View Article  Last Day of Summer (Tourists)
SUNDAY, AUGUST 31
Tomorrow is the very best day of the year if you live in Lincoln County, New Mexico.  The moment the million dollar horse race is over, there is a solid line of tail-lights as the tourists high-tail it back to the low country, i.e. Texas.  Now there's nothing wrong with people from Texas.  I've come to admire them and to envy them, just a little.  But you take a small community where the full time residents number about 10,000 (that's combining two towns) and then cringe as it expands to 40,000 in the summer and it ain't ...   more »

LIBERALS ARE SO TOLERANT
There is this myth that liberals and Democrats are diverse, tolerant, and very kind people who are willing to accept different ideas.  They love minorities.  Liberals are a safe haven for women.  They aren't bigots.  They love all cultures.  Liberals would never do or say anything that would bring grief to another person, group of people, minority, or entity.  That would not be enlightened.   A myth is a sacred story that, according to the definition, becomes "true" in the eyes of the believer.

Wikipedia defines "Myth"

"...In the academic fields of mythology, mythography, or folkloristics, a ...   more »

FRIDAY, AUGUST 29
I did not sleep last night.  There was no way I could, after hearing that Palin was the one.  I think I stayed up until about 3:30 like a little kid at Christmas.  I kept waking up every thirty minutes or so and turning on the news to see if it was official.  Finally, about 7AM I gave up and grabbed a quick shower.  I did not want to miss anything.  Right about now I think I'm a little punchy.  Today was the parents' 57th anniversary.  We went out for dinner, which is why the summery is ...   more »

HOW IT HAPPENED

Early last August I received an email from Steve Maloney, who blogs at Campaign2008VictoryA Steve Maloney GOP.  Steve wanted to know if I'd heard of Sarah Palin, the Governor of Alaska.  I had not.  Steve was working with Adam Brickley of the now "world famous" Draft Sarah Palin for VP.  They needed someone to do an article or two and help promote Sarah Palin as VP.  Would I be interested.

At that time Adam and Steve were THE ONLY people who were promoting Sarah Palin.  Don't fall for any of the bandwagon now.  They were ...   more »

THURSDAY, AUGUST 28
I can only handle Democrats for so long.  It reminds me of something I once asked Fr. Ron.  "Is it okay to hate Democrats?"  His response was we could hate them corporately, but must love them individually. I am so sick of Barack Obama and his syncopates at FOX I could scream.  I started the day with a headache and am ending it the same way.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 27

Regular Pink Flamingo readers are probably aware of my ongoing battle with Windstream Telecom.  They are incompetent - not the repair guys, but the DSL tech support.  Naturally it is out-sourced to India.  The usual racist dribble is people in India are good at computers and science.  I have friends from India who are just that, but the people employed by Windstream are IDIOTS!  My DSL service is still being knocked off line during the evening.  I call Windstream - FIVE TIMES before I get hold of someone who is capable of listening to me long enough ...   more »

THE GOP'S WYATT & DOC COMBO

It must be terribly frustrating for a Democrat in South Carolina who is trying to take on Lindsey Graham.  Of course, turn-about is fair play.  I spent most of my life watching politics in South Carolina, and the futility of a Republican even bothering to challenge the misc. entrenched Third District Congressman - then Lindsey was elected. It was really quite strange, in a wonderful way.  As Lindsey's Oconee County GOP Chairperson I watched as life-long Democrats switched parties to vote for him in a very hard-fought primary.  People who never planned to ever ...   more »

I spent the day working on credit card fraud.  I finally completed the paperwork for Capital One.  Then, I checked my bank statement.  Yep, the same company had hit my fairly new debit card.  So I canceled that, then had to do to the bank to get a new one.  While there we were involved in a discussion about the Dems and Michelle Obama.  I am still trying to figure out how these charges occurred.  I was finally able to track one of the front companies, which belonged to some "XXX-Rated Ebony Beauty" site.  That's not exactly ...   more »

SAY IT AIN'T SO

We are in the middle of a exciting (yawn) Democratic convention where the whole wide world is waiting breathlessly for the Obamassiah to appear at his coronation on Thursday.  Unfortunately, there are more important and more pressing things in the world than his Obamassiness.

On Thursday the unthinkable will become reality.  Limited (no such thing as limited) instant replays for home runs will become the experimental law of the land.  This stupidity will last until until someone declares an intervention or it dies a natural death in 2010.

The whole idea is to keep tabs of ...   more »

AN AMERICAN HERO
“…"John Glenn said he was the best natural pilot he ever flew with..”  John McCain

On Saturday when Joe Biden was thanking Barack Obama for choosing him for his VP nominee, Biden accidentally called Barack Obama “Barack America”.  We will be hearing that epitaph sooner than later, as we are dealing with an individual who has an ego that knows no bounds. It is strange what we think of when we hear certain phrases or words, or smell certain odors.  (I am not implying anything about odors and the Democrats, but just put two and three together). ...   more »
View Article  More Problems with Windstream Telecom

SUNDAY, AUGUST 24
One of the reasons for the lite posting this weekend is the fact that Windstream Telecom is behaving badly again.  My DSL service is going on and off, then being fast, and slow.  They say it is my problem and will probably cost thirty five bucks for an inside service call.  The twit who took the call (outsourced to India) was too quick to own up to some local outages.  I've noticed after I complained things were working better, but by then it was after 8PM.

