View Article  Why I Am Annoyed with Conservatives
SUNDAY, MAY 11

I want to set the record straight on a few things.  First, I am conservative.  I am not “A Conservative”.  I am conservative.  My conservative values have NEVER changed – except for my views on capital punishment.  I was for it, but then when I really began thinking about the pro-life implications, I cannot support it.  I do not believe in taking a person’s life – no matter who.  My only exception is for treason and then just shoot ‘em where they stand.  This is the only thing about my conservative views that has changed.  I want ...   more »

SATURDAY, MAY 3

Sometimes Miss Beverly Sills is just plain cute.  The worst of it is the little stinker knows she is cute.  Then, there are times (most of the time) she is so darn naughty, it is still cute!  Today has been one of those days.  I pulled her out of the big jade plant 3 times.  The third time she decided to try and bit me.  That did not work.  She’s been running around the condo like a critter on jet fuel.  Okay it’s cute.

Another only in New Mexico:  marauding elk?

THE 'TRUE' CONSERVATIVE AGENDA
From Border Fire Report (for what it’s worth)

I keep telling you there are many conservatives who are not Republican.  These are the individuals who have been doing all the agitating – and we’re not talking Ron Paul Bots.  There is a division in the conservative ranks between libertarians, Constitution, and the new conservative party.  The problem is these are the yahoos who basically cost the GOP the majority in the House and Senate in 2006.  If we aren't careful and marginalize them, this will happen, once again, and could cost John McCain the election.  They ...   more »

FRIDAY, MAY 2

As I mentioned in an earlier post, the good people at the Cat Blogsphere are helping a fellow cat-blogger who was the victim of a tragic fire.  They’ve also done something nice, but I don’t now if I can mention it.  Let’s just say ML proves my theory about Episcopalians being good people!

This Episcopalian spent the afternoon trying to shake down local business owners – for gift certificates for the annual church raffle.  It’s for a good cause, so what the heck.  Fortunately everyone knows the money goes back into the community to various charities so ...   more »

BELIEVING IN MIRACLES
My friend Deb send an email to me yesterday, with a message for my friend Chris and her family.  It is so beautiful I want to share it with you.

A little background.  My friend is a living testament to Christ's love and the fact that HE IS in the miracle business.  She shouldn't even be alive, let alone walking.  Maybe 13 or so years ago Deb, a letter carrier, was on the job, going through the big intersection in Seneca, SC between Highway 59 and the 123 Bypass.  Someone ran the light, hitting her dead to ...   more »

HOW BAD ARE THINGS?
Once again the voices of doom are declaring the GOP dead and buried.  According to the most recent WSJ poll, evidently the GOP isn’t well favored by voters this year – or are they?    The eternals are here.  This is a poll for Registered Voters and not Likely Voters.

Cindy McCain is not being treated decently by the liberal media, I think.  So what if she is rich.  John Kerry’s wife was worth a fortune and the liberal press ignored it. This woman, worthy of being a First Lady, is being treated horribly by liberal ...   more »

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 30

We’ve had worse days, but this one is in the top five since I’ve lived here.  This morning I was going to put it as the 3rd worst windy day, but I think I will put it at #5.  We are expecting a monster day tomorrow. Fed Ex came by this morning.  I thought the poor woman was going to end up with her arm caught in the door it was blowing so bad.  It was miserable.  Rumsfeld had a rough day.  He went downstairs to the bedroom with me this evening.  Doc trapped him in the ...   more »

BACK TO COCHISE COUNTY
Everyone wanted a piece of the action.  They wanted their ‘fair share’.  They wanted the money.  Because
the Apache were “under control” it was easier for Mexican merchants to cross the border along specific trade routes that had been established a thousand years pervious (and are still in use today).  Tombstone had the money.  They could afford things.  They paid big money for things, at highly inflated rates.  The Mexican traders would make their way back into Sonora, rich, their pockets full of Tombstone gold.

Remember, we’re talking the 1881 equivalent of a TRILLION DOLLARS being ...   more »

THE ROAD TO GUADELOUPE CANYON

FROM:  A CHURCH FOR HELLDORADO

P. 13, 14
49The Gunfight at the OK Corral occurred on October 26, 1881.  To make a very long “and involved story as short as possible is to gloss over a hundred salient facts.  The bottom line is Wyatt Earp and his brothers had been threatened by misc. Cowboys at misc. times during the previous year.
Things came to a head the night of the 25th, when Ike and Frank McLaury rode into town and began drinking.  Ike became drunk.  He threatened the Earps.  Doc Holliday heard him ...   more »

ARE FLDS PARENTS VICTIMS?
“…FLDS conditioning begins at a young age, when children are taught the outside world is evil, says the author. Instead of hide-and-seek, children play apocalypse. Girls learn they're worthless and must blindly obey their husbands, most of whom are chosen for them. Women are admonished to "keep sweet," to stay in harmony with their husbands, who are their priesthood heads and whose will they must not only obey but also anticipate.  Their salvation is at stake. A woman gains eternal life only through her husband, and at his whim, she lives in paradise as a ...   more »
View Article  Today is St. George’s Day (My Patron Saint)
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 23

Blog Critics has just published my piece about blogging John McCain.

