SPRING TRAINING – 22 Days from Today!

I’ve been so busy doing things today I really don’t have a rant.  I’ve tried to stick to a bit of a theme today, but as usual, have not succeeded.  Let’s be honest about the anti-war sentiment from the Left, Right, and in-between.  Very little of it has anything to do with the war and everything to do with undermining President George W. Bush.  I think this country is in a very precarious condition when even people who should be honorable and stand with a decent man who is facing much un-needed criticism because he is doing what is right.  Why don’t they have the courage to do what is right?

The best snarky remark of the day can be found in the Opinion Journal’s Political Diary.

“"While Pelosi clocked a good 25-30 blinks per minute, Cheney barely mustered 3 or 4. If energy conservation is a personal virtue -- as he once said so dismissively -- Cheney is a saint. The man functions admirably on standby power. The only thing that seemed to get him going was when the president urged Americans to reduce gasoline usage by 20% in the next decade, cut imports from the Middle East and pursue alternative energy sources. Suddenly, Cheney's smirking like it's all he can do not to burst out laughing" -- columnist Joel Topcik, commenting on Tuesday's State of the Union Address on the Business of Broadcasting blog.”

The question of the day:  Who is dumb and who is dumber, Tancredo or DeMint?

Malkin exposes the dirty little secret about PETA and animal rights freaks.  They don't give a darn about animals.  It's like the Humane Society of Lincoln County.  They murder innocent cats and dogs.  Funny thing is they get enough money to have a no-kill policy.  They say they do, but then you find out they execute cats after just a few weeks.  I need to find homes for 2 cats.  I don't dare take them to the shelter.  They are rude and nasty, also.  Then there's this adorable place in Carizozo where they have set up a no-kill shelter and let the inmates from the county lock-up care for the dogs.  Everyone wins that way.

I still have the four kittens.  No one is using the litter box yet.  I'm about ready to let Auntie Doc Holiday go in and take over.  She's good at potty training. GeorgieW is still in her batcave, having a break-down.  I am at the point where I am ready to have someone come in and cut out the kitchen cabinets and get her some help.  I'm terrified she is going to die.

Absolutely MAGNIFICANT posting by DJ Drummond about GWB.  Magnificant

Are undocumented aliens allowed to have any rights as humans or does the fact that they are ‘undocumented’ preclude EVERYTHING?

According to Dr. Roy, the San Diego Cross has been saved from the ACLU!

Just what do they use P210 for?  Nuclear trigger?  Strata's on the job.

Did anyone really expect HRM Nancy I's daughter to do an honorable job portraying Christians?

Ah yes, that other Senator from SC, you know the one who keeps trying to get attention by bouncing up and down like a second-grader who needs to go potty.  Well, according to Faith in the Sound (an excellent SC blog) the little guy (the junior Senator from SC)  has been caught with his widdle hands in the cookie jar! I am so excited about finding someone else who thinks DeMint is an idiot!  Not only can the calls he has been making for Romney land Romney in trouble with the SC campaign laws, which they take very seriously after being humiliated a few years back with the the Ginrettes.  If you can't do the time, don't do the crime.  I don't know about you, but I think this is hilarious.  But - remember, DeMint is very religious and quite conservative.

The Iran-Iraq arms connection.

Along that Houston we have a problem line, Novak has an interesting commentary on the Dems, GWB, and Iraq.  It isn’t pretty.  From Novak.

When President Bush in his State of the Union address Tuesday night called for a bipartisan "special advisory council" of congressional leaders on the war against terrorism, he had in his pocket a rude rejection from Democratic leaders. Thank you very much, said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, but no thank you.  Three days earlier, Reid and Pelosi wrote a letter to the president, turning down his offer (contained in his Jan. 10 speech on Iraq) to establish a council consisting of Democratic chairmen and Republican ranking members of the relevant committees. "We believe that Congress already has bipartisan structures in place," they said, adding: "We look forward to working with you within existing structures." That could be the most overt snub of a presidential overture since Abraham Lincoln was told that Gen. George B. McClellan had retired for the night and could not see the president. Courtesy aside, it shows that the self-confident Democratic leadership is uninterested in being cut into potentially disastrous outcomes in Iraq. It wants to function as a coordinate branch of government, not as friendly colleagues in the spirit of bipartisanship. Pelosi and several Democratic chairmen are leaving for Iraq on Friday….”

And from the Opinion Journal “Senators in Chief” or how the Democrat Congress is doing the unconstitutional two-step.

“To understand why the Founders put war powers in the hands of the Presidency, look no further than the current spectacle in Congress on Iraq. What we are witnessing is a Federalist Papers illustration of criticism and micromanagement without responsibility…House Republicans are little better. They blame Mr. Bush and Iraq for their loss of Congress, rather than their own ethics, earmarks and other failures. So looking ahead to 2008 they now want to distance themselves from the war they voted for, albeit also without actually having to vote against it. Thus their political brainstorm is to demand monthly "benchmarks for success" that the Bush Administration and Iraqis will have to meet…Mr. Bush was conciliatory and respectful in his State of the Union Address Tuesday night, asking Congress to give his new Iraq strategy a chance. In a better world, the Members would do so. But if they insist on seeking political cover by trying to operate as a committee of 535 Commanders-in-Chief, Mr. Bush will have to start reminding Congress who really has the job.

Excellent Blog Lizard comment about our turncoat, anti-war leaders on the Hill and Liz Cheney.

Dennis Byrne on RCP about Dems gone wrong.

“…Actually, the numbers supporting Bush might have been even higher if he had bothered to explain his new strategy better. Almost in passing reference, he mentioned how the increased troops would "secure" Baghdad, so passing that its significance might have been missed. Bush needs to explain it over and over, because it's apparent that his opponents are not going to conduct an honest debate over the new strategy. Or give it a chance to work.”  I do agree with this.  It is my biggest, and basically only complaint about GWP.

PRIMARIES 2008: Mitt on the Mind or McCain is worried.  A murder-suicide is brewing!

Is Giuliani a ‘real’ conservative?(Captain's Quarters Hil is 19 points above Bambi Obama?  Are Jim DeMint's illegal phone calls for Romney going to get just the junior Senator from SC in trouble or cause problems for Romney? Tancredo is now calling for the prohibition of all race-based caucuses.  Rudy is looking good in NJ.  Romney was flipping and flopping around parts foreign during the SOTU.  Why? Is Edwards having problems recruiting campaign staff in NH?  Is Romney's campaign lying about advisors?  Tancredo Watch has a big one:  Is Tancredo willing to do a guest worker program?  Maybe this does answer my question:  Is Tancredo that much of a racist or an opportunist.  He may just be an opportunist.  Rudy the conservative!  I love it!  Duncan Hunter is official today.  Just another ego in the ring.  Now I know why they must throw their hats into the ring, their heads are so big hats  no longer fit!  Romney is still not playing well with people.  There is just so much Tancredo news today.  He actually said - actually said - the President worked hard to get a Dem congress elected who agreed with him on immigration!  Is Gingrich getting in?  Maybe Richardson is not the GOP's worst nightmare. Is Algore running?  Krusty says Giuliani & Edwards lead in Iowa.
