Today the WTimes featured a piece by Stephen Dinan about how the blog world bailed out the McCain campaign. I wasn’t there during those do or die days where everyone but a few people, including Brad Marston, were burying John McCain. I do know there was not a great a blog presence for McCain as the Times would have the world believe.
Captain Ed picked the story up at Hot Air. I find the revisionist history rather fascinating. Like Beth I only remember Blogs against McCain and a tremendous amount of hate spewed against him, much ... more»
I can’t believe I sat down and watched a good 7 innings of the season opener. The Prez looked good. The ESPN interview they did with him was far superior to the White House Press Corp. Joe Morgan did a great job, and asked some good questions. Then the Prez did just a little play-by-play, proving when he is unemployed a year from now he can always get a job doing baseball!
I think the title says it all. I’ve discovered I AM NOT THE PROBLEM. My DSL goes off periodically requiring a complete re-start, just about every hour on the hour. It’s not my Ethernet cable. It isn’t my NEW Airport-Extreme. It’s NOT ME. The problem is with Windstream Telecom. I don’t know if it was part of that chain reaction that took down quite a bit of the East Coast yesterday or not. I do know how to locate the local supervisors for Windstream on Monday. If you don’t’ see a posting, just consider me under arrest. ... more»
ISP PROBLEMS – AGAIN I would love to be able to nuke Windstream. I’ve been dealing with them since 5:15PM and it is now 9:08. Something is going on with my ISP and naturally it is me. I’m working a slow as molasses. It is now 10:14. Since writing the above I have had yet another call to Windstream. We’re talking about being on hold for 20 minutes, 18 minutes, and 45 minutes. My first attempt was with one of their outsourced “experts”. I finally managed to get one of their supervisors who helped me regain my ... more»
Rumsfeld’s favorite human, Corinna had a little girl last week. She is the 1st grand-daughter and 1st girl in the family in 27 years. I think that tells you the state of Grandmother’s emotional stability and baby hogging. From what I hear Corinna gets to see her when she is nursing and that’s about it. Babies should go to families where they are drenched in love. This little one will be getting just that.
I played care package person today. Walgreen’s had their huge stuffed Easter bunnies at 75% off. It’s a huge stuffed animal. Sydney, age ... more»
Look, just color me cynical. I’m worried. Things are WAY too good for John McCain right now. If this were October, I would be a very happy person. Unfortunately this is March. What goes up must come down, unless…. Something like this occurs: Condi may be interested in the VP spot.
The Phoenix from Phoenix? Unfortunately it is too early and there are too many anti-McCain conservatives and way too many NON REPUBLICAN anti-immigration nativists who will do just about anything to throw a monkey wrench into the machinery.
Evidently the trauma is over. Everyone, and I do mean everyone is exhausted. The four-legged members of this establishment are all sleeping. I’m still working. I have an interesting video clip for tomorrow morning on Lindsey and the SC VP choices.
It has been a long, windy day. I did Altar Guild this evening. I’m glad I did. Fr. Penn had a wonderful homely about Christ appearing to the Disciples a few days after His Resurrection. I think I may have learned something about faith this evening – we don’t have much, that’s for sure.
I am exhausted. Last night after posting, I realized that Mommy Cat has gone into heat. It was weird. The arguments with Rumsfeld continued. Her attentions to Miss Beverly Sills continued. I think it was around 1AM or so that I finally went down to my bedroom. My nice white carpet resembled the floor of a slaughter-house. Blood was everywhere! I did not look in the closet. Just the sight of the blood made me feel queasy.
Mommy Cat keeps looking inside the closet, then stepping out, obviously not nursing. There are no kitten sounds. What ... more»
Today I won my 3rd vote for John McCain. I may have won more for him, but I can only account for those three, four if you count my mother. All three votes were hard fought and won, not through blogging, in fact none of the voters has even read The Pink Flamingo. Maybe I don’t count the third one, it was the son of a friend I converted. Maybe that his my friend’s vote. I’m not sure, but I can account for three votes for John McCain.
I have no idea what is going on with Mommy Cat. Every time Rumsfeld goes near Beverly Sills, Mommy Cat attacks him, viciously. The poor little thing is whipped. We also don’t know what is going on with the baby situation. She has slimmed down considerably since this morning. About 9PM she came up for water and to nibble. That would indicate she has finished having what ever it is she had. She, Little Joe Cartwright and Miss Beverly Sills keep running up and down the steps like that baby scene in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers... more»
Let’s put it this way – here in Ruidoso we are just as likely to have a White Easter than a White Christmas. It spat snow all morning but nothing happened.