Funny how the Lord works.  Last year I realized that St. George was my patron saint through an interesting occurrence.  I’ve always thought he was.  My protector is the Blessed Virgin of Guadeloupe – FYI.   Today Forward Day by Day highlights the verses I live by.  After I read the passage, it is quite apparent that St. George is my Patron Saint.  1 Thessalonians 5:12-28.  Verses 16-18 are the verses I live my life by:

16Rejoice always,
17pray without ceasing,
18give thanks in all circumstances;

SHERIFF JOE TOSSES BILL OF RIGHTS!
“…So much for my speech. The struggle, I fear, is just getting started. Both our Mayor and Police Chief have challenged the Sheriff. Religious leaders, myself included, will soon be publishing an open letter in the paper, legal challenges will be mounted. No matter what your views on immigration or your ideas on how to solve this immensely complex problem, the Sheriff's heavy-handed intimidation is not the way. I hope that you will join with me and others in the religious community who are doing their best to balance the laws of our country ...   more »

ANTI-CATHOLIC SENTIMENT SURFACES

I think by now any thinking person knows the Puppetmaster, John Tanton, is very anti-Catholic.  Somehow I don’t think he is very happy with the visit of the Holy Father.  So, he has sent his little minions of darkness out to try and ratchet up anti-immigration sentiment based on anti-Catholic bias.  The man uses bias and ‘hate’ as his tools of the trade. His minions adopt his values and his tone.  The result – well, you be the judge.  I think we  now know Tom Tancredo and Michelle Malkin are two of his little flunkies.  I think ...   more »

We’ve had another obscenely windy day.  I finally had to go out for diner, and for HE.  Fr. Penn did the service.  I had Altar Guild afterward.  Wednesday night is easy.  We “do dishes” then leave.  There’s none of that setting up for another service, which is good.

My father is now vindicated.  Men are more forgetful than women.

There is nothing more obnoxious than the recently converted, including moi and Mac!

I can’t help contrasting the actions of my friend Chris and the mothers from that breakaway LDS cult.  (Prairie Pundit has a good commentary)

I have a real problem with a new trend in “conservative” blogs to complain about the police actions against this cult (Say Anything Blog)

A REQUEST FOR PRAYER

Several years ago I met a family here in town.  It was Christmas and they did not have enough money for presents for their three kids.  The Episcopal Church in Lincoln County being what it is, that was all we needed.  I think that was the most fun most memorable Christmas ever!  That Christmas Eve, Chris had her family there in church.  The daughter joined my girl's Bible study.  They became regular fixtures.  Chris, a confirmed Catholic,  was then 'received' into the church by the bishop.

All Chris could think of was moving back to Pennsylvania ...   more »

SUNDAY, APRIL 13

It was something like 26 this morning.  I over-slept and was 15 minutes late for church.  Or, I was right on time, for me.  Fr. Peter had a wonderful sermon on just how much God loves us, and pays attention us.  We are all important in His sight.  It was just what I needed today.  I’m in charge of the church raffle this year during  our Christmas in July.  The last time I was in charge of it I raised nearly $2000, which is something of a record.  Since Josie (one of my best friends) is in ...   more »

HE’S WATCHING ME

"Christ died for men precisely because men are not worth dying for; to make them worth it." C. S. Lewis

I’ve had an interesting week.
Evidently there are limits to conservative “Christian” love, acceptance, and kindness. From what I am to gather this week, it only applies to heterosexual males and females and to gays and lesbians who are penitent, repentant, and basically willing to have a psychological lobotomy.  Character doesn’t matter.  The sinner can be a good person and the advertising “Christian” can be abjectly evil.  As long as they flaunt their religion and are heterosexual, ...   more »

"Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honourable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”
Philippians 4:8

Maybe I am self-righteous and reactionary, but I’ve learned those words, written by St. Paul, nearly 2000 years ago still hold true.  I was talking to a friend on the phone today.  He mentioned how disgusted he was by Barack Obama and his acceptance of and apology for Jeremiah Wright, as a great man of ...   more »

SICK OF JIHAD, HATE, STEROIDS & BAD MANNERS

I don’t like change. I never have, not real change.  Change is losing one’s grandparents, watching a family split apart or seeing the world turn into something you do not like.

I am tired of being forced to put up with radical Islam and put a non-“racist” happy face on it.  These are bad people.  They are no different from any other hate filled psychopathic thugs who want to kill and destroy.  I am tired of having my Christian faith and that of my Jewish friends subjugated to hate in the ...   more »

HE’S GOT MY VOTE
If I weren’t voting for John McCain, I would after the beginning of this ad, which features Ted Williams as a hero.  Then, when we find out the teacher honored, William B. Ravenel taught at an Episcopalian high school, well, how much more could one ask? (Powerline)  I gather this tells us something about who Big Mac views as heroes.  Nothing wrong with Teddy Roosevelt or Ted Williams, who was a board certified war hero and fighter pilot!  This leads to the old argument, just how great a ball player could Teddy Ballgame have ...   more »
