Two weeks ago my mother told me the Dems in Congress would seek to destroy Roger Clemens but let Barry Bonds get out of jail free, so to speak. I told her she was wrong. Unfortunately she is right.
I think we have established that Clemens is self-serving and no one really likes him. I don’t think he deserves this kind of treatment. A person is innocent until proven guilty. But when does this just start becoming a witch hunt?
“…The Daily News has learned that in the days since the Feb. 13 public hearing on steroids ... more»
“…"I think baseball is trying to clean up its act," Aaron said, sitting in the Braves' dugout during batting practice. "It's unfortunate for baseball, but baseball has been through some tough times. It went through the White Sox scandal and survived. It went through a lot of things and survived. It's going to survive this, too."…”
As a baseball fan, I am suffering through the whole steroid scandal. But there is more to it. When it first broke, I was probably one of the first to suggest Roger Clemens go the way of Shoeless ... more»
Yea, and I have a bridge in Brooklyn I’ll gladly sell at rock bottom prices! Yes, on paper, the Cubbies seem to have the best team, so far. Now, what is going to happen?
From what I gather the great missile shot was a complete success. This is so exciting. Ronald Reagan was right about that one. Star Wars works! Space.Com has a test on which cosmic duo would you trust to shoot down that satellite. No contest – Captain James T. Kirk and the USS Enterprise NCC-1701!
“…Pros: Kirk’s trademark dramatic pauses will up the tension ... more»
I never link my TT's to Linkfest Heaven Deluxe, but I am doing so today. Most of the political junkies there will understand when they see two of the commercials. My mother has been heard saying (many times) that often the commercials are better than the television programs. Sometimes they are. Below you will find thirteen commercials (a couple trailers) that I find either funny, or are some of my favorites. You are also going to find a Ronald Reagan commercial that would make you wonder...! The first ... more»
Have you heard the story of the Amber Room? It was a legendary room where the panels in the walls were of amber and the trim was of gold. It was considered one of the most beautiful things in the world, only to be looted by the Nazis and taken to Germany during World War II. The story has been something out of a failed Indiana Jones movie and is going to make an incredible book. They think part of the Amber Room has been found!
“…If the find is correct, one of the war's greatest mysteries ... more»
Last night Miss Beverly Sills found herself on the opposite end of the bedroom door. She and Rumsfeld have become total buddies, partners in total and complete crime. Last night they were playing pounce the kitten. Unfortunately they were playing pounce the kitten, or rather pounce the mommy, around 4AM, on my bed, on top of me. Things gradually reached the point where Miss Beverly Sills, “Bubbles” jumped from the foot of the bed to the other end, landing on my head, claws in full scratch mode. Fortunately I’d been afraid something like that might happen, so ... more»
My sister, Cathy, is the owner of Cafe Eclectic. Her business isn’t even open, and she’s already getting rave reviews there in Memphis! Now, if you are a reader of this blog and live in Memphis, she’s struggling to get things ready. She and Mary, the Executive Chef, are thrilled by all the attention, but are now extremely nervous because of all it. They hope they can live up to all the expectations. It has been quite an adventure. Maybe you can pry some of the story out of her. I really ought to turn it ... more»
When my grandmother went to South Florida to visit her parents who had recently moved, my grandfather was working for the Palm Beach Chamber of Commerce. At the time she was engaged to a rather wealthy ‘heir’ from Charleston, and going was also dating two other men. My grandfather took all three rings she had in her collection and mailed them back to the men in question. She never went back to Charleston. They were married a month or so later in Miami, and were together nearly 65 years. She was buried on ... more»
Below you will probably find everything you never wanted to know about HGH. I think the only way we are ever going to find out if some of these players has used HGH is when and if the end up dying of some of the terrible side effects of the HGH cocktail. What happens is there are some designer anabolic steroids that can be flushed out of a system within 24 hours. Then the anabolic steroid is enhanced with a high dose of HGH. That's how it works. The big problem is the fact that the actual ... more»
I'm happy! My throat is sore from screaming and my
hands hurt from clapping. I've not yelled and screamed this
much since the spring of 1994 when I heard on the news that SC's 3rd
District Congressman Butler Derrick was retiring. THIS IS
BIGGER! In the 2001 Barry Bonds allegedly hit 73 home runs.
