WHY SHOULD I BE FORCED TO ATONE FOR THE SINS OF MY ANCESTORS?
Today, Dave at Oricus links to a commentary at Fire Dog Lake about a Peggy Noonan column. I have long ago said the venerable Ms Noonan is not firing on all thrusters. I think this time she has basically driven over a cliff. On April 28 at the WSJ Noonan wrote:
“…Main thought. Hillary Clinton is not Barack Obama's problem. America is Mr. Obama's problem. He has been tagged as a snooty lefty, as the glamorous, ambivalent candidate from Men's Vogue, the candidate who loves America ... more»
The great irony here is Barack Obama’s less than honorable behavior isn’t going to matter a bit to his supporters. They want change. Well, they got it. This adult (I don’t think he’s a ‘real’ man but a Plastic Ken) is so full of prevarications and canards, he makes Bill Clinton appear honest! It makes you appreciate being a Republican.
Barack Obama wants us to believe this is not the same man he knew, as he denounced Jeremiah Wright. Granted the man isn't flying on all thrusters, but somehow it is just too little too late, not that it bothers me! So, today at lunch, while accosting the husband of one of my best friends (he's a Dem, she's Republican) I just thought this should be the new Obama Theme. (Besides, it's just plain good music!)
"...Aristotle defined hubris as follows: to cause shame to the victim, not in order that anything may happen to you, nor because anything has happened to you, but merely for your own gratification. Hubris is not the requital of past injuries; this is revenge. As for the pleasure in hubris, its cause is this: men think that by ill-treating others they make their own superiority the greater...."
BARACK OBAMA’S LITTLE FRIENDS This spring I’ve read several excellent books about Narcissists (Is Oprah Starting Her Own Cult) and people with severe personality disorders. I think one of the best is Snakes in Suits (Amazon link below). There is also Without Conscience. I’ve had problems in dealing with Narcissists and psychopaths for the past few months and felt I need to know a little about the subject. Sally Vee (thanks for the articles) sent me... more»
THE BEGINNING OF THE END? Larry Johnson at No Quarter is heralding the End of Barack Obama. He thinks today’s debacle at the National Press Club is going to destroy Barack Obama’s chances. It isn’t going to help, that’s for sure. Johnson quotes a WPost piece:
“…Speaking before an audience that included Marion Barry, Cornel West, Malik Zulu Shabazz of the New Black Panther Party and Nation of Islam official Jamil Muhammad, Wright praised Louis Farrakhan, defended the view that Zionism is racism, accused the United States of terrorism, repeated his view that the government created ... more»
I am sick and tired of Barack Obama. For awhile I allowed myself to be seduced into the possibility that I was simply being snarky about him, but I’ve realized that’s not the problem. He and his violate so many things I hold near and dear. I’ve decided, recently, that I’m no longer lowering my standards and being tolerant of alternative political ideals and actions. I believe what I believe. The man is an idiot. (Stop the ACLU) The man does not have the courage to take a stand on anything. I am tired of ... more»
“…As a state legislator he was even more off-center. In 1996, he opposed the Defense of Marriage Act, which the Senate approved 85-14 and President Clinton signed into law. He twice voted "present" on a bill to ban partial-birth abortions. In 1999, he was the only state senator to oppose a law that prohibited early prison release for sex offenders.Mr. Obama also backed a total ban on handguns, a move his campaign now says was the result of a rogue aide filling out a questionnaire. But Mr. ... more»
I’ve been collecting links about financing and John McCain’s funding problems. There are times when I like to do this and see what develops. I think today the Dems have revealed their hand when the filed suit to keep Big Mac on the public financing dole. In doing so they have revealed their game plan. HAMSTRING HIM ANY WAY POSSIBLE!
I think we are now starting to see a pattern. Keep throwing you know what into the fan and see what sticks. Remember when ceiling fans first became popular? We were teens at the ... more»
One of the things that bothers me about Barack Obama is his obvious lack of experience and his abject inexperience and immaturity even though he was born in 1961. Perhaps it is just our culture that coddles men now. Maybe it is his relative inexperience and the fact that he has lived a fairly sheltered existence, with little actual life experience – very little seasoning. I don’t know all the ups and downs of his life, all the little disappointments and heartaches. From his basic biography it is obvious he lived the life many kids ... more»
I have been challenged by someone I respect (a Canadian liberal) over my dislike of Barack Obama. He thinks I am demonizing Obama. It started me thinking. I try to be fair. Am I being fair to him simply because he is a Democrat. My friend thinks Obama is a great man that I am treating unfairly. Is he? I am seriously trying to go after Obama only on the issues and the fact that I think he is a liar. Is he really a liar with shady friends, or am I nit-picking ... more»
Barack Obama’s “real life” experience reminds me of those ‘entry level’ classifieds where they are a front to get people to do commission only hard labor. “No experience necessary”. So the NYTimes has this piece where Obama says real life experience is more important than a life-time of foreign policy experience.
