise County sources, the laughing stock of the nation.
You see, dear reader, 90% of people who live in Cochise County today DO NOT support the racist actions of the anti-immigration anti-Hispanic bigots (with the exception of Glenn Spencer in Sierra Vista) who have invaded the county much like the Cowboys did in the 1880’s. The average person in Tombstone, Bisbee, or Sierra Vista is humiliated by Simcox and his band of merry minutemen. If you start asking questions, you will discover they no longer live in Cochise County.

Reports say the soldiers were at a post near Sasabe late Wednesday when the militants came across the border and attacked. Officials said the guardsmen retreated and no one was injured, and an investigation has been launched into the identities of those who later retreated to Mexico. Authorities report that corridor in the desert has been the busiest in the area for marijuana seizures lately, with 124,000 pounds taken just since last fall. The National Guard troops have been on the scene since last summer, helping Border Patrol agents by operating control rooms, performing maintenance and repairs, building vehicle barriers and spotting and reporting those who enter to U.S. illegally. But they aren't allowed to actively arrest illegals, or confront them. The group said it would hold a news conference today at 9 a.m. at the intersection of highways 86 and 286 in Three Points to talk about future plans. Volunteers from the group, who have served along the border at various times since 2002, already have helped in the apprehension of more than 10,000 people who illegally entered the United States <> , officials said. They also have begun volunteering their time and money to built sections of security fencing along the border, officials said. "We are not at all shocked by this incursion; our president and federal government have sent these lawbreakers a message of immunity if caught, and a helping hand to accomplish their criminal goals," the group said in a statement announcing plans. "Our nation is being overrun by the influx of illegal aliens as well as drug cartels that show no signs of fear in crossing our border and we call upon our federal government to do the job they were elected to do, and refrain from supporting the open border advocates."
The organization is a "citizen-led initiative" set up to watch the borders and report on illegal activities. He said studies show that the death toll from the crimes of illegal aliens within the United States has been estimated from 12-25 lives - per day. "It is an invasion. It is real. People are dying," he said. He said without a change in the politics in the United States, and a result that would crack down on the attacks, the two remaining alternatives will be "violence and slavery." "Our political system is in deep trouble for this to be happening. This isn't supposed to be happening. Only a disruption in our self-governance can allow this to happen," he said. Another group, The Minuteman Project, said that "gun-toting" members of the Mexican drug cartels and military crossregularly into the U.S., and some even have been trained by the U.S. military. Congressman Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., one of the leaders in the fight to protect the U.S. borders, has said the fact that drug-runners are known to be escorted by the Mexican army should be denounced by the president.About 6,000 National Guard troops were assigned to the southwest border states last summer to supplement the work of the Border Patrol. But their work is limited strictly to backing up the Border Patrol, which is why they were forced to retreat as armed militants advanced on them, officials said.
