It wasn’t until a few minutes ago that I noticed there is a theme for the day: Heroes. This evening I learned that Michael Monsoor will be the 5th post 9/11 Medal of Honor. Celebrating a Royal Marine L/Cpl Croucher – HERO! Have you read this story?
“…"Psychopaths
are social predators who charm, manipulate and ruthlessly plow their
way through life, leaving a broad trail of broken hearts, shattered
expectations without the slightest sense of guilt or regret. Their
bewildered victims desperately ask, 'Who are these people?'"We
often think of psychopaths as the disturbed criminals who capture
headlines and crowd the nation's prisons. But not all psychopaths are
killers. They are more likely to be men and women you know who move
through life with supreme self-confidence -- but without a
conscience….” Robert D. Hare, Ph. D.
I think the title says it all. I’ve discovered I AM NOT THE PROBLEM. My DSL goes off periodically requiring a complete re-start, just about every hour on the hour. It’s not my Ethernet cable. It isn’t my NEW Airport-Extreme. It’s NOT ME. The problem is with Windstream Telecom. I don’t know if it was part of that chain reaction that took down quite a bit of the East Coast yesterday or not. I do know how to locate the local supervisors for Windstream on Monday. If you don’t’ see a posting, just consider me under arrest. ... more»
Rumsfeld’s favorite human, Corinna had a little girl last week. She is the 1st grand-daughter and 1st girl in the family in 27 years. I think that tells you the state of Grandmother’s emotional stability and baby hogging. From what I hear Corinna gets to see her when she is nursing and that’s about it. Babies should go to families where they are drenched in love. This little one will be getting just that.
I played care package person today. Walgreen’s had their huge stuffed Easter bunnies at 75% off. It’s a huge stuffed animal. Sydney, age ... more»
Evidently the trauma is over. Everyone, and I do mean everyone is exhausted. The four-legged members of this establishment are all sleeping. I’m still working. I have an interesting video clip for tomorrow morning on Lindsey and the SC VP choices.
It has been a long, windy day. I did Altar Guild this evening. I’m glad I did. Fr. Penn had a wonderful homely about Christ appearing to the Disciples a few days after His Resurrection. I think I may have learned something about faith this evening – we don’t have much, that’s for sure.
I am exhausted. Last night after posting, I realized that Mommy Cat has gone into heat. It was weird. The arguments with Rumsfeld continued. Her attentions to Miss Beverly Sills continued. I think it was around 1AM or so that I finally went down to my bedroom. My nice white carpet resembled the floor of a slaughter-house. Blood was everywhere! I did not look in the closet. Just the sight of the blood made me feel queasy.
Mommy Cat keeps looking inside the closet, then stepping out, obviously not nursing. There are no kitten sounds. What ... more»
I have no idea what is going on with Mommy Cat. Every time Rumsfeld goes near Beverly Sills, Mommy Cat attacks him, viciously. The poor little thing is whipped. We also don’t know what is going on with the baby situation. She has slimmed down considerably since this morning. About 9PM she came up for water and to nibble. That would indicate she has finished having what ever it is she had. She, Little Joe Cartwright and Miss Beverly Sills keep running up and down the steps like that baby scene in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers... more»
Let’s put it this way – here in Ruidoso we are just as likely to have a White Easter than a White Christmas. It spat snow all morning but nothing happened.
I must tell a story on my friend Alicia’s 8 year old daughter, Sydney. (She’s having her tonsils out on Wed). Sydney is learning how to sew and seems to be adapting well to it. She “made” her Easter Dress (one of these cute sun-dress fabrics were all you do is sew it up and then add the little straps. After successfully navigating the Easter Dress, ... more»
I was talking to Alicia around 7PM. It suddenly dawned on me that Easter officially begins at sunset on Saturday. Our first Easter service begins at 7PM. According to my calculations I can begin reusing profanity and wearing white shoes at that moment.
Finally – a Bigfoot update: You need to listen to today’s Medved show. After Medved has come out of the closet about the thing, I’ll tell you my story – or rather my uncle’s.
