I don’t like New Year’s Eve.  It is not one of my favorite holidays.  I never could figure out what the big deal was.  My father has always liked big New Year’s Eve parties, but I just don’t get it.  Maybe I’m just a cranky menopausal bitch.  I end up watching movies, so I have a column up over at Blog Critics

about the perfect Chick Flicks.  Okay, I  HATE FOOTBALL.  I’m going to watch old movies.  I’ll probably have a Jane Austin wallow fest tomorrow – maybe 6 hours of Pride and Prejudice?

I’m tired.  My head hurts.  I had a rotten brunch.  I hate brunch.  I detest breakfast.  Any day that begins with eating breakfast food can’t possibly be good.  I do not eat eggs.  I can’t stand smelling eggs.  I do not eat fish.  I don’t like anything creamed.  English muffins make me barf.  Ever ordered an egg-less ham omelet?  It ain’t much, that’s for sure.  What’s the deal about every appetizer, ever entrée now being seafood?  I can’t stand to smell the stuff, let alone eat it.  Seriously, it is getting so if a person does not eat sea-food you’re out of luck even at Mickey D’s!  When we were in Vegas we went to this magnificent restaurant.  There was NOTHING on the menu that did not have seafood.  They made some nasty vegetarian noodle stir fry for me.  I make better fusion food than that.  It is getting to the point where so much seafood is dumped into food I go around saying I have a major allergy to the stuff.

If I weren’t so shallow I would make New Year’s resolutions. I  am so I don’t.  Besides, who ever keeps them?  My New Year’s Resolution is simply how I endeavor to live my life:

“Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. (I Thessalonians 5: 16-18)”

It has dawned on me that I’ve not even taken the time to soap box about third-party collections.  I will, maybe tomorrow, but probably for Tuesday since I must do the dr. thing with the parents all day.

For those following the continuing saga of Mommy Cat and the babies, last night she woke me up about 4AM.  I turned on the light to see a mommy duck like parade as she nudged one red kitten under my great-aunt’s antique dresser.  The others were following, pathetically, crying.  I get out of bed and push their little tushies up under for her.  Today one of the ginger kittens worked his way out, and I picked him up to discover only one eye is opened.  He is 16 days old.  The other is glued tight with gunk.  I’m not sure if he even has a second eye.  He’s too little to take to the vet, so I’m giving it a couple of days.  He’s fat and happy.   Rumsfeld is home.  I just managed to grab him when he was ready to issue some tough love to the little Cyclops.  So now the pet gate is up and Rums is moping in one of the little beds, sleeping next to Little Joe (the 6 months old gray tabby who is getting very long, fuzzy hair, and Bat Masterson, who is sleeping on his back with all four paws stuck in the air.

On this day in 1972 The Great One ended his life the way he lived it, helping others.  The great Roberto Clemente’s plane went down off the coast of Puerto Rico while he was taking relief supplies to aid earthquake devastated Nicaragua.  He was the perfect example of the perfect baseball player.  Unfortunately, this day and age of greed, astronomical salaries, egos, and juice, I fear we will never see his likes again.

This morning (or was it last night) I was listening to a debate on FOX between some psychic and a skeptic.  The psychic’s predictions for 2007:  Giuliani & Clinton will lead polls, there will be a massive earthquake in either Iran, lower Russia, Pakistan, or Afghanistan.  A tornado will hit Kansas, and there will be some sort of problem in Africa.  Duh!

You need to read The Gateway Pundit about military loses under GWB vs. those under Bill Clinton.  You aren’t gonna believe it.

PRIMARIES 2008:  Race42008 agrees with me that Edwards has a shot at being the nominee.   As I have also predicted, conservatives are ditching Romney.  I keep saying he is such damaged goods he won’t even announce.   Read Powerline’s take on Romney and the blogsphere.