I must tell a story on my friend Alicia’s 8 year old daughter, Sydney. (She’s having her tonsils out on Wed). Sydney is learning how to sew and seems to be adapting well to it. She “made” her Easter Dress (one of these cute sun-dress fabrics were all you do is sew it up and then add the little straps. After successfully navigating the Easter Dress, ... more»
Jesus Christ is risen today, Alleluia! our triumphant holy day, Alleluia! who did once upon the cross, Alleluia! suffer to redeem our loss. Alleluia!
Hymns of praise then let us sing, Alleluia! unto Christ, our heavenly King, Alleluia! who endured the cross and grave, Alleluia! sinners to redeem and save. Alleluia!
But the pains which he endured, Alleluia! our salvation have procured, Alleluia! now above the sky he's King, Alleluia! where the angels ever sing. Alleluia!
Words: Compleat Psalmodist, 1749 MIDI: Easter Hymn (Lyra Davidica, 1708; arranged by William Henry Monk, 1823-1889
I was talking to Alicia around 7PM. It suddenly dawned on me that Easter officially begins at sunset on Saturday. Our first Easter service begins at 7PM. According to my calculations I can begin reusing profanity and wearing white shoes at that moment.
Finally – a Bigfoot update: You need to listen to today’s Medved show. After Medved has come out of the closet about the thing, I’ll tell you my story – or rather my uncle’s.
My uncle Edwin is a well respected business person in the state of Florida. He is ... more»
We now know why those dang blasted birds sing in the summer. I have a bird phobia. This evening when I was going in the side door of church the dang blasted bird who nests there every year tried to attack me. I swear she did. I started screaming. I went into the sacristy and apologized to Fr. Peter, our Interim. He confessed the same phobia. I started back into the church and the bird attempted to attack me again. When super-volcanoes erupt. Another wish you were here to Arthur C. Clark! Clark’s ... more»
“…This is the weapon of a Jedi Knight. Not as clumsy or random as a blaster; an elegant weapon for a more civilized age. For over a thousand generations, the Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic. Before the dark times... before the Empire….”"
My faith is rather simplistic. Sometimes the Lord does strange things to make us stop and look and learn. I don’t mind admitting I’ve been feeling down about the state of the world and the way things were going. I’ve almost felt defeated as a Christian ... more»
Would you believe it is still early in the evening and I’m nearly finished for the day? Well, I’m quitting for the day. Deal with it. The official poster is now out. Check out the skull. I sure looks a heck of a lot like another Lucusfilm arch-villain. Now I don’t know about you, but maybe that galaxy far far away wasn’t that far after-all. (just in fun – don’t take it serious)
THURSDAY THIRTEEN THIRTEEN GREAT MOVIE SCENES The Pink Flamingo’s 65th Edition Thursday Thirteen
They may not be the greatest movie scenes, but they are great - and they are favorites of mine. Also they are the scenes I could locate on YouTube. Okay, there are more than 13 scenes. I can't pick. Let's face the fact that we could do a whole TT just on Casablanca! You may also want to notice how often Humphrey Bogart appears in this list. The AFI did a list of the top 100 great movie quotes (or something like that) and Bogey had ... more»
Once again the family kept me awake until early hours of the morning – try 4AM! This time I finally managed to separate Rumsfeld and Miss Beverly Sills. I put one on one side and one on the other, and held onto both of them. After awhile they quieted down and went to sleep – or else I did. Oh, Mommy Cat is VERY pregnant.
I don’t’ know which is worse, Barack Obama defending his racist minister, Jeremiah Wright or showing abject disrespect toward his white grandmother. It is time for honesty here. If Barack Obama were a Republican, he’d be buried under the Capitol by now, unless they weren’t running him out of Dodge on a rail. No Republican could ever get away with such associations. As for what he did to his grandmother, the man ought to be ashamed. If there was ever a reason he should not be President of the United States, that is enough for me. ... more»
Somewhere in a storage unit in the bowels of Lincoln County is a box with a stack of old magazines I kept. Several of them were published while Clark’s Magnum Opus, 2001 A Space Odyssey, was in post-production. I will never forget Clark’s predictions and visions of the future. Among them was the fact that in 2001 women would still be wearing mini-skirts and boots. If NASA had not encountered Democratic budget cutters who believed in entitlements, handouts, and welfare instead of the future, we may have been on Clark’s schedule for 2001. As ... more»