“…“Experience in Washington is not knowledge of the world,” he continued, provoking laughter among those present. “This I know. When Senator Clinton brags, ‘I’ve met leaders from 80 countries,’ I know what those trips are like. I’ve been on them. You go from the airport to ... more»
I have a lovely little accumulation of Barack Obama goodies. With each passing day it becomes more and more obvious this person lacks the character to be called a “man”. He has built a life and a political career on a house of cards and lies. When called to task he accuses everyone of racism. There comes a time when it’s like the little boy who cried wolf. I like the little boy analogy because there is no way you can consider Barack Obama ‘a real man’. I go back to my belief that Barack ... more»
Are Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama simply more of the same or am I so biased against the Dems I can’t see the logical truth? From my biased, uber-GOP version of the world, I don’t mind admitting I am biased, but it sure looks to me like we have been dealing with some seriously flawed individuals.
We Republicans have an arduous vetting process aided by the liberal press who delights in pointing out every little fault and frailty to the pint where anyone who even considers running as a Republican is out of their ... more»
Go through the FEC reports on Obama. I like the Chicago one. Why do some people donate fifty bucks a half dozen times in one day? I think these donations are set up on a credit card or bank payout system. Just start looking at them. Look at Feb 15, 2008. I see where people made a number of small donations that day. Why are there no donations from Tony Rezko? I don’t know how much to make of this since my donations to John McCain have not showed up, but my cousin’s $2300 to Hillary ... more»
You do realize John McCain is a chess player, thinking several moves ahead in the game. GWB is a poker player, and a good one. Barack Obama – well, he’s sure not a bowler. Obama’s more the Candlyland little kid who can’t handle criticism.
Take today for instance.
When a conservative radio talking head went for the jugular with Barack Obama at a John McCain rally, McCain immediately denounced him. Much weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth engulfed the conservative radio world as talk show hosts were quick to denounce Big Mac while they ... more»
“…“Speaker Pelosi’s warning to Gen. Petraeus about his testimony being ‘too shiny’ says more about her than it does about him,” said Graham in a statement released Thursday afternoon. “Gen. Petraeus ... is one of the most talented, respected military commanders in our nation’s history. I’m confident he will tell us about the gains that have been achieved and the challenges which lie ahead,” Graham said. “I have no confidence Speaker Pelosi will ever accept anything coming out of Iraq other ... more»
Until his association with Barack Obama, Bill Richardson had a reputation for being self-deprecating and rather charming. New Mexico is a mess, politically. It is corrupt. It is dysfunctional. And, you’ve probably noticed even though it has one of the smallest populations of any state, it is usually the last state to have their vote count certified.
There’s a simple reason.
It takes awhile to get the vote count to match expectations and the pre-assigned winner. In other words, New Mexico is corrupt to the point where it redefines corruption. The corruption goes from the ... more»
If there was a rational discussion about racism in this country, what Hispanics are experiencing and what my sister’s neighbor Steve Cohen (extremely liberal) is going through I think the rabble roused by Barack Obama would be a half way decent thing. The problem, though, is he is re-defining racism into something that it is not. No longer is racism a terrible, disgusting thing, but the new definition is any criticism of Barack Obama. It doesn’t matter if he deserves that criticism or not. Any commentary on Barack Obama’s character that comes from a person ... more»
I was going to hold off on this one, but what the heck, I’m so preachy today let’s see who else we can offend! I’m annoyed with conservatives who are so darn egotistical they don’t think John McCain is pure enough for them. I say annoyed with liberals who are so stupid….anyway – maybe we should have a new category – stupid conservatives.
Don’t these people realize if they do not vote for John McCain we are going to be doomed to a Barack Obama administration that will destroy the space program and all that we ... more»
"Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honourable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” Philippians 4:8
Maybe I am self-righteous and reactionary, but I’ve learned those words, written by St. Paul, nearly 2000 years ago still hold true. I was talking to a friend on the phone today. He mentioned how disgusted he was by Barack Obama and his acceptance of and apology for Jeremiah Wright, as a great man of ... more»
The quest for space, both by NASA and private enterprise is the MOST IMPORTANT part of the future of humanity. Barack Obama, who plans to cut NASA back to nothing and basically eliminate manned exploration of space. This said, and in an effort to be fair, I am extremely disappointed with the NASA budget the White House delivered. I blame the far from satisfactory budgetary increases on conservatives who insist on cutting back on just about everything but their precious little pet projects.
Of all the government programs we dump money into, NASA is by far the ... more»
