IMMIGRATION A LOSER FOR THE GOP
The SPLC brings us the lovely and welcomed tale about the ongoing implosion of the minutemen, et. al. Jim Gilchrist is denouncing the movement he helped to create. They are denouncing him. It makes for a wonderful story of how, when you lay down with dogs, you get up with fleas!
"...Gilchrist, who has spent the past four years of his life trying to keep immigrants out of the country, is an unlikely booster for ethnically diverse neighborhoods. But, these days, it seems he would rather spend time in the company of immigrants ... more »

JACKIE IN SPANISH
Did you know Jackie Kennedy did a commercial in Spanish thanking Hispanic speaking Americans for voting for her husband. That's 1960 for all those terrified that the world will come to an end because John McCain is doing ads en Espanol.
The Immigration Prof Blog beat me to the story! But, it's such a juicy one, I can't resist. Seems like the lid has just been blown off the whole John Tanton Empire and it couldn't happen to a better person. Over the years, Tanton has played the innocent victim card, complaining and crying tears of the crocodile when someone had the nerve to associate him with the less savory elements of American society. The SPLC has information that should prove ruinous.
Naturally the anti-immigration wonks will protest and say all manner of things about the SPLC, ... more »

The only people who are being fooled by the anti-McCain dregs of the GOP in Maricopa County are some our good conservatives who will follow anything that calls itself conservative, even if it has the rank odor of a rotting corpse. It's one thing to go after the GOP if you are a Democrat, simply on nasty politics, that's the name of the game. Maximiliano Mateo-Mendez has two teenage boys who managed to get themselves in trouble with ICE. Mateo-Mendez is here, legally, checking up on his kids. He doesn't even live here, but in Santo Domingo. He has had a thriving business until a few weeks ago. After his boys managed to get themselves in trouble, for allegedly using false identifications, he flew to the US to check on them, and bail the kids out.
Are anti-immigration hard-liners even self-aware? Do they realize what a mockery they are making of the Constitution and Bill of Rights let alone themselves? So they want all the illegals who are doing “jobs no one wants to do” deported. Allegedly there are no jobs American’s don’t want to do, ergo we don't need immigrants, legal or illegal. I've been writing about Arizona Republican Russell Pearce and his little Nazi friends for ages. Why do Republicans in Maricopa County keep electing a person like Pearce?