My uncle Edwin is a well respected business person in the state of Florida. He is ... more»
We now know why those dang blasted birds sing in the summer. I have a bird phobia. This evening when I was going in the side door of church the dang blasted bird who nests there every year tried to attack me. I swear she did. I started screaming. I went into the sacristy and apologized to Fr. Peter, our Interim. He confessed the same phobia. I started back into the church and the bird attempted to attack me again. When super-volcanoes erupt. Another wish you were here to Arthur C. Clark! Clark’s ... more»
Would you believe it is still early in the evening and I’m nearly finished for the day? Well, I’m quitting for the day. Deal with it. The official poster is now out. Check out the skull. I sure looks a heck of a lot like another Lucusfilm arch-villain. Now I don’t know about you, but maybe that galaxy far far away wasn’t that far after-all. (just in fun – don’t take it serious)
Once again the family kept me awake until early hours of the morning – try 4AM! This time I finally managed to separate Rumsfeld and Miss Beverly Sills. I put one on one side and one on the other, and held onto both of them. After awhile they quieted down and went to sleep – or else I did. Oh, Mommy Cat is VERY pregnant.
Somewhere in a storage unit in the bowels of Lincoln County is a box with a stack of old magazines I kept. Several of them were published while Clark’s Magnum Opus, 2001 A Space Odyssey, was in post-production. I will never forget Clark’s predictions and visions of the future. Among them was the fact that in 2001 women would still be wearing mini-skirts and boots. If NASA had not encountered Democratic budget cutters who believed in entitlements, handouts, and welfare instead of the future, we may have been on Clark’s schedule for 2001. As ... more»
Actually there’s nothing about Rumsfeld today. It was windy, thought. I had my 6 months melanoma check-up, the 22nd since my insitu was removed. The Dermatologist said we’ve basically removed everything that can be removed. He also told me now that the 10 years are up, he is very optimistic. He said that 75% of all new melanomas will just appear, and not be from nevis, so we need to be vigilant, but he is fairly certain I may be okay. I do have all the “signs” red hair, green eyes, sunburn very easy, many moles, etc. ... more»
MY BROTHER FLOYD LTC Floyd Harris isn’t a “real” brother, but he is the closest thing to a brother I will ever have. He's the only brother I will ever have. He heads to Iraq tomorrow. Both of his sons have been there and done that, but that’s different. I met Floyd my 2nd semester at Clemson University. We were both in the same astronomy 101 class ... more»
I’ve had an interesting day. I was planning some very good commentary on politics and blogs, but was detoured by a new tenor and cat killers. I don’t like cat killers. The parents took off for Memphis today – after we had to threaten to hook that blasted Cadillac up to a team of oxen to pull them across the country like they did in the Wild West. There is a lose wire that causes the blasted thing to uncharged the battery. My mother swears if it keeps up she’s getting a new one. My father and ... more»
According to Wizbang it is a sign of the oncoming Apocalypse. Innocent Mary Ann has been busted with pot. None of this would have happened if the castaways had never been rescued. I just don’t know what this world is coming to, at all. Wasn’t Gilligan arrested for drugs years ago? It does make one want to know just what was happening on that Three Hour Tour! Why did they have so many clothes? Were the Howells getting ready to do some serious money laundering with those suitcases of cash? Maybe, just maybe there is more to ... more»
MONDAY, MARCH 10 The day started well, then went downhill. Once again the battery on that blasted Cadillac was dead. We had to be in Las Cruces before 4PM for my mother’s PK test. It is a good 4.5 hour drive from Tombstone. I made it with 30 minutes to spare. Rachel from the kennel brought Rumsfeld home for me. Maggie and Raymond picked up Miss Beverly Sills from the vet, where she was facing eminent eviction for behavior unbecoming to a kitten of her age and status. Evidently she was tussling and fighting with anything that moved. Over the ... more»
I can say this because I’ve been there and done that. So has John McCain. But the press thinks it is this huge deal. It is and it isn’t. Michael Cooper, author of this hit piece, is obviously not really all that aware of melanoma. He should have contacted a melanoma survivor. We could have given him all the information he needs to know.
“…The melanoma removed in 2000 was Stage IIa on a standard classification that makes Stage IV the most serious. For Stage IIa melanoma, the survival rate 10 years after diagnosis ... more»
It never fails. Every Spring I visit Tombstone the weather is beautiful before I arrive and perfect after I leave. While I am there, though, it is absolutely miserable. It has been windy and chilly all week. I now it isn’t exactly snow and ice, but Tombstone is like South Florida. The temp hits 50 and it is just plain cold! It has been too chilly and windy for me to even walk through town. The minute that cold wind hits my ears, I lose it, literally – and end up so dizzy it just isn’t worth ... more»
