THE PINK FLAMINGO RECOMMENDS
View Article  An Extremely Long Day
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 29

My day began at 6AM with a quickie blog post.  I had to be at church for Altar Guild by 7AM.  I left there at 9AM, rushed home, picked up Miss Beverly Sills, and carted her down to the vet.  She’s having her big girl surgery this week, along with an extreme manicure.  Then came the post office.  I hurried home, emptied trash, then stopped at the bank and Starbucks along the way to the beauty shop where Leroy spent 2 hours doing a color.  Somewhere along the way I stopped off at my friend Josie’s.  Back ...   more »

My sister’s Café Eclectic is getting some good reviews!   I also forced her to admit MY IDEA of wireless was a very good idea!  Rhodes Connect

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 25
We’ve been having a bit of warm weather.  Saturday morning birds woke me up – and I have a bird phobia.  I think it was nearly 60 that day, but I stayed in all day – the wind was obscene.  Yesterday was beautiful.  This morning things were warm enough that I experienced the abject joy of wearing my favorite (and beat up) Brighton flip flops all morning!  It was a wonderful experience.  I must confess the moment it is warm enough (55 degrees in the morning is my cut-off) I wear sandals all summer. Just being able ...   more »

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 20
Yea, and I have a bridge in Brooklyn I’ll gladly sell at rock bottom prices!  Yes, on paper, the Cubbies seem to have the best team, so far.  Now, what is going to happen?

From what I gather the great missile shot was a complete success.  This is so exciting.  Ronald Reagan was right about that one.  Star Wars works! Space.Com has a test on which cosmic duo would you trust to shoot down that satellite.  No contest – Captain James T. Kirk and the USS Enterprise NCC-1701!
“…Pros: Kirk’s trademark dramatic pauses will up the tension ...   more »
View Article  The Amber Room May Have Been Found
TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 19

Have you heard the story of the Amber Room?  It was a legendary room where the panels in the walls were of amber and the trim was of gold.  It was considered one of the most beautiful things in the world, only to be looted by the Nazis and taken to Germany during World War II.  The story has been something out of a failed Indiana Jones movie and is going to make an incredible book.  They think part of the Amber Room has been found!
“…If the find is correct, one of the war's greatest mysteries ...   more »

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 15

Miss Beverly Sills went to the vet this evening for a manicure.  Once again Dr. Franklin clipped back her little finger-nails.  Last night, when she used my tushie as a scratching post while I was on the phone was the last straw.  She is still having problems with her ears.  He now thinks she may have some hearing loss.

Speaking of loss, I wondered why she was not going back into the guest room this evening.  About thirty minutes ago I discovered that she’d finally pulled the canopy out of the ceiling over the bed.  ...   more »

Spring Training Starts On Feb 14!

Unfortunately there is only one main posting for today.  I spent about 5 hours working with my parents on their house plans.  If you have been following the ongoing melodrama of the new house, this is BIG NEW.  We have a plan!  (oye)  My head hurts.  They decided to add on to the existing sow’s ear.  By doing so, they can have the 7000 square foot job they had in South Carolina and only pop for a two wing addition of about 3700 square feet or so.  We took a tape- ...   more »

Spring Training Starts On Feb 14!

Sorry about the lite blogging today.  I went to Las Cruces with the parents.  My mother’s PK levels are “normal”!  The cardiologist wants to see her every three months instead of six, but this is a GOOD thing the way we see it.  I was working on the day’s work after arriving home, but have been hit by one of my inner ear things.  Let’s just say my life sometimes resembles that old Tommy Roe, Dizzy!

On paper, the Braves look good – so far.
Which came first, the bird ...   more »

View Article  BREAKING: Miss Scarlet Catches Her Tail on Fire – Again!
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 4
Spring Training Starts On Feb 14!

This time Miss Scarlet, the drag queen, lost a good 3 inches of tail feathers!  He had the most beautiful tail, at least six inches in diameter. This is the 2nd time he had caught is beautiful tale in a candle on my mother’s bathroom counter.  The first time she was there to rescue him.  This time, thought, no one was there.

My mother said she was in her bedroom and started to smell burning cat fur.  She called to Rosa, the housekeeper, to start looking for fire.  Rosa yelped and ...   more »
