Twenty-three years ago last night I was in Atlanta slobbering over Sherrill Milnes as he did Simon Boccanegra with the Met. They ended their annual tours a few years later, but I sure did hear some great music while they were in town. My mother and I would stay at the Colony Square Hotel, get a suite. My aunt would fly up from Palm Beach and my mother's best friend would also drive in for the week. We would do 6 nights of intensive opera, good stuff, too. NOTE: I am having problems with Blog Harbor and posting. I’ve been trying for about 2 hours to get something to “take”. I’m listening to the Met (Live) do MacBeth, one of my favorites. Carlos Alverez, doing MacBeth sucks. He’s okay, but he’s no Sherrill Milnes. Jimmy is incredible though. I saw a performance there, years ago, where I was sitting front row, two seats to the right of Jimmy. During the ghosts of Scotland past scene, they both became ‘tickled’. Actually I think I'm just sick and tired. I've been working on several posts this afternoon.
