It has reached the point with Windstream Telecom that just the mere process of blog posting has become a nightmare.  Right now I am running at 906K – yep, and paying for high speed.  It takes about 2 minutes to open a new URL.  My blog composing time has gone from about 2 hours to 4 or 5, just for the same contents.  Windstream doesn’t give a rip.  They purchased Valor Telecom in the summer, and it has been downhill ever since.  Now I have no connection at all.  I must constantly open “network connections” and do a ‘repair’ to refresh my ISP.  I can do 75K on my data card, with an upload speed the same as the “DSL” connection.  Now I don’t know about you, but something is wrong.  The weather is preventing the date card from working now.  So I turn off the computer and reboot.  That takes up five minutes because I must disconnect the whole networking system and reboot that.  Now I’m running at 451 K.  Something is so wrong here.  You call to complain and they insult you.  They lie.  And here in NM we have no recourse.  I’ve tried complaining to the PSC, but no one bothers to reply.  By no it is 7:30.  Posting today is going to be a pain because they are running so slow.  They will blame it on the weather, but that’s no excuse.  It is constant.  So I have spent the last hour trying just to go online.  Somewhere it needs to end.  It is now 8:30.  I have been on hold for nearly an hour with Windstream.  I am going to try and use my data card to connect.  We’re having a blizzard which is really messing up the airways here.  It is now 8:50.  I finally get hold of someone who assures me I am being hysterical and they cannot just go to Radio Shack for new equipment and he knows it doesn't take two hours to work on a blog.  Now I am waiting for a supervisor.  A supervisor finally picked up at 9:00.  He talked for 15 minutes and came up with a few suggestions, all of them logical and polite.  The problem is them, and they are working on it.  I'll give them a few months, then start complaining again.

 

Evidently we have one of the most obsolete phone systems in the country.  I was told they have something like 200 outages a day out of here.  Maybe.  It’s now 10:37 and still no service.  I’m posting via my data card, and service is iffy, so this is it for the day.  With luck tomorrow will be better.

 

 

Don’t forget my Blog Critics article about Tom Tancredo.  It is getting some interesting comments.  One thing I truly do not understand is why people can’t see the truth when it is put before them, instead claiming it is a smear. You can lead a horse to water…!

Georgie is having another breakdown.  She’s been holed up in ‘the bat cave’, a crawl space between my kitchen cabinets, for several days.  I finally coaxed her half-way out with some shaved ham.  She caught sight of Rumsfeld and the other cats and went right back inside.  This is my real problem.  Little Buddy picks on her something terribly.  The minute I catch him, he’s out of here.  I’ve spent six years keeping Georgie safe and happy, and am not going to blow it now.  Redford and B(r)at Masterson are also male.  Early this morning Little Buddy was trying to beat up on Bat.  I need to get rid of at least two of them.  I just can’t have the fights between the alpha males.  Maybe we can do something with the two little guys so I can keep them.  Right now, though I have a serious problem.  I can’t have cats fighting one another.  The situation is so tense I realized this afternoon that no one purrs anymore.  Brunhilda gets more and more senile. 

 

MY RANT

 

First I want to apologize to any rabid football fans among you.  I don’t like football.  I never have.  The only exception to this was Roman Gabriel, who still looks good. I am a baseball person.  I look at life via baseball.  My personal experience with college football is, with very few exceptions very limited.  I attended Clemson University, where it was bloated with graft, paybacks, bribery, and cheating.  Football players could and did get away with almost anything.  It left a bad taste in my mouth.  If you want my personal opinion, the less reliant a school (college, and high school) is on football the better off everyone is.  I think this Roberts editor is the prefect example of a mindset gone terribly wrong.

 

Well, boys and girls, you aren’t going to believe this one.  UltraRIGHT conservative Carey Roberts thinks the big problem with the GOP is there are way too many women.  Women are ruining things.  So this Roberts ‘person’  wants the GOP to be more like pro-football players.  In other words, he wants more shootings, rapes, grunts, squats, guttural noises, spitting (sorry, that’s my beloved baseball), scratching, head butting, and brute force.  Definitely the way to go.  Football expresses all that is wrong with our society – steroid plumped up jocks who feel they are a law unto themselves.  Baseball on the other hand is a head game (once we get rid of Barry Bonds and a few other juicy fruits).  Baseball is a game of beauty, grace, and strategy.  You can win a war if you think like a baseball manager.

Primping and pouting like Rosie and Roseanne (in other words this person wants women to be thin bimbos who don’t have a brain in their head, much easier to be dominated by men)?  Well – what about John Kerry, Redford (as much as I think he’s still hot), George Clooney, Alec Baldwin?  GIVE ME A BREAK!  I’ve read other columns Roberts has authored.  It is apparent he truly hates women.  I have news for him.  A woman’s place is in the House, Senate, GOP, and White House (if she is Republican).

It is quite obvious Roberts knows absolutely NOTHING about women.  The most capitalistic gender in the world is female.  Who the heck does Roberts think is the hunter/gather gender – men?  WOMEN.  We are the shoppers and the spenders.  Women keep this economy growing.  Men make do with one or two pair of shoes.  You can’t build an economy on that.  Women on the other hand usually have as many shoes as they can afford – and at the price they can afford (usually a little higher price than they can afford).  Think of the jobs.  We are the ultimate capitalists!

I suppose this yahoo never heard of Margaret Thatcher, Condi Rice, Jane Kirkpatrick, etc.  My suggestion for Mr. Roberts, is go beat you chest a little, grunt, spit, squat, go belch and pass gas as you watch your precious football, then crawl back into the cave and leave the Republican women of the world alone.  You want someone to cook?  Order a pizza.  Want someone to clean?  Hire a maid.
