TUESDAY, MAY 6

I can hardly keep my eyes open this evening. I've had so many Sudafed and so much Claritan I am ready to fall asleep - which is probably what I need.  Instead I spent the day running errands.  I'm so pooped I can't even go into what I did today!

Did you hear the one about A-Rod
passing out when his daughter was born?
Gavin Floyd almost gets a no-hitter this evening.

MALKIN BLOWS THIS ONE!
"..."Let's say it's $35 million ...
you're paying the government 41 percent.
That leaves you with about $17 or $18 million...."

Jose Canseco blames much of his financial failure on the high costs of taxes and coughing up something like 41% of his income to the government!  Our anti-McCain, anti-Bush conservatives have blown it this time.  Jose Canseco should be the picture boy for lowering taxes, not the economy. Instead Malkin is treating us to one of her dumbest commentaries ever.  She is using Jose Canseco’s defaulting on his mortgage as proof the economy is so ...   more »

MONDAY, APRIL 28

Everything is fine, now.  I still think they are one of the better blog hosts.  The downtime is so very low.

Site Meter is still not recording hits for The Pink Flamingo.  I’m serious.  According to them, I’ve not had a  hit in months.  I’ve tried everything.  Last night I imbedded the code into the CSS.  Hope that helps. I don’t know what else to try.  It is picking up the other things I’m using it with, but it basically REFUSES to pick up The Pink Flamingo.  You look at it and think there is absolutely no ...   more »

TUESDAY, APRIL 22

John Smoltz has become only the 16th pitcher in Major League history to strike out 3000 batters.  He’s now Hall of Fame bound, probably on a first ballot no less.

I was wondering if something like this wasn’t going to happen.  Robert Downey, Jr. has now ruined his career.  He has “outed” himself as a …. Oh dear…. He is no longer a liberal!  (Suitably Flip)

FRIDAY, APRIL 18

BREAKING NEWS:  Baby Palin arrives early!  The governor went into labor in Texas!  She's fine.  From what we've heard, the baby has come "challenges".  According to one report, the little guy has Downs Syndrome.  He is a beautiful little guy.  If the reports are true, then I can't think of anyone who would make a better VP, someone who has chosen life!  The Palin family has proven how very courageous they are - and the love they have for a beautiful new life!   more »

THURSDAY, APRIL 17

I only have one post today.

We spent yet another afternoon in the ER with my mother.  Her heart rate was good, but her BP was high – for her.  Evidently she had some sort of an attack this AM.  She heads back to Las Cruces to the cardo. on Monday.  Guess that means I cancel my pedicure.

While she was in the ER her sister called.  Mae Raines (aunt of one day HOFer Tim Raines) had a catastrophic stroke this morning.  May went to work for my grandmother when I was 10 days old, and ...   more »

FRIDAY, APRIL 11

I am only doing two posts today.  I’ve spent much of the evening piddling around and making some changes.  I think I solved the slow loading problems.  All I did was move my TLB badge to the right column, re:  Beth Cleaver’s smart advice a few months ago.  Then I moved the site meter badges.  I discovered my site meter was causing all the problems!  I hate that thing.  I’ve added a registration form, and made the RSS forms easier to find.  If you have been reading TPF this evening, you may have noticed a few color ...   more »

Thirteen Reasons Cary Grant Is My Favorite Movie Star

He was suave, debonair, handsome, self-deprecating, had the sexiest way of talking, and once called my sister a “lovely young thing.”  He never played a villain.  He was a very big baseball fan, a naturalized American and a Republican.  And, most importantly, during the 1930’s while making movies and traveling throughout Europe he spied on Nazi Germany for the British Secret Service.

“…A reporter in search of information wired Grant's agent: "HOW OLD CARY GRANT?" Grant happened to read the message himself, and ...   more »

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 2

You are only getting one serious post from me today.  This evening, when my back was turned, Doc Holiday deleted my evening post.  Since I’m in a slightly vile mood, I’m not going to recreate it.  I’ve been doing my usual Thursday Thirteen surfing.  I am so sick of cute kids, happy home-makers, and adorable babies I could puke.  The same thing goes for new age affirmations of good feelings. Bull.   The blasted Braves finally managed to win one tonight.  I  hope they did not strain themselves. I am in a nasty mood until I get a ...   more »

Thirteen of The Very Greatest of All Times
(No Steroids)

Major League Baseball began another season on Sunday evening when the Atlanta Braves managed to get the world back to normal by losing their opener (as usual).  I was going to do a different TT, so I will do that one next week.  Today though, I am paying tribute to Thirteen of the greatest players in the history of the game, BS – before steroids.

