An Extremely Long Day

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 29
My day began at 6AM with a quickie blog post. I had to be at church for Altar Guild by 7AM. I left there at 9AM, rushed home, picked up Miss Beverly Sills, and carted her down to the vet. She’s having her big girl surgery this week, along with an extreme manicure. Then came the post office. I hurried home, emptied trash, then stopped at the bank and Starbucks along the way to the beauty shop where Leroy spent 2 hours doing a color. Sorry for the lite posting today. I have an article due before I leave for Tombstone this weekend and need to get the first draft of it to the editor. Yes, it’s about Tombstone. This time though, it is about the Vendetta Posse through the eyes of Endicott Peabody. I’ve also been working on a few other things, and getting ready for 10 days in Tombstone. SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 17 Last night Miss Beverly Sills found herself on the opposite end of the bedroom door. She and Rumsfeld have become total buddies, partners in total and complete crime. Last night they were playing pounce the kitten. Unfortunately they were playing pounce the kitten, or rather pounce the mommy, around 4AM, on my bed, on top of me. Things gradually reached the point where Miss Beverly Sills, “Bubbles” jumped from the foot of the bed to the other end, landing on my head, claws in full scratch mode. Miss Beverly Sills went to the vet this evening for a manicure. Once again Dr. Franklin clipped back her little finger-nails. Last night, when she used my tushie as a scratching post while I was on the phone was the last straw. She is still having problems with her ears. He now thinks she may have some hearing loss.
Speaking of loss, I wondered why she was not going back into the guest room this evening. About thirty minutes ago I discovered that she’d finally pulled the canopy out of the ceiling over the bed. ... more »

Spring Training Starts Today!
When my grandmother went to South Florida to visit her parents who had recently moved, my grandfather was working for the Palm Beach Chamber of Commerce. At the time she was engaged to a rather wealthy ‘heir’ from Charleston, and going was also dating two other men. My grandfather took all three rings she had in her collection and mailed them back to the men in question. She never went back to Charleston. They were married a month or so later in Miami, and were together nearly 65 years. She was buried on ... more »

I am going to post early this evening. Miss Beverly Stills was sleeping all evening. She woke up for a little snack but looks like she’s going back to sleep. I’ve reached the point with her that she’s like a two year old (she is the kitten equivalent of). I must keep things to entertain her. Spring Training Starts On Feb 14! Today was absolutely beautiful! By the time I arrived home about 2:20 it was a good 65 degrees. There was very little wind, and clear skies. I opened the balcony doors for the 1st time in 2008 and decided to snuggle down on the sofa for a very rare Sunday nap. Instead – Rumsfeld barked at everything that moved outside, constantly. BREAKING: Miss Scarlet Catches Her Tail on Fire – Again!

Spring Training Starts On Feb 14!
This time Miss Scarlet, the drag queen, lost a good 3 inches of tail feathers! He had the most beautiful tail, at least six inches in diameter. This is the 2nd time he had caught is beautiful tale in a candle on my mother’s bathroom counter. The first time she was there to rescue him. This time, thought, no one was there.