The only problem is that year he tested positive for steroids it has
just been revealed.
Bonds' home-run record is based
on a sham. He cheated. If nothing less, he needs ... more»
Baseball is a funny thing. A good baseball fan can simply throw out a group of stats and prove a point. According to Allen Barra, an expert in baseball and the life of Wyatt Earp (and a friend of mine) Bob Costas has done some numbers crunching. If Costas is correct about this numbers Roger Clemens did not use steroids. I have a source in the "know" who thinks Clemens may have taken a little something, but not much, but that McNamee is doing some serious lying. This person also wants to know why Waxman is even ... more»
I am going to post early this evening. Miss Beverly Stills was sleeping all evening. She woke up for a little snack but looks like she’s going back to sleep. I’ve reached the point with her that she’s like a two year old (she is the kitten equivalent of). I must keep things to entertain her. Last evening she was so off the wall I had to give her a time-out and put her in the guest room for about thirty minutes. I think she was so busy this afternoon with Rumsfeld, ... more»
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 11 Spring Training Starts On Feb 14!
Unfortunately there is only one main posting for today. I spent about 5 hours working with my parents on their house plans. If you have been following the ongoing melodrama of the new house, this is BIG NEW. We have a plan! (oye) My head hurts. They decided to add on to the existing sow’s ear. By doing so, they can have the 7000 square foot job they had in South Carolina and only pop for a two wing addition of about 3700 square feet or so. We took a tape- ... more»
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 10 Spring Training Starts On Feb 14!
Today was absolutely beautiful! By the time I arrived home about 2:20 it was a good 65 degrees. There was very little wind, and clear skies. I opened the balcony doors for the 1st time in 2008 and decided to snuggle down on the sofa for a very rare Sunday nap. Instead – Rumsfeld barked at everything that moved outside, constantly. He then shredded two of his squeaky toys. What nap? It was fun to lay there with my eyes closed and listen to the difference in sounds, and take in ... more»
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 8 Spring Training Starts On Feb 14!
Sorry about the lite blogging today. I went to Las Cruces with the parents. My mother’s PK levels are “normal”! The cardiologist wants to see her every three months instead of six, but this is a GOOD thing the way we see it. I was working on the day’s work after arriving home, but have been hit by one of my inner ear things. Let’s just say my life sometimes resembles that old Tommy Roe, Dizzy!
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 7 Spring Training Starts On Feb 14!
SWEARING OFF SWEARING I’ve already blown my Lenten pledge of now swearing. I was watching the news and the blank blank blank conservatives came and started hammering McCain. I was on the phone with my father and said something that is akin to the thing near Las Vegas named after Hoover. I think there are 38 more days. Fr. Ron says Sundays don’t count since they are “Feast Days”.
My Forward Day by Day has the following: “…Paul had long experience with the need for patience, and admitted that he ... more»
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 6 Spring Training Starts On Feb 14!
The very best part of Ash Wednesday is forty days later (not counting Sundays) is Easter Sunday. We can get out the White shoes and spring clothes, not matter how cold it is!
ASH WEDNESDAY EDITION Custom requires that we give something up for Lent. This noon, when I went to sit back down after receiving HE, I went to open the kneeler. It slammed me in both shins. I think made a few profane remarks under my breath that began with “H”, “D” and “S”. It hurt like you know ... more»
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 4 Spring Training Starts On Feb 14!
This time Miss Scarlet, the drag queen, lost a good 3 inches of tail feathers! He had the most beautiful tail, at least six inches in diameter. This is the 2nd time he had caught is beautiful tale in a candle on my mother’s bathroom counter. The first time she was there to rescue him. This time, thought, no one was there.
My mother said she was in her bedroom and started to smell burning cat fur. She called to Rosa, the housekeeper, to start looking for fire. Rosa yelped and ... more»
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 3 Spring Training Starts On Feb 14!
Today’s wind has been so bad it is almost obscene. It is so bad it sounds like the roof is coming off. I think it is the 3rd worst I’ve seen it since I’ve moved here. You will only find one specific post for today. I spent nearly 10 hours researching this most recent hit on John McCain. It is quite nasty. I think I started working on it around 4:30 this AM when I could not sleep. I worked until about 10:20, then spent about 3 hours doing church and ... more»