SICK OF JIHAD, HATE, STEROIDS & BAD MANNERS

I don’t like change. I never have, not real change.  Change is losing one’s grandparents, watching a family split apart or seeing the world turn into something you do not like.

I am tired of being forced to put up with radical Islam and put a non-“racist” happy face on it.  These are bad people.  They are no different from any other hate filled psychopathic thugs who want to kill and destroy.  I am tired of having my Christian faith and that of my Jewish friends subjugated to hate in the ...   more »

HE’S GOT MY VOTE
If I weren’t voting for John McCain, I would after the beginning of this ad, which features Ted Williams as a hero.  Then, when we find out the teacher honored, William B. Ravenel taught at an Episcopalian high school, well, how much more could one ask? (Powerline)  I gather this tells us something about who Big Mac views as heroes.  Nothing wrong with Teddy Roosevelt or Ted Williams, who was a board certified war hero and fighter pilot!  This leads to the old argument, just how great a ball player could Teddy Ballgame have ...   more »

2008_03_30t212706_345x450_us_baseball_bush Employment Opportunities?

I can’t believe I sat down and watched a good 7 innings of the season opener.  The Prez looked good.  The ESPN interview they did with him was far superior to the White House Press Corp.  Joe Morgan did a great job, and asked some good questions.  Then the Prez did just a little play-by-play, proving when he is unemployed a year from now he can always get a job doing baseball!

The Braves infield looks good.  Even for opening day it was tight.

ISP PROBLEMS – AGAIN
I would love to be able to nuke Windstream.  I’ve been dealing with them since 5:15PM and it is now 9:08.  Something is going on with my ISP and naturally it is me.  I’m working a slow as molasses.  It is now 10:14.  Since writing the above I have had yet another call to Windstream.  We’re talking about being on hold for 20 minutes, 18 minutes, and 45 minutes.  My first attempt was with one of their outsourced “experts”.  I finally managed to get one of their supervisors who helped me regain my ...   more »

Once again the family kept me awake until early hours of the morning – try 4AM!  This time I finally managed to separate Rumsfeld and Miss Beverly Sills.  I put one on one side and one on the other, and held onto both of them.  After awhile they quieted down and went to sleep – or else I did.  Oh, Mommy Cat is VERY pregnant.

I was planning a very interesting post for this evening, but have had DSL connection problems all evening.  I apologize for this.  Earlier this evening I met with an informed source.  I want to apologize to this person for not having the article up as planned due to those technical problems. I do have a new Blog Critics article up about Sarah Palin being preggers and a VP choice.

Thanks to a fascinating source, I promise I will have that immigration story fairly early tomorrow.

They say confession is good for the soul, but I’m not Catholic, just a pathetic Episcopalian, so there’s no confession here! Maybe it’s more returning to the scene of the crime as we went back to Bisbee for another round of antique shops.  I bought two beautiful turn of the century china bowls, then hit a rock shop where I found a magnificent calcite crystal specimen that included shards of pure copper.  We bought Killer Bee Honey, from the Killer Bee Guy, who now has a special on the HD version of The Discovery Channel.  He ...   more »

SUNDAY, MARCH 2

After Lenten services at St. Pauls, we went to Bisbee to antique.  If you are not familiar with Bisbee, Arizona, it is a rather picturesque enclave of abject liberals in the extremely conservative Cochise County.  It is a Victorian mining town build on the side of a mountain, overlooking one of the great open copper pits.  The two main streets are now lined with charming art galleries, antique stores, and unique little shops.  I try to hit the shops at least once when I am in Tombstone.

Today we spent much of the afternoon in a very ...   more »

By the time we reached Las Cruces today the temp was pushing 75!  There was no wind, and only a few fluffy clouds in powder blue cotton candy spring sky.  It literally felt like the first day of spring.  Off went the shoes and on went the Brighton sandals!  (YES!).  Oh the joy.  The temps reached into the low 80’s as we drove West.  I am now sitting with the windows open.  It is chilly, but that’s okay.  I can hear a palm tree near me.  (sigh of contentment).

ABUSE OF POWER

Two weeks ago my mother told me the Dems in Congress would seek to destroy Roger Clemens but let Barry Bonds get out of jail free, so to speak.  I told her she was wrong.  Unfortunately she is right.

I think we have established that Clemens is self-serving and no one really likes him.  I don’t think he deserves this kind of treatment.  A person is innocent until proven guilty. But when does this just start becoming a witch hunt?
