Novak has a Townhall piece today that is basically humiliating in nature for the GOP. Nancy Pelosi has run rough-shod over them for nearly 2 years and they’ve basically surrendered.

I have a real problem here. I am noticing a growing trend within conservative (extreme, not Republican) blog ranks to classify La Raza as racist. Along with that, there seems to be this under tone that maybe Hispanics are less than acceptable. Or, if they are, we’re talking “OUR” Hispanics and the other (UPPITY) Hispanics. Let’s face some very nasty facts here. Once again sore-headed LOOSER conservatives have triumphed. Last night, in Louisiana, Republican turned Independent, Ashley Casey, cost the Republicans yet another house seat. If her votes had gone to GOP candidate, Woody Jenkins, Jenkins would have had 50,459 votes to Democrat default winner, "Don" Cazayoux, who had an unofficial 49,702. I don't know if the 757 vote difference would have been enough to avoid a run-off, but it is enough to determine these outcast conservatives can do serious damage to the GOP.

I think there is this false perception that I do not like conservatives, and have something against them. In a way that is true. I am conservative. The only change I’ve been through in about 20 years of political evolution is the fact that I am now against the death penalty simply because I am so staunchly pro-life. Chertoff Lied About BLM Report on Border Fence

FENCE WOULD CAUSE MAJOR DAMAGE
Demands are finally being made to force Michael Chertoff to either resign or be removed from his position as the Secretary of Homeland Security. It is possible the man has a track record of not telling the truth. Last September BLM officials informed Michael Chertoff that the proposed border fence would cause irreparable damage to the fragile San Pedro aquifer and the Riparian sanctuary. Evidently Chertoff LIED about the information the BLM gave to him and just went on as planned, ignoring the Constitution of the US.

the Apache were “under control” it was easier for Mexican merchants to cross the border along specific trade routes that had been established a thousand years pervious (and are still in use today). StrataSphere pointed me to it the debate. Right Voices is hosting a forum on immigration. The following is my comment, plus a bit more. If we don't get a handle on the movement of drugs across the border, nothing is going to matter. The problem is - no one wants to believe it.

From the Opinionated Times comes a piece about the cops in Juarez.
My friend Maggie has a brother who lives in Juarez, married to a woman whose family has lived there for many years. They had a very good life up until the past few years. The problem with all the anti-immigration hype is the fact that Mexico has many social classes have been completely obscured. Once upon a time, life in Juarez was good.
