It rained, hard, all afternoon –off and on. The best indicator is a dip in the drive where a large puddle always forms. If the one next to the museum is over halfway across the driveway, we’ve had a good rain. When the smaller puddle on the other side meets – wonderful! We had lightening and thunder. Every time there is a clap of thunder Rumsfeld runs around the condo and yaps. After a couple of circuits he settles down, then there’s another clap, and we’re off again, over and over as long as the storm ... more»
Faultline has one of the best pieces I’ve seen on gas prices. I’d probably only link to it in the evening, but it brings up something I was going to write about yesterday but was sidetracked. Mentioned is the fact that travel is lighter than usual this Memorial Day.
Where I am in New Mexico I WISH! Traffic is not down. Fact is, things are booming a little in Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico when it comes to oil. There is so much money flying around here it is annoying. Yesterday I went in town ... more»
I'm sitting here watching the downlink coming in - successfully! The solar array has deployed. The photos are excellent. It looks like one of the to come in are landscapes. We can now view a part of Mars we've never yet seen! So far the rocks are showing ice action. Cool. Phoenix landed with something like only a quarter degree off verticle. Evidently everything looks to have deployed (so far) properly.
Phoenix is discribed as a "One Armed Geologist". The whole idea is that Phoenix will be able to reach out and touch rocks and soil, ... more»
I think we should strongly support movies made in New Mexico. After all, when you think you’ve seen Harrison Ford driving in the lane next to you and shake it off as an over active imagination, well, low and behold it was Harrison Ford. Same thing holds true for the evening you are having dinner in an obscure Holiday Inn dining room where there are only a hand-full of patrons. That nice Brit with the wonderful manners who was so handsome, well it was Bond, James Bond.
Seriously, it was great movie. I enjoyed every ... more»
CONGRATS TO JOHN STEPHENSON OF STOP THE ACLU! Reagan Dailene Stephenson was born on May 12, 2008. She weighed 8 lbs and 4 ounces. She is 21 inches long.
There will be no Thursday Thirteen this week. I’m heading to Las Cruces with the parents tomorrow. My mother has two different appointments. With luck we can do something about her toes. When she was given a shot to help revive her after hear heart failure, it damaged the nerves in one leg. She has a miserable time with the toes on her right foot curling. It ... more»
I am still down with the
flu. It's not much fun, that's for sure. Rumsfeld has been enjoying the fact that he has more snuggle time. An
unassisted Triple Play!
Guacamole and the science of salsa! That bright light that
streaked through the NM sky the other night, giving visions of alien
invasions was just a meteor.
NOTE: I am having problems with Blog Harbor and posting. I’ve been trying for about 2 hours to get something to “take”. I’m listening to the Met (Live) do MacBeth, one of my favorites. Carlos Alverez, doing MacBeth sucks. He’s okay, but he’s no Sherrill Milnes. Jimmy is incredible though. I saw a performance there, years ago, where I was sitting front row, two seats to the right of Jimmy. During the ghosts of Scotland past scene, they both became ‘tickled’. It was so much fun watching them keep from smiling. Something amusing happened with one of ... more»
First up, Glenn Chang is graduating from New Mexico State on Saturday! Congrats to he and his wonderful parents. Glenn was telling me one of his classes was using The Pink Flamingo as part of their discussions. He said everyone in the class but he and one other person were liberals. It's not what they say about you, but that they are talking about you!
My blogging is “lite” today. I managed to sleep (a little). This is getting funny now. I’m just not quite sure what a person must do to get a decent night’s sleep. ... more»
