You aren’t going to believe this one – but maybe you will.  In a sign of her growing arrogance, HRM (Her Royal Majesty) the incoming Speaker of the US House of Representatives is considering ‘seating’ the Dem loser of Katherine Harris’ old seat!  Yep, even though Jennings lost, Pelosi is still thinking about putting her in the seat.  This woman’s arrogance is amazing even for Dems.

Christmas Day blogging or who has a life, doesn’t celebrate, or just what?  Okay, I’m feeling better.  I don’t know when I have been so miserably sick as I was this weekend.  So much for the Christmas Party, dinners, or even opening packages today.  I think I can finally eat something.  Managed to get town three small cookies without feeling nauseous for the first time since Friday afternoon.  Now whenever I cough or blow my nose my sides and back hurt from throwing up, ouch!  I think my family is giving a major boost to Imodium stock tomorrow morning when the markets (and drug store) open.

I have learned that Christmas Eve and Day is a good time to hit EBay (bought some sterling flatware).  Then early this morning my poor father called to say my mother was down with this nasty bug.  She’s slept all day, like I did on Sat and most of Sun.  The poor thing is left to fend for himself.  When last I heard, he was cruising for food.  We were planning to go out for lunch today, but forget that.  He was so looking forward to a turkey dinner.  He ended up with a chunk of Maggie’s enchiladas (they were for my party) she dropped off last night at their house and some left-over popcorn.  (I don’t even want to know about that one.

Sat AM I was feeling so bad the parents came and relieved me of Rumsfeld who was giving mommy kitty a very rough time.  She moved the kittens back where they had been living the previous week.  I couldn’t get him quiet.  He reminded me of ‘Asta’ in the role of ‘George’ in Bringing Up Baby, which is the funniest movie ever made (if you’ve not seen it, do).  I couldn’t handle the constant yapping.  Naturally, like a naughty little two year old, which he is, he’s curled up by his grandmother sleeping it off.  The cats have had a great time with him  out of the picture.  We started getting into their presents last night after I started moving around and feeling like I was going to live.  The three older kittens aren’t quite sure about all the new toys but seem to be adapting and are also sleeping it off.

I think the thing that bothers me so much is this is a harbinger of things to come in my life.  Aside from parents and one sister, there’s not much more in the way of family.  Oh, there are cousins, two aunts and an uncle, but they have family.  I have no children.  My sister has raised her three children not to give a tinkers damn about our family.  She does not like Christmas, so there we are.  When the parents are gone, I’m looking at the Christmases for the rest of my life – with absolutely no one.

Enough of the pity party, except I guess I’m celebrating an exciting Christmas dinner of yet another dry baked potato!  Yea!  At least I can eat something.  At least the cats are happy since Rumsfeld is off visiting grandmother and grandfather!  I’d better go call and see how the dinner situation is doing.  The poor thing (my father, nor Rums) is a diabetic.  I have no idea what his sugar count is going to be tomorrow after a day of unsupervised grazing.

Oh, it hurts so bad to cought!

The Pope issues a call to protect children.  I couldn’t agree more.

Rich Warren blasts World Nut Daily.  I’m loving it.

“…I will go anywhere in the world if I'm allowed to preach the gospel without hindrance. I'd go to Iran; I'd go to Syria; I'd go to North Korea. A lot of the criticisms have come from people who politicize the Christian faith. To them, politics is more important than winning people to Christ. In fact, I think one of the greatest damages to the church in the last 20 years has been the politicization of the church. I'm also tired of the church being known simply as a political tool and being co-opted by politicians.”

Scrooge had a rare form of dementia.

AJ Strata reports that Iranians have finally been arrested fighting in Iraq.    He wonders what the Dems are going to do now.  I can answer that, they are going to continue with their plans to try and destroy the Prez.  Who cares about our country, all that matters for them is their hatred of all things George W. Bush.

Merry Christmas to me!  I’ve finally located some additional Minuteman fund scam trash info!

Seems they have yet to account for that lovely little $50 fee they collect for background checks.  Evidently it does not show up on all those forms they have allegedly filled out so everything can be nice and legit.  Okay, I’m loving it.  I needed something bright and cheerful this Christmas.  What a lovely present.  Strange, but no one is checking up on these things lately.  I will admit I’ve been a little slack.

“…Questions surface over $50 fee…But the group's recently posted IRS Form 990 - a public record required for all nonprofits - shows the group spent only $1,074 on background checks for volunteers in 2005 while charging new recruits $50 each and collecting more than $54,000 in registration fees. Kenneth Buelter and his wife, Daphne, former Minuteman loyalists, recalled meetings where MCDC leaders explained the $50 fee. "They told us it was for background checks," said Daphne Buelter. Months later, the couple decided to distance themselves from the movement, even though they still believe in the cause. "There were a great deal of unanswered questions," Daphne Buelters said. The records Simcox posted on the Web seem to answer some of the more serious questions raised by former MCDC members this summer. The audit Simcox made public shows an accredited firm signed off on the group's finances for the 2005 tax year. IRS documents filed by the organization showed that it received more than $418,000 in contributions during 2005 and owed about $31,000 at the end of the tax year. Independent accountants who reviewed the report at the Houston Chronicle's request said the MCDC's finances appear to be in line with many not-for-profits that are just starting out. Simcox defended the spending on the group's Web site. According to the IRS documents, the MCDC dedicated 62.5 percent of contributions to programs, 5.2 percent to management and administration and 32.3 percent to fundraising….”

And, I started looking, they aren’t accounting for a heck of a lot of money.  I want to know what role Alan Keyes plays in all of this.

Flopping Aces has a great Christmas posting about our troops.

Speaking of troops, our prayers go with Matt and his buddies in the 82nd as they head to Afghanistan.  His dad is retiring in two weeks, then re-enlisting.  He too wants to go to Afghanistan.  Other son Eric is heading to Kuwait.

Then there are the Dead Sea Scroll Toilets – sort of…

Not only is The Donald threatening to sue Rosy, he’s having at it with Palm Beach.  He is sooo not liked there.

James Brown, South Carolina’s most illustrious resident has died.  Back in 1994, when Lindsey was involved in a knock-down drag-out battle for the GOP nomination for Congress, those of us who were working closely with him were disparate to get his name out.  Naturally Lindsey was his usual calm self and just kept on plugging along – rather like the Kipling poem “if you can keep you head about you..”.  Maybe a month into the hard-fought campaign James Brown, a resident of the Third District, sent word to the campaign that he’d heard Lindsey and would do anything to help him.  It was Lindsey’s first major celeb endorsement, it also was the moment we knew we were going to win.

Malkin has the Pope’s Christmas homily.

Hotline on Call has the breakdown on some of the new census numbers that appear to be quite interesting.  I have no earthly idea what this is going to do with Red State Blue State yet.  Iowa, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Missouri, New York (2), Ohio (2) and Pennsylvania will be losing at least one seat while Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Nevada, Texas and Utah will be gaining at least one or more.  They say Texas looks to pick up as many as 4 seats (count ‘em).  California will probably not pick up a seat, for once.  The actual numbers are quite fascinating.

Maybe he just can’t help it.  Maybe his racism is showing.  Now Tancredo wants businesses to scale back on marketing to Hispanics in Spanish.    Once again he proves he knows absolutely nothing about business.  He also proves he is as regulation hungry as the most dedicated Dem.

“…U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., who has helped lead the push for tougher immigration laws, wishes companies would scale back Spanish marketing but doubts they will ever suffer a public backlash for it.  "My task in the Congress is not to make sure that any industry has a robust bottom line," Tancredo said. "Likewise, their job isn't to oversee the assimilation process in America..."