I came home this afternoon, after church, to discover that Rumsfeld ...   more »

SATURDAY, AUGUST 23

The above is a shameless ploy to see if all the BS about tags and page ranking through using the right words in titles actually works.  I think the whole thing is a crock, which is just about what I think of Obama's choice for VP.  Frankly, I can't figure it out, at all.  Can you?  This evening my friend, Glenn told me he thinks Obama's first choice turned him down and the campaign had to do some scrambling.

DOES IT MATTER?

Are political bloggers accomplishing anything valid or are we simply salving our ego into thinking anyone is actually reading what we write?  Are we all that or just pond scum or something in between?  Is it possible political bloggers are the internet’s version of The One?  We are The Ones for which the Universe has been waiting?

I don’t mind admitting I enjoyed reading my numbers, but have realized it doesn’t amount to a hill of beans.  Or am I going through my cynical phase?  Could be both, but then again studies have shown that very ...   more »

FRIDAY, AUGUST 22
I am allegedly suffering from stress.  I am taking most of the day off and am only doing the one post today.  Tomorrow I will attempt to improve, but I have been told I must begin liberating myself from the computer and only spend 8 hours a day on it.  My rehab begins tomorrow when I attend the yearly antique show with my mother, and carry her (many) bags of loot.  I'm also having an ISP problem this evening, and downloading is almost impossibly show.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 21

I think it is time to expose the nightly horror I am living with.  It is a beautiful time of year.  The evenings here in New Mexico are crisp, and slightly scented with pinion.  There is a chorus of crickets and night bugs adding to the beauty of the night.  But - I live in terror.  I am forced to live behind closed doors.  I can no longer open the doors to my screened balconies.  I must have everything closed tightly the moment twilight descends on my world.  By now it is too dangerous to take a ...   more »

JOHN MCCAIN'S SMART WIFE

The Obama Campaign thinks they have John McCain hog-tied, hung, deleted, and on the ropes over the latest John McCain being John McCain.  The man is so absurdly honest the press still doesn’t know how to handle him, even after 8 years. He doesn’t care what he says.  Neither do I.  My mouth gets me in trouble all the time.  Evidently so does John McCain’s.

There’s more here than just the usual campaign rantings of desperation. It reeks of class(less) warfare.  There’s also something of a double standard here.  There was nothing wrong for John Kerry ...   more »

Thirteen Reasons Dodge City (of the Wild West) Is Relevant in 2008

One of my complaints about education today and people in general is the abject of historical ignorance of the average person. Kids are no longer taught history.  When they are it is a politically correct, white-washed version that downplays the role of American history.  There is nothing wrong with teaching a broad spectrum of American history that includes all genders and races.  That’s not the real problem.  The real problem is not enough time is designated to the study ...   more »

MONDAY, AUGUST, 18
In the ultimate Only in New Mexico, the New Mexico Independent is reporting that Pervez Musharraf may be exiling himself to New Mexico. Evidently Bill Richardson is up to something again, trying to prove he has VP potential?

John McCain, ChessMaster, is going to announce his VP the day after Obama is crowned Ruler of the Universe.  He's doing it in Ohio?  Why?  Seems to me the only reason he would be doing it in Ohio is because his VP is going to come from Ohio.  Ken Blackwell?

Jesus left that place and went away to the district of Tyre and Sidon. Just then a Canaanite woman from that region came out and started shouting, ‘Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is tormented by a demon.’ But he did not answer her at all. And his disciples came and urged him, saying, ‘Send her away, for she keeps shouting after us.’ He answered, ‘I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.’ But she came and knelt before him, saying, ‘Lord, help me.’ He answered, ...   more »

Today my grandmother, Sarah Frances Moore Froehlich would be 105 years old.  I know everyone thinks they had the best grandmother, ever, but my grandmother was the best ever.  There is no argument about it.  Truth be known, until I grew up, I would much spend time staying with she and my grandfather than with my parents.  Maybe it helped because I was the long awaited First Grandchild.  I could do no wrong, until many years later and a cousin told many vicioius lies about me.  Doesn't matter.  I know better.  So does she.  This morning I ...   more »

My sister and I had not been living in our new apartment in Atlanta very long.  The neighbor was having a big party.  I was sitting on the balcony, listening to music when the announcement was made.  I went over to tell my friend, who was a huge Elvis fan.  She had about 50 people at the party.  All of a sudden women started screaming and crying, and rushing down to their cars.  It was quite a dramatic scene.

Evidently at least one of the bigfoot "hunters" is a FOX fan.  I'm not sure if the fact that the alleged Bigfoot failed the DNA test today is all that important in one respect.  The guys were totally up front with the results.  We all know how easily DNA samples can be contaminated, and from what I gather the duo taking the sample did not know what they were doing.

OBAMA'S PALESTINIAN PROBLEM
Quite a bit has been made these past few days about "Obamacons" and how many of them there are.  For awhile I've been working with a source, a fascinating source.  I know this person is frustrated with the slow pace of things, and wants to contribute something to the 'cause'.  I've been honored to learn her political background which goes back nearly 50 years.  She is a 'real' pro.  Right now that's all I can say.

You can probably tell by my previous post, I'm not all that happy with Democrats right now, simply because it is my believe, from what I can tell, Barack Obama is going to basically destroy our future by gutting NASA for more handouts and pandering.  He has already said he is going to postpone our second generation shuttle for several years if not indefinately.  I hope his dimwit supporters realize if we don't have a way to get to the ISS (if this war in Georgia continues) there's no way we can even service our satellites.  I ...   more »
